I received my Overgrips!! I am going to put them on my Volkl Power Bridge 8, for synchronicity :) Thank you TW and Volkl, for this opportunity!

After putting them on, I did notice one thing. The color of the original grip will show through the perforations. It doesn't bother me, but I noticed it. It was easy to install, I had no problems at all. The way the light is in the picture makes it look banana yellow, but it is actually more neon green/yellow in person. If I get a better pic, I will change it to reflect the correct color.

I've only used perforated grip from Kimony, which was very nice. I actually liked how the original grip color showed through the holes.

My question is what is the main purpose of the perforation? Quicker sweat absorption? Or, is it the feel?

JohnBPittsburgh

I am not sure, but I am guessing it is supposed to give a textured surface and be a little more grabby when you are sweating profusely. In an attempt to prevent the racquet from slipping out of your hand on serve as well.

Because the grip was tacky, I was worried that it would feel slippery if my hands got too sweaty. Not sure if I wasn't sweating enough today, but other than the initial worry, the grip performed really well. Very much like the Kimony grip but seems more durable. It was only a couple of hours of hitting, so I will have to test it out more.

Now that it's gotten cooler, the weather is great for playing tennis. I wish the test was done during summer. That way we can really test the grip on its sweat absorption ability. Right now, I am not sure if it's the weather, or the grip itself, but it never felt slippery. Other than not being able to fully test how the grip gets once it's soaked, it felt thin, nicely cushioned and grippy. Very nice feel, actually.

I got the white version as well. My initial impressions are that this grip is not as cushioned as my Yonex Supergrap. It's definitely a thinner grip. It is, however, nice and tacky. I am curious as the what the holes do, because they stop for a bit in the middle of the grip.

I think they stopped the perforations just to say Volkl Tennis :) Branding trumps performance every time!! The first law of Marketing  I hope to get out on court tomorrow, but swinging away in my living room, I never felt my racquet was going to slip out of my hand. :D I hope at some point, they will turn from tacky, into the soft feel that Wilson Pro and Prince Tacky Pro do.

At the top of the category, they will announce them. You have to look for them and apply as soon as you see them, because they fill up quickly. They choose playtesters based on several things. Some of which are: participation on the board, participation in past playtests (did you do what was asked of you), and some other things. They select the playtesters and send you an email, sometimes you have to email them back, and then you just fulfill the obligation of that playtest (write a review, based on criteria specified in the initial playtest announcement, within the allotted time) If you read through the Pure Aero Tour Playtest (in the racquets section), Tennis Warehouse gives a more detailed answer, if you want to find out more. But basically, look for them, they will be at the top of whatever category the item is, and apply. Hope this helps! (welcome to the forum!)

scotus' review of Volkl Super Perforated Grip

Which color overgrip did you receive? Green

Do you typically use an overgrip? All the time. Never play without one.

If yes, which one do you use? A long-time user of Yonex Super Grap but has since switched over to Volkl V-Dry.

Was the test grip easy to apply (any wrinkles during install, did the grip lay down nicely?) Extremely easy, has the perfect amount of stretchiness, does not wrinkle, does not loosen up after installation. Tapers on one end with built in sticky for easy installation.

Was it sized appropriately (e.g., was it long enough?) Long enough for my 28-inch longbody stick. Possibly the longest grip in production.

Level of tackiness (did your hand stick/slip too much?) When new, it feels tacky as in semi-sticky. I am not a big fan of the feel of holding in my hand a piece of glue tape or sticky gooey gel. It's not as bad as some other "tacky" grips but the moderately sticky feel is there.

Longevity of Tackiness: Personally I find that the so-called "tackiness" has little to do with whether or not it will slip in my hand. I will explain this further in the next paragraph.

Level of sweat absorption:
I have sweaty palms. My palms are somewhat moist with sweat throughout the day (maybe I should get my thyroid checked out). On the sweaty-palm scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being Dracula-dry and 10 being Rafa's shirt or Roddick's hat (or Talk Tennis' own McLovin's sweaty hands from what I hear), I am about 7. It helps that I live in SoCal where it is relatively dry.

