Nakashima with a 4 and 4 loss to Tiafoe. Brooksby beat Karen Khachanov 6-0, 6-3 on Saturday and will play Tsitsipas tonight.
i think he is likely to make Tsitsipas play a very painful match
not sure I’m quite willing to predict the victory, since at this point in their careers I think Tsitsi could still hit through him if his A game is firing
Brooksby wins 1-6, 6-3, 6-2. What a comeback after getting rolled in the first set.
also these court level Brooksby-Tsitsipas highlights are great
Brooksby hits a hell of a ball off the ground, seemingly just as dangerous when you stretch him wide as when he has time to set up
and his serve stats were bonkers in this match:
he made 85% of his first serves
and when he did let Tsitsipas get a look at a second serve, he won 70% of those points
Brooksby is a tall dude, 6 ft 4', but his serve is horrible. I can't imagine he will crack the top 100's but I could be wrong.
looks like Brooksby might have met his match in Norrie, so (while putting the rally cap on) I'll assume his Indian Wells run ends here and go ahead and say...
not so fast. JB is figuring Norrie out
Former Horned Frog vs a former Baylor Bear. I think Norrie's ability to get free points on his serve was huge. Norrie will be moving into the top 10 soon so no shame in losing to such a quality opponent. It will be interesting to see how Norrie does vs Alcarez.Tough match, I feel like Norrie out Brooksbied Brooksby but still good result for Jenson.

He will never crack the top 35.Brooksby now with a live ranking of #39
He will never crack the top 35.
He'll never crack the top 30 !if he plays Miami and wins a couple of rounds, he will move up since he has no points to defend. he will crack the top 35.

He had a good tournament at IW, came through qualifiers and lost to RBA 7-6 in the third in the round of 64. He beat Musetti in straight sets yesterday, 63, 62, in a challenger.Whatever happened to JJ Wolf?
Got injured is back playing again. Made the round of 16 in Acapulco 500, in the Phoenix Challenger now. Beat #56 Mussetti yesterday, plays Verdasco today in the quarters.Whatever happened to JJ Wolf?

Wolf on the other hand has a cannon for a serve so he will crack the top 35.
I don't really know how "live" rankings work, but I think he's around 175 right now and could go higher if he beats Ferdasco today in Phoenix.crack 35? Really. He was 120 after the 2020 USOpen and currently at #209

The US certainly has a lot of depth. Hopefully one of them rises up to consistent top 10 level. JJ seems to have lost some of the weight he put on when he first came back from injury, he's looking pretty good.
I like how he acts like he doesn't know what a low ranked player is doing, then suddenly quotes their ranking. He knows every match he's played. OSU guy, you know he knows.Bob rightfully sometimes tries to strike back at me for predicting JJ would have a better career than Kudla, since I needle him endlessly about his Brooksby call
the difference is I’ve already admitted several times that I was probably too aggressive / hopeful in that prediction, though it’s maybe still possible - and he’s never backed off his arrogant ‘I saw Brooksby from the front row and he has no future’ in so many words (the exact words can be found 700 times in this thread!) comment that got destroyed the same week he uttered it, and only gets more wrong with every passing week
maybe some day he’ll admit to missing the entire dart board on his Brooksby call
Waiting for the Verdasco is 38 blast.Wolf just straight-setted Verdasco which brings him up to 166
don’t start to get nervous Bob, next year or two might be very good for the Wolf man, closing back in on his pre-surgery peak ranking
I had a good laugh when I saw that JJ plays Kudla next - Kudla won their first meeting, then JJ won both times they played in 2021 - maybe tomorrow JJ goes 3-1 vs Kudla and starts chipping away at his 3M career prize money deficit - let’s go!
but to be fair, I grew up playing / training near Kudla and almost always sought out his qualies matches during the years I attended W&S Masters - once I think partially contributing to a Benoit Paire meltdown when I was annoyingly cheering for Kudla between every point, maybe I give myself too much credit but many a glare and French mumbling were directed my way while Kudla took him down 4,4 in the final round of qualies in 2015 - so I wouldn’t really mind either of them winning
At that age, have they finished their undergraduate studies? Or, are they still studying? They haven't dropped out, have they? Both are just 20 years old.

Did you have to go back to January to find a bad loss for him ? Curious to see how he does against Sam in the Miami qualies.JJ Wolf is so good that he lost to Jesper De Long who is currently ranked #168, LOL....

brooksby should've stayed in college and joined a frat
