Nadal is lucky to be No.1 in the weakest era of tennis history.

My friend...I believe Nadal has beaten Federer on hard courts as well in his "prime". In fact Their record on hard courts are tied or very close to it.

Grass accounts for some of Feds wins my friend.

In any event following your "logic" then Nadal would have done well in any era at least on clay....no?

grow up....give credit where credit is due. Stop being a sore loser.

Are you kidding? Nadal can't even make it past the 4th round and your going to try and say that he's close to FED on hardcourts? If you think that, i feel bad for you.

EDIT: He deserves credit for clay court wins only... He's not great on hard courts and he's lucky there making grass like clay.

cenc is the biggest fanboy of the 90's. just let him live there and don't bother him. just focus on living in 2008.

im not a fan of 90s
im fan of good tennis
sad but true, last time i saw great tennis was in 2001
in 2002 i saw the end of greatest rivality of all times
and yes, you can live in 2008, watch nadals bicepses, dream them and enjoy them all day long
i dont care
for me sampras was god of tennis even though i have never been his fan, i was even cheering against him most of the time since his dominance was quite boring because he was just too good
i watch many todays matches and even though these matches are quite low-quality i would always rather see old moya vs old safin then prime fed vs prime nadal

in few days ill upload wimby 99 finals to youtube so that 12 years old boys can see the greatest tennis ever and stop dreaming about nadals "vamos" and his bicepses

He doesnt say that....he says the Fed nadal match is the greatest tennis that he has ever seen in his life. and taking away only one part is not enough.....take it all back and just admit that you are wrong. I don't work for free!

man you really have some complexes. the more i read the more obvious it is
he didnt say that fed was better
YES HE DIDNT
he said sampras was better
and yes he said it was the best match he had seen maybe because of so many times when match was turning around from side to side
and yes i should take away that sampras was better? man i wont bother u any more, just watch nadals bicepses and dream about him showing them when he finishes 7 straight years as world number 1 and wins 15 slam titles and wins 65 career titles and 3 davis cups etc
then i will say: nadal was more successful than sampras
but better? never

yes Nadals worst surface is hardcourts. So whats your point?

The guy has won on both clay and grass bow....no one has done that since Borg. All thats left is hard courts....what will you do if he wins on that??? You will then say....Nadal sux he hasnt won on carpets?? Then if he wins on carpet you say..."Nadal has notyet won on har Tru"!!!

Nadal is only 22!!!! Can you please give him just a little time....I d say he has done a lot so far!

he won tournaments on green and red clay
not on clay and grass
nadal is 22 and looking at his tennis if we give him any more time it can be just worse, he will retire in few years
and accept that he just doesnt have game, not even like federer and to compare him with sampras is a nonsense

The courts are what they are. If there had been mostly slow courts doing the Sampras era, we would probably be talking about whether or not Agassi should be the G.O.A.T. But they weren't and that favored Pete. Now, the courts are slower, which favors a Federer or a Nadal. They aren't lesser players, just different players.

And if Nadal last a few more years, he could potentially have a career like Borg. That might not be Sampras like, but it certainly isn't anything to sneeze at.

I think its you who have to admit that Nadal has some serious freaking game.

at age 22 Nadal has:

-won four FO's against one of the GOAT's

-battled the Goat at three wimby finals and won one

-has the world record for most consecutive FO's

-has the world record for most consecutive clay court wins

-Is the first player since Borg to win both the FO and Wimbledon in the same year

-Has held on to the #2 spot longer than anyone in the history of tennis (only because of Federer).

How much more do you need. To say that Nadal has no game is *******ed. Whats so amazing is that Nadal has been doing this while battling the GOAT!!!

With the great Roger Federer past his prime and Djokovic, the only other decent player left on tour who is yet to realize his potential, if ever (being mentally weak and has health issues), Nadal is real lucky to be playing in such a weak era of tennis.

Interesting opinion?

I will:

He'd have been crushed during Sampras' era with all the great S&V players on fast grass and much tougher competitions on clay.

Federer was burnt out from being No.1 for 235 weeks straight, Djokovic would've taken over Federer's position if he wasn't such a mental midget on grass. Clearly Djokovic hasn't got what it takes so it's all made easy for Nadal.
This is why I don't make predictions!

I wrote that I have to watch the clay season before.

I'll tell you if Djokovic is peak before their match. I'm not one who finds excuses.

I don't think that you can tell me anything, but I am sure that there will be a lot more stats, should Djokovic lose to Nadal at the French.

You can call them however you want.

It sounds like Sampras fans started the 'weak era' talk. That's actually quite hilarious, since Pistol Pete had the weakest era on record, in mid to late 90s, battling it out with Martin, Moya, Pioline, Kafelnikov, Chang and washed up relic Becker.

Is that really surprising?

Things get forgotten, and it is easier to point fingers (as one poster recently tried in an effort to attack other) than to care to actually learn something, and there will always be people like the poster that upped that ancient thread that will find parts that will fit yet another agenda.

I missed to ask you about Novak being at his peak before his Match with the Nadal in Rome, but it is never too late in the light of the upcoming RG, so, is Djokovic a his peak? The clay season is almost over.

Interesting bump from 2008.
Nadal certainly earned it back then, was almost an anticlimax at the time.
Never heard of weak eras back then either, but wasn't on any tennis forums either.
