Ruud’s Time has Come!

Good showing at Houston and surely a wildcard into loaded Barcelona draw will happen. He’ll need help with wildcards, but could things unfold with a win in Houston?:p

If you don’t know Ruud well he is True clay courter with a big serve game and even bigger forehand. Enrolled in the Rafa academy currently.

Is Ruud about to revive the long dormant tradition of Scandinavian tennis greats? Promising start today with that demolition job on poor old Granollers and on the latter's birthday too!

Ruud should have won Houston final in straight sets, but Garin stole first set back from him and too much for the nearly three year younger Ruud (Garin turns 23 in a month.)

Looks like Ruud is going to all the big events from here on out with Qualifiers at Barcelona, Madrid, and Rome likely. Hopefully someone will have the decency to throw him a wildcard, but doubt it will be the shameful Italians.

Really ruuding for Ruud! Hoping he continues his success on the dirt.

Was awesome seeing a burgeoning talent up close. I did the same for Zverev at IW back in 2016.

Well I want him in the draws with a fighting chance. He clearly belongs now on clay and probably top 20 on the surface easily, but stuck in qualifying everywhere. This is not jinxing its promoting the word so maybe someone will cut him a deserved break. He's at Rafa academy and Barcelona should throw him a bone. I suppose if he makes QF at Madrid and playing later on Friday he might get SE to Rome (his only hope there with the corrupt Italians.;))

Top 20 on clay but lost to Garin? What does that make Garin? Okay, okay, upsets happen. But still.

Not sure what gets people excited about him. Not a bad player, for sure, but he plays like 50 players of the Top 100, western FH / 2HBH and bashing the ball side to side.

It makes Garin lucky for the week. If you'd watched the match it was plain to see Ruud should have won it in straight sets.
Ruud has won 54.04% of this ATP level clay points in the 2019 clay season with Garin at 51.00%. This actually makes Ruud the best player on clay coming into Monte Carlo based on points won. And 54% points won just for one week at a slam is enough to win it in a weak year (say Nadal injured at RG this year). I'm not calling that for Ruud this year or even next, but his stats are outstanding especially for his age.