My palm is sweaty enough and my grip loose enough that I have cracked racquets when they escaped my grip from a serve and hit the court, thanks to slippery grips like Wilson Pro and Gamma Supreme. For a long time, the only grip I could trust was Yonex Super Grap, which had mild tacky feel but supreme grippiness. The black was acceptable in the winter, but for the rest of the year when my hands get more sweaty, the white was the only option for my sweaty hands, and even then I needed a fresh overgrip every day.

Enter Volkl V-Dry. The V-Dry has zero tacky feel. Seriously it feels like it would not stay in your grip. However, it is mind-boggling how it neither slips nor twists around in your hand and performs better and better the more you use it. It absorbs my sweat and simply does not slip. I can use V-Dry up to 8 hitting sessions in the winter and probably 4 sessions in summer. This is my current go-to overgrip

Now let's turn to this new Volkl Super Perforated Grip. Did I have high expectations for this grip, since it is also made by Volkl? Yes and no. I have also used Volkl's Super Grip II and was thoroughly disappointed. Unfortunately, this Super Perforated Grip has much in common with Super Grip II and nothing in common with the V-Dry.

The Super Perforated Grip initially feels pleasant in hand, feels cushy enough for an overgrip, moderately sticky (that I believe many others would enjoy) with nice texture.

However, with my sweaty palms, I found that the grip simply failed to keep the racquet from sliding and rotating in my hand. It took only about 5 minutes for me to notice slight shifting around and by about 20 minutes into my singles match, I noticed excessive slipping. 10 more minutes and I completely lost confidence in the overgrip, so much so that I took the grip off, picked up the old, used V-Dry that I had earlier taken off and shoved into the pocket of my tennis bag, and re-gripped the handle. And voila, my control is back, the racquet no longer slipping and twisting around in my hand. All is good again.

Would you consider using this overgrip? Obviously my hands are too sweaty for this grip. But I can see those who enjoy Wilson Pro or Gamma Supreme having success with this grip. I am sure other playtesters will chime in with some positive results.

What color would you prefer for this overgrip? The green looks nice.

List any additional thoughts on the overall performance
Too slippery for sweaty hands. Message to Volkl: Don't ever discontinue your V-Dry.

Thanks to Volkl and Tennis Warehouse for the playtest opportunity.

Great review. I am still testing it. The weather is not too hot in SoCal right now, so I haven't had any issues of slipping, but my hands do get sweaty to a point where my overgrips feel soaked. I have not gotten to that level of sweating yet. For light sweating, it performs well, imo.

Got a set of the white grips. Haven't had a chance to try them yet, but initial impression is it is on the thicker side like Tourngrip or Tournatac. Not overly tacky and a little bit more firm than TournaTac. The back side of the grip reminds me of Tournagrip though.

It is funny how location changes situations. It is cold here and the air is dry, leading to premature drying of your hands unless you are carrying lotion around with you. Unfortunately, for me, I ignored it, and hit the courts today. The extreme grippiness of these overgrips caused my hands to split apart, looking like someone cut me several times with a small annoying knife. I have been healing my hands as quickly as possible for the rest of the evening, and will go out and try again tomorrow. I am lucky I don't have extremely sweaty hands, and I am hoping that it turns softer tomorrow, and some of the tackiness goes away!! (All night I keep saying to myself, "it puts the lotion on it's skin" as I attempt to make my hand not look like I just got into a fight with Edward Scissorhands). These OG's remind me of Prince Tackypro and Wilson Pro, and I plan on using the same frame tomorrow as I did today.

Funny, indeed!

Yes, different situations call for different products! That's why it's great to have a variety of products that can suit various needs.

Thank TW for making me a member of this playtest.

Which color over grip did you receive?
Black

Do you typically use an overgrip?
Yes all the time

If yes, which one do you use?
Wilson, Babolat, Tourna Grip - I usually buy my grips at one of the local sporting goods department stores and they only carry Babolat, Gamma, Wilson , Prince, Tourna Grip.

Was the test grip easy to apply (any wrinkles during install, did the grip lay down nicely?)
I have to say that this was one of the easier grips to put on my racket, maybe because the material of the grip is different. Usually with the Wilson or Babolat I have to pull the overgrip extra taut to make it fit properly on my racquet.

