I remembered she deliberately yelled C'MON loudly before a point finished and it caused an unfair situation for Stosur who still had enough time to hit the ball back.

She deliberately distracted Stosur there in the US Open 2011 final.

Isn't that cheating?

Wouldn't this make her a liar too that she lies about how she never cheated?

Ha ha can't be beat for drama but I really felt for Osaka who was visibly upset and at a loss. This 1st slam win will almost end up being a trauma despite the fact that she played stunningly, almost flawlessly and deserves every kudo. (Not to mention Serena will get all the headlines. Kind of sad she is turning a phenomenal career into a neverending circus of megalomania, provocations and misbehaviors.)

Oh come on, Naomi isn't going to wind up "traumatized." She just won herself a damn slam. Pretty sure she's quite a bit tougher than you give her credit for.

The headlines are about Serena because her controversy is the more interesting part but when the dust settles, Naomi will be remembered as the USO 2018 champion and that will be that. And I imagine it won't be Naomi's last either.

I noticed Serena looking to her box more than usual in the match...markedly more than usual..leading up to the Coaching Code Violation. Anyone else?
I thought it was a funny comment by Carrillo too... "23 time Majors champion probably doesn't need coaching". I thought she just had her azz handed to her 6-2 and honestly could have been 6-1 or 6-0, I think yes she was in need of coaching. NaOs was doing everything better, only blip was from all the drama

I think Serena' bdhaviour was poor in the extreme and it's nog the first time either, the 2009 final against Kim was shocking.

Of course she is not the only top player who has a dig at the umpire and plenty of other players moan and snipe.

However her behaviour as well as poor was petulant in the extreme and it seems to me she thinks she is bigger than tennis itself, especially with her comments that sne will make sure he never umpires another one of her matches again.

Justice was done and so glad that Osaka beat her soundly and is a deserving champion.

LOL Washington Post.....Let's cut the crap and admit If it had been a white woman that did what Serena did,the race baiting, victmization agenda driven media would have been silent about this. We live in dangerous times when abhorrent behavior is justified and when violence is ignored if it does not suit your agenda.Whether you agree with what the referee did or not was correct, Serena bullied and pushed it further that it needed to go. THIS IS HER FAULT !!!!!!!!!!!

OP, stop posting so much. Already a 1000+ posts in just a few weeks. I don't need to see Nadal's tight ass 50 times a day.
Thank you for the encouragement, I shall now post 2000 times a day and shall rotate different shots of Nadal's hinny so you don't get bored.

Or may I recommend you simply put me on ignore. It will solve both of our problems.

May karma like you better than I do.

Funny how the truth is always an excuse. Of all the coaching that was going on in the last two weeks, it didnt get called until the final in which Serena was playing.

Breaking a rule because others are doing it and getting away with it, is not an acceptable defence (either in tennis or in life).

Can't wait for the article defending Kyrgios when he calls Eva Asderaki a 'thief'.

WaPo has completely lost it on so many levels it now reads like a very bad anti-parody of The Onion. And I don't just mean this particular, over-the-top pathetic, opinion piece (nobody in their right mind would call it an 'article'). The poor author is just trying to earn a living; can't blame her too much. She writes what sells. She forgot to mention Trump and Putin, though, that would have made the fluff complete.

Patrick was attempting to coach Serena, probably deserved a warning. Patrick was wrong.

Serena over-reacted and breaking her racket was beneath her as was her temper tantrum after she received the penalty. Serena was wrong.

The umpire went over-the-top with the game penalty because Serena called him a thief. If you're that thin-skinned you have no right to be an umpire and much worse is said to umpires every day without any repercussions. Umpire was wrong.

Serena calling this sexism, is harmful to women. It minimizes what "sexism" actually is. There were two women on that court and for Serena to claim "sexism" is illogical and stupid. Serena was wrong.

The US Open fans that booed Osaka are idiots. Osaka played a brilliant game, she is a big part of the future of Women's tennis and she deserved cheers and a standing ovation. US Open fans were wrong.

lol
...

the umpire is wrong? Why dont we just make it gladiator style and be done with all these rules bs

Let me help you, please. Did you mean misogynist? Or, did you mean mysoginist?

Hi woodie, thank you for your comment and your correction.

You can probably tell that I rarely use this word in English by the mistake I made.

The first part of my comment was made in jest, but I don't blame you for not getting that.

