Stanford adds Tristan Boyer and Alex Lee to the ALL STAR lineup. This virtually locks up the NCAA championship title for 2021. Tristan could have turned pro and be top 200 right away but he chose to go to Stanford and improve his game before going pro.

@Nostradamus Are Geller and Sah returning for 5th year? If so, it is not a sure thing that Basing will make the lineup. Sah was a high 13UTR his freshmen year and only played one singles dual match. Best case prediction: Basing plays lower lineup for Stanford and has a slight chance of earning an ITA ranking of 100-125. Basing may be one of the better juniors at Nadal's academy but the players are weaker at that academy probably due to pandemic and less travel. There was matchplay posted on UTR for one recent event sponsored by Nadal's academy in Paris. One of the SFists was UTR 10. In looking at Basing's record, he had his best wins playing at home in the UK-he even went 3 sets with Paul Jubb and beat one 13.5+ player but both matches were indoors....

Well I guess the Vols decided Stanford was the weakest 2nd seed in the ITA kickoff. Personally, I think I would have chosen to go play at TCU instead.....but if they let fans in, I will be there to see how good your new Freshies are!

you are missing the point. It does not matter if Basing will be in the lineup. The mere presence of him on the roster will make the spirit of the opposing team crumble, and they will likely just concede the spot where he _could_ potentially play. :)

I don’t think Stanford will win the NCAAs this season but their team is very stacked. Last I heard Geller is returning and adding Fery to the lineup is a major boost. The team though is young, but talented. My money is on Baylor winning it, since every guy in the top six has played line 1 at some point in their career and have done well.

Isn't Baylor program in turmoil ? due to head coach resigning and with all the recruiting scandals ?

Are they still recruiting out of Germany 90 % of the time ? Baylor was like all German davis cup team. lol
Lol true in the past for sure. This year I think only two German players if I remember correctly. The Frantzen brothers. Not sure if either of them will even touch the conference and championship lineup with the amount of players they have

Axel is ready to help his team win the NCAA title, be scared, be very scared. I think Baylor just squeeke out a match if lucky.

Frantzen brothers are the only 2 Germans on the roster. Baylor has mostly an international roster but there are about 5 Americans on the team. Baylor will have an incredibly team deep team but not sure if they are strong enough at the top to be favored to win it this year. Too bad Brooksby turned pro last month without playing a match at Baylor (injured last year). Soto 1, and then 2,3,4 will be some combination of Broom, (Dartmouth line 1 transfer), Boitan and Lah. And then maybe the two Duke transfers at 5 and 6 (Furman and Stachowiak). That leaves Bass, Frantzen brothers, Dickerson, Garcia, and Northap still available and all have UTR's about 13. 4 through 12 are all about he same level but you can only have six in the lineup.

I’ll agree, when I’m looking at the top of their line up....it’s good! But not scary good. They don’t have a Kingsley/McNally or a Blumberg/Sigouin combo in those top spots. In the past I’ve been surprised at how Soto has stepped up to play in those big moments but I think the depth of the team here is what’ll make them title contenders.

that highlight video is mistitled, it's actually 'every single point axel has won on a tennis court in the last three years' - tbh i only expected it to be 5-6 mins long

That's not nice talking about the future US open champion. He reminds me of Becker with Delpotro 2-handed backhand

Any idea when Stanford will actually start playing or if they will at all? Fery was playing a Futures in Egypt this week so maybe he has opted out?
Stanford has tennis schedule on website now-team doesnt start PAC-12 only schedule until March 28. Only worst schedule is the Ivy's who have canceled spring conference season but did leave it open that teams could play nearby nonconference teams.

I wonder if the NCAA has a match play count to qualify. Stanford does have a lot of talent but will be interested to see if all players choose to compete and how sharp they are when they do.

Fokina beat RBA today in one of the best matches ever to be recorded. and Geller almost beat him in Wimbledon. This proves Geller can be top 10 player in the world one day.

Almost? This isn't horseshoes and hand grenades. Doesn't work that way, but it's nice to try. I beat a Swedish player in doubles in college who had a win over Mats Wilander when they were 12. Needless to say my pro tennis career did not pan out when applying your same logic.

ok, mandatory post just prior to the first match of the season. They finally play today!

Looking at the roster they could field _two_ teams and still be very competitive......

on (un)related news - Stanford girls are undefeated with Ana Geller winning all five matches. No pun intended.... :)

Fery and Boyer , boyer #2 and Fery #3, not even fair for the other team. could be Golden set for these courts. These guys are future top 50 players in the ATP tour.

Wow,, Tristen Boyer is very angry, with some temper. He lost the 2nd set in tiebreaker after what looked like cheating. opponent went up for the overhead and totally whiffed but the ball touched him and went long near the baseline. Umpire never saw it and tiebreaker was over. Boyer got so upset ,, he walked over to his opponent and got in his face. This dude has some serious temper. He will be fun to watch... hope to see him in every lineup from now on.

Stanford wins easily 6-1. Way to go Genesen for pulling it out in the 3rd set supertiebreaker. Not sure what happened at #1 spot but very odd angry match with Boyer. After he lost the match, he launched the ball at his opponent almost hitting him. This is not typical of stanford player.