Was it sized appropriately (e.g., was it long enough?)
Yes - Volkl was 42 inches long, Tourna Grip was 40 inches, and Wilson was 49 inches but was 1/8 of an inches
less wide and it tapers off longer and narrower than the Volkl (Tourna Grip does not taper off).

Level of tackiness (did your hand stick/slip too much?)
I would say it feels less tacky than the Babolat and Wilson, and the same as the Tourna Grip. I was able to play with this grip without the racquet slipping. I unfortunately, I live in the Northeast and this time of the year and I am playing indoors , and inside is relatively cool. Also, I am not sweating much as in the summer months so I can't say if the racquet will slip when I am really oozing sweat during those summer months.

Longevity of Tackiness
Since this Grip is not overly tacky, I would say that the longevity of the tackiness is on par with other overgrips. I don't get too crazy about overgrips, so I change my white overgrips when it looks dirty or if there is obviously some wear and tear on the grip. I don't change my grip after each match or after each week of play.

Level of sweat absorption
As I mentioned before I play indoors now, and inside is cool so I can't really comment on the sweat absorption.

Would you consider using this overgrip?
No - I like the feel of softer feeling grips, Volkl has a more rubbery feel to it, which isn't bad, it is just a matter of preference.

What color would you prefer for this overgrip?
Color, doesn't matter to me, just as long it is not a girly color.

List any additional thoughts on the overall performance
I do have some concerns about perforated grip and the underside of the grip. I have played with a perforated overgrips before and the sweat would get underneath the grip and damage the original grip on the racquet. Also, because the underside of the grip does not have that rubbery material, I feel that when the underside of the overgrip gets damp and than dries it is going to stick to you original grip, and will damage your original grip upon removal. I find this also with the tourna grip when it absorb a lot of sweat. I don't find this problem with the Wilson or Babolat grips. Maybe, someone can comment on this. Also, I would like to know how often the other playtesters change their overgrips.

I enjoyed doing this playtest. Thanks TW.

I played for 2 hours over thanksgiving as it was in the 60s outside. The grip was interesting. I had it on 2 rackets, as I am doing some string testing at the moment (it never ends, sadly). On one frame, my grip started slipping a few games into the match. I stuck with that frame for the first set and just dealt with the slipping. But when I switched to the fresh grip (both were fresh to start the day), no slipping occurred at all. I don't really know why this happened.

As a whole, the grip is decent. It's not as cushioned as I am used to, but this may change as the grip softens over time.

Which color overgrip did you receive? white

Do you typically use an overgrip?
Yes

If yes, which one do you use? volkl super grip II

Was the test grip easy to apply (any wrinkles during install, did the grip lay down nicely?) Yes. I have no problem at all to put it on with no wrinkles and lay down very nicely.

Was it sized appropriately (e.g., was it long enough?) I like the have my over grip overlap 1/4 of the grip width and able to wrap all the way to the top. the length is good for me.

Level of tackiness (did your hand stick/slip too much?) The grip feels tack. was playing well when I was warming up. Today is a bit over 60s and I play outdoor. Once start playing and get sweetie, the grip start to slip and I am afraid the racket will fly out on serve and have to hold back.

Longevity of Tackiness. It seems not matter much in this case, once my hand get sweet, the tackiness is gone and does not help. In that sense, it went away pretty quickly.

Level of sweat absorption. Not too good but better than the volkl super grip II. it is possible the perforate helped. it also not as slippery as volkl super grip II.

Would you consider using this overgrip? I don't see I have problem to use this grip since I am using volkl super grip II, which is a bit thicker. But the nice perforated feather does help on sweat absorption and not as slip as the flat overgrip.

What color would you prefer for this overgrip?
white. I do not like any other color in grip.

List any additional thoughts on the overall performance. It is a decent grip. I am using volkl grip and get use to it. if I change it regularly, this is a good choice.

Thanks tw and volkl for the play testing.

