Wilander, followed by Courier. But the best correlation is Borg, who also was completely burned out and lost all interest in tennis.Goddamn has there ever been this bad a decline, in any sport? Cant think of one.
Yeah should have clarified with my timeline. Started watching Tennis back in 2006 born in 1996. Missed a lot of these "horrible" declines then. However, was Wilander even on Peakovic's level before his decline? I mean, Djoko was on pace to AT THE LEAST catching up to Pete's slams.Wilander, followed by Courier. I can't imagine people thinking Djoker is ever coming back to any semblance of his former glory. Clay court season and MC are almost here, and he's on vacation instead of training. Tells you everything right there.

Yes, this is very sad indeed. I suspect they're all telling him the same thing and he doesn't want to hear it.Say what you like about Federer and his inability to listen to coaches, but jesus. I'm a Novak-after-Fed fan but this is sad and awkward to watch. If it's gonna be like this, retire, have a full year to realise just how much you hate your wife, divorce her and then comeback.

In an interesting interview to News Week, Srdjan Djokovic, Novak's father, has spoken about his son's rivals releasing interesting words about Roger Federer and his behavior in a match against Novak.
...
'I don’t understand why Federer is still playing tennis. Why does he still play? He’s already 34.'
...
Srdjan's goal for the rest of Novak's career is declared: becoming the best player of all time. He thinks Nole, who has 11 Grand Slam titles, will succeed to do it: 'I have been saying it since he entered tennis. Surely he will be one of the best sportsmen ever. All of this it's because he was sent from God. As a family, we tried to make God’s wish come true. He can win other 10 Grand Slams'.

Ouch! Catch the sleight against Agassi in how he worded that release?? No "thanks" no comment on private relationship....

Senna's career tailed off quickly after his race at Imola, there are a few rapid declines in sport come to think of it.Goddamn has there ever been this bad a decline, in any sport? Cant think of one.
Pepe has been with Novak since 2012.I haven't been following all these twists and turns, but the Pepe involvement could be a big issue from what we're seeing from the outside. Could this be a destructive cult like environment/toxic relationship? There are a plethora of "gurus" or "spiritual masters" that end up changing the mindset of their followers. Research thought reform and brainwashing and you'll see a whole avenue of scholarship/research on the topic. It happens all too frequently.
i had suspected something like that as one reason why he slightly rushed his comeback. This makes sense to me. He probably needs to play some more in order to get money from Lacoste, as he has been doing TV ads for them here in Florida the past few weeks.
these coaching shenanigans i wouldn't take so seriously. DJ is an experienced veteran who could be a coach himself easily. there can be many reasons why he's picky with coaches and one could also interpret it as him really trying something.Something tells me that Novak may not be on the ATP tour much longer. [...] This is all very strange, as he seems to be lost at sea.

So he had 2 coaches just days ago and now he has none.
It's OK, he can easily draw 2-3 names from the basket of pros retired in the last decade.
That website is an absolute disgrace. It's filled with clickbait like thishttp://www.**************.org/tenni...tory-federer-disrespected-novak-about-nadal-/
This article is an absolute disgrace. Novak's father goes out of his way to denigrate one of the greatest players of all time because of an incident twelve years ago? Good heavens. Move on! Also, if Novak wins another 10 slams, I'll have a condo in Saudi Arabia.
Maybe he should try Connors next? Jimbo is used to short-term coaching contracts!
Mats had some fairly significant drug issues, as well as chasing women (though no harm, he was then still a bachelor). Those became his priorities and not tennis. He was a very different personality from Djokovic. He did what Borg, Mac and Lendl never could do: win three slams in one year. After he achieved that, it was a very rapid decline.Well Wilander decline began when he was young around 25 I think and he had 7 GS titles which back then was not away from the All time record. So there are some similarities with Djokovic decline
LolDjokovic and Zverev shortly will announce a mutually beneficial coaching arrangement: each will officially coach the other. They will proudly proclaim their great experience working with, and learning from, each other. After 48 hours, the reciprocal coaching relationship will abruptly end due to irreconcilable differences, including disputes about the starting date of Daylight Saving Time and the best soy sauce for bean sprouts.