Sometimes the meaning of the words doesn't travel well without some other attributes.

It is not that he couldn't be, I just rarely make such estimate, as that is not a category of special interest to me.

The second part of my comment was said completely seriously.

Considering the sensibilities concerning the case, using a phrase that has been associated with a violence of men over women is, in fact, indicative of such traits characteristic for the said category.

So, luckily, each of us learned something from that little exchange.

It means "I wanna hump ya like a dawg but I can't because you're married and I'm a no-good coach that you're just keeping around out of pity."

He saw Mrs Federer & was trying to coach her or was it coax her?

Or he could have been signalling Margaret.

Overwhelming majority is with her. Check the world media coverage.
The chair umpire has made it possible for the world to see the double standards and may have triggered the much needed debate to fix what's wrong with the system.

That's not the impression I get from looking around Google. It's 50-50 at best, and that's being generous. Where I live - Britain - the media and public are definitely more against her than with her.

Rafa told the same person at FO 2017 that he'd never coach his match again. So, she's not alone in that either.

But yes, she took it too far last night.

Not as embarrassing as making more than a 1,000 posts in less than 20 days.
Oh this is going to be a thing now is it. Cool. Because comments like this will only encourage me to triple my efforts and flood the board. Putting me on ignore will be the only thing that makes you happy and my goodness your happiness is tantamount to everyone's well-being.

I noticed earlier in the week that Serena's coaching was giving her signals during the match. I wondered about that then. Now people are saying "he was giving the coaching, but she wasn't receiving it", which sounds a little ridiculous, even if I were to believe it. So she can not look at the coach if she wants, but the coaching will be there should she need it? Makes no sense.

Regardless, it looked to me like he was making eye contact with her (or someone) while giving the signals.

Don’t forget the racism card! Osaka is only half black, that means Serena was the victim of full black racism!
Naa racism is old news, sexism is the way to go, if you aren't either a sexist or sexually discriminated your nobody these days.

"Several things went very wrong during the @usopen Women’s Finals today. Coaching on every point should be allowed in tennis. It isn’t, and as a result, a player was penalized for the actions of her coach. This should not happen. When a woman is emotional, she’s “hysterical” and she’s penalized for it. When a man does the same, he’s “outspoken” & and there are no repercussions. Thank you, @serenawilliams, for calling out this double standard. More voices are needed to do the same."

Roddick taking a player's side against an umpire = the least surprising thing ever. The funny thing is that his abusive rants against umpires are legendary and he is living proof that the application of any sort of code of conduct has been non-existent in men's tennis. I can't stand Serena's entitled behavior, but people saying the application of a player's code is inconsistent = 100% correct. They pick and choose when they take action.

It's just like the unbelievable era of time violations and the solution being a shot clock because no one was willing to enforce the rule without a big clock on a wall forcing them too. Even that has been manipulated, with the umpire starting the clock inconsistently.

There was no penalty for being "hysterical." The penalties were for coaching, racquet abuse and abusing the umpire.

Remember when it used to be women campaigning for the right to vote & the right to equal pay? Rather than some inane man hating Twitter twaddle & women trying to put glamour models out of highly paid work?

I don’t remember because I was born in the 90s, when feminists started getting batty. But I have listened to and read from many ‘true’ feminists, such as Camille Paglia and Christina Hoff Sommers.

Today’s feminists hate them. Funny that

So, she said, men do so much worse than this, but I am penalized because umpire is sexist? Hence, she admitted to wrong doing? Isn't that the only thing that matters, she admitted. And it is not like we are dumb, he told her to move the opponent around the court.

No. She received a warning for the coaching. Then she received a point penalty for smashing her racket. Then she received a game penalty at the end of a lengthy two-part tirade that resulted in her questioning the umpire's ethics. The fact that she kept thinking it's an attack on her character and that he needs to apologize and make an announcement is absurd. It's a warning. She's a professional. Move on. I can't think of another player who would have acted the way she did under the same circumstances. Maybe Mac?

Mac is f*cking annoying to watch. Painful. An a-hole on the court. And he relishes and embraces that fact and even monetized it on some commercial.

Has he ever demanded apologies from anyone on the court? Well, for the numbers of seemingly crappy calls, I’d say he deserves some? Am I being a sexist or racist for calling him an s$$hole? Please do let me know.

Thanks.

You wouldn't know what a feminist was even if one fell on you. You'd just register your usual male hurt.