Which color overgrip did you receive? Neon/Lime Green
Do you typically use an overgrip? Yes, All the time!
If yes, which one do you use? Prince Tacky Pro or Wilson Pro
Was the test grip easy to apply (any wrinkles during install, did the grip lay down nicely?)
I had no problems installing the overgrips. I did notice, that if I pulled the overgrip too tightly, the perforations stretched and looked stupid, so I made sure not to pull it too tightly. (I tend to pull them tight)
Was it sized appropriately (e.g., was it long enough?) Yes, I always had more than enough to completely cover the handle. I put them on several frames, and had no problems.
Level of tackiness (did your hand stick/slip too much?) Very High, I thought they were tackier than anything I have ever used, and stayed that way longer as well. Normally mine turn into a softer feel, and these remained tacky a lot longer. I actually prefer the softer feeling for my frames.
Longevity of Tackiness So far, it has been over 6 hours on the first frame I put them on, and it is still very tacky, but too dirty to continue.
Level Of Sweat Absorption: I don't ever have problems with overgrips, and I hate Tournagrip. So I guess I don't require the higher level of sweat absorption. So for me, these overgrips have performed great, just a little too tacky, if I had to find something to complain about.
Would you consider using this overgrip?
Yes, I actually would. The more I use them, the more I am liking the level of tackiness! It feels like my racquet is taped to my hand! BUT, it doesn't allow me to get as many spins when I spin my frame in my hand (a small complaint, and doesn't inhibit the performance, but I do it a lot, and enjoy it!)
What color would you prefer for this overgrip? I love the look of White, but hate how they look ragged quickly. So I would go with Black, but I would also buy white if it was available.
List any additional thoughts on the overall performance I thought these were great! My complaints were few and trivial. Although it is a small part of the equation, Overgrips are still important to me. I have a lot of them, and will buy some of these if they make it to see the market. I like options, and always have a stash of OG reels (I don't buy 3 packs anymore). Thank you Tennis Warehouse and Volkl for the opportunity to test these Overgrips!! They look amazing on my Volkl racquet (power Bridge 8)! Actually they look great on all my frames! I really like my Kblade team 104, Pure Aero Tour, O3 White Ls 100, and Textreme Tour 100T, with their new flourescent overgrips. It is now next to impossible to lose them, as you can probably see these in the dark!! They are very bright!! I let my mom try out the 104 team, and she has issues with my racquets slipping out of her hand (I have almost killed her, I hate scratches on my racquets). She loves them, and will definitely be getting them (or I would put them on any frame she is going to hit with :D) Thank you again TW and Volkl!

Edit: I have been using these more, and they are growing on me. I will definitely be buying these, for myself, and for my mother. She is already asking me to get her some, because she now has total confidence that the racquet will not slip out of her hand. I have not had any issues with the dye coming off on my hand like some of the other playtesters with colored overgrips, so that is just one more positive comment about them. At the end of the playtest, if you have an expected date that TW will have them in stock. It would be great to find out that date. Thanks again TW and Volkl!

Which color overgrip did you receive? WHITE

Do you typically use an overgrip? YES

If yes, which one do you use? ORIGINAL BLUE TOURNA GRIP

Was the test grip easy to apply (any wrinkles during install, did the grip lay down nicely?) ABSOLUTELY, MUCH EASIER THAN THE TOURNA I USE. LAYED DOWN VERY NICELY AND HAD THE NICE STARTER ADHESIVE AND WAS CUT TO LAY DOWN ON THE BUTT PERFECTLY.

Was it sized appropriately (e.g., was it long enough?) YES. I WOULD SAY IT WAS ABOUT THE SAME LENGTH AS THE TOURNA XXL. MORE THAN ENOUGH FOR LONG HANDLES.

Level of tackiness (did your hand stick/slip too much?) IT WAS VERY TACKY FEELING UNLIKE TOURNA. HOWEVER, IT DID NOT ABSORB SWEAT LIKE THE TOURNA. NEVER FELT REALLY COMFORTABLE AGAINST HARD SERVING WHEN RETURNING.

Longevity of Tackiness TACKINESS FEELING REMAINED THROUGHOUT THE THREE SETS.

Level of sweat absorption THIS IS WHERE IT WAS POOR FOR ME AND WHY I USE TOURNA. HOWEVER, FOR THIS TYPE OF GRIP I WOULD SAY IT WAS IN LINE WITH WILSON PRO OVERGRIP.

Would you consider using this overgrip? NO. NO KNOCK ON THE GRIP, I JUST CANT USE THIS TYPE.

What color would you prefer for this overgrip? I REALLY LIKED THE WHITE. ITS SO CLEAN LOOKING!

List any additional thoughts on the overall performance When first putting on the grip I fell in love, as it was so easy to put on. It had the starter adhesive and was cut just like the Wilson Pro Overgrips. Also, I loved the tackiness of the grip. I would say the thickness was thicker than the Wilson Pro Overgrip Perforated, but didnt have the dry feeling of the Perforated. Again, this grip felt VERY similar to the Wilson Pro Overgrip. Unfortunately, I cant use these types of grips as my hands sweat EXTREMELY bad.
I played indoors because we have had some MISERABLE weather here, and it was about 75 degrees on the fast, indoor courts. I play 4.5, and when facing a huge server, I actually lost the racquet when returning a serve. The level of absorbent was just not there. Again, if you play Wilson Pro Overgrip, this would be a must try for you!!!

THANK YOU FOR GIVING ME THIS OPPORTUNITY TW, TT, AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST VOLKL! I REALLY LOOK FORWARD TO FUTURE PLAYTESTS!

Almost ready to leave a review. I do see the grip being nice (*very nice) for the players who do not have such sweaty palm issue. I gave one to my hitting partner to get his perspective, and all he had were positives. He liked the tacky feel, durability and overall cushioned feel from somewhat of a thin grip. He doesn't have the sweat problem, but he has tendency to grip his racket too loosely. With this grip, he felt he was less worried about his racket flying out of his hand due to the tackiness that holds the racket in its place in his palm.

I, on the other hand, felt this grip has about two hour limit before it becomes too slippery and dangerous to play. That comes suddenly, though. From something that has nice traction to something that becomes slippery happens suddenly. I probably would not use this grip in the hot summer days. The racket almost felt like it would slip out of my hands while serving.

Review of Volkl Super Perforated Grip

Which color overgrip did you receive? White
Do you typically use an overgrip? All the time since I use a leather grip as my main grip.
If yes, which one do you use? A long-time user of Yonex Super Grap and Wilson Pro Overgrip (both in white).
Was the test grip easy to apply (any wrinkles during install, did the grip lay down nicely?) Extremely easy. It doesn’t wrinkle, nor loosen after installation. It has a taper on one end with a built-in sticky portion for easy installation.
Was it sized appropriately (e.g., was it long enough?) I had to cut the end by a good 2” and I typically wrap my overgrips all the way up the handle up to the throat of the racquet.
Level of tackiness (did your hand stick/slip too much?) When new, it feels tackier than either Yonex Super Grap or Wilson Pro Overgrip. It’s not too sticky where I couldn’t change grips fast enough, so that’s a plus.
Longevity of Tackiness: I played 5 sets of doubles and an additional few hours of hitting this weekend. As expected, the grip got dirty; however, the tackiness didn’t go away. After a 4-day weekend of hitting, I’d have to change overgrips at this point with my current overgrip.
Level of sweat absorption: I don’t have very sweaty hands and I live in NorCal where it’s dry and cold this time of year. However, it’s been misty in the early morning when I play and the extra dampness doesn’t seem to affect the grip at all.
Would you consider using this overgrip? Possibly. I am picky when it comes to overgrips as I don’t want them too tacky nor too slippery (e.g. used Tournagrip). The right blend is Yonex Super Grap or Wilson Pro Overgrip, but it lasts me around a week before the handle starts to slip in my hand. If I can use this overgrip longer, then I would make the switch.
What color would you prefer for this overgrip? White is my go-to color but I can go with a neon yellow if I’m feeling adventurous. I’ve also rocked pink overgrips in the past.
List any additional thoughts on the overall performance
This grip seems slightly thicker and wider than Yonex Super Grap or Wilson Pro Overgrip. Since I use an L2 grip, it doesn’t bother me as much. The material in the Volkl grip feels a bit more like rubber and not like a fabric, but it doesn't really affect performance. Reminds me of a Prince overgrip (can’t recall the name at the moment). The perforations didn't affect my play at all.

Thanks to Volkl and Tennis Warehouse for the playtest opportunity!

Which color overgrip did you receive?
Black

Do you typically use an overgrip?
Yes

If yes, which one do you use?
Volkl V-Dry, Wilson Pro, Solinco Heaven, Tournagrip

Was the test grip easy to apply (any wrinkles during install, did the grip lay down nicely?)

I experienced some slack going from the butt cap to the handle that would wrinkle unless i pulled the overgrip very taut, but otherwise it was very easy to apply. It was on par with the other overgrips that I've installed in the past.

Was it sized appropriately (e.g., was it long enough?)

The length of the overgrip was fine. I wrap with a small amount of overlap (1/8" to 3/16" overlap) and I had plenty of overgrip left by the time I got to the top of the grip. I play with a L3 gripsize.

Level of tackiness (did your hand stick/slip too much?)

My hands do not perspire much so most overgrips work fine for me. The Volkl Super Perf OG was no different. I had no issues with the level of tackiness nor did i experience any slipping of the grip.

Longevity of Tackiness

I found the longevity of the tackiness to be quite good. After a 2 hour hitting session the overgrip was still very fresh feeling and new looking. Will continue to update as I spend more time using the overgrip.

Level of sweat absorption

I can't comment on level of sweat absorption because winter time in So Cal is generally so dry that my skin starts to crack. On top of that my hands don't sweat perspire profusely during the summer. only the hottest, muggiest days during the summer cause my overgrips to become too saturated after a few hours.

Would you consider using this overgrip?

Yes, i would consider using this overgrip. Frankly, i'm not terribly picky when it comes to overgrips. The majority work fine for me although I did find Yonex SuperGrap to be too tacky and did not last very long.

What color would you prefer for this overgrip?

I tend to like to color coordinate/match my overgrips' color with the colors of the racquet and strings so whatever colors complement the color scheme of the racquets and strings is generally the one I will install.

For example, I have a Fischer Mag Speed Pro 1 in the Yellow/Green graphics. I prefer to apply a green or yellow overgrip for this stick. For my Red and White Pure Storm GTs, i will usually use a black or white overgrip although if i string it up with green V-Torque, i'll wrap a green V-Dry overgrip. I'm not picky about color at all as long as it goes well with the rest of the colors.

List any additional thoughts on the overall performance

I've found Volkl overgrips to be quite durable. The-dry overgrip can last me up to an entire month. Super Perf while tackier than V-Dry seems to be equally durable. I would have no issue using and interchanging between Super Perf, V-Dry, Heaven, and Wilson Pro. this appears to be an equally high quality product. Nice feel, good durabilty - checks all my requirements.

Thank you, TeeDoubleYou and Volkl for the opportunity to playtest this product!

Which color overgrip did you receive?
Red

Do you typically use an overgrip?

Yes

If yes, which one do you use?

It depends on the weather. 90% of the time I use a white Wilson Pro Perforated. I live where it is very dry and sweat is not often a concern for me unless it is July/August. When I go on vacation to somewhere humid I almost always use an absorbant grip instead of a tacky one and then it is a Tourna original or Prince DryPro.

Was the test grip easy to apply (any wrinkles during install, did the grip lay down nicely?)

It was fairly easy to apply, although it does not stretch quite as much as others making the second wrap from the butt - the one when the angle starts - just a bit tougher to get flat. Not a big deal, but worth mentioning. I don't remove the backing from the sticky starting tab as I hate having the residue buildup on my base grip. (I know it shouldn't matter, but it bugs me)

Was it sized appropriately (e.g., was it long enough?)

It was long enough for both the racquets I used it on - both with a 3/8 grip. Because it does not stretch like the Pro Perforated I did not have as much left over at the top.

Level of tackiness (did your hand stick/slip too much?)

Tackiness was quite nice. More than Pro Perf, but not so much as a MegaTac. I would say it is close to perfect for me.

Longevity of Tackiness

Close to twice that of the Pro Perf. It is one of the longer lasting that I have used. Normally I get about 2-3 good days and then a day or two of ok usage before I swap. Less if I am playing outdoors as the ball get dirtier, which ends up on my grip. Outdoors I normally swap after 3 days.

Level of sweat absorption

I am playing indoors at a club that has been having heater problems. I'm not sweating much right now.

Would you consider using this overgrip?

I would if they sell it in 12 or 30 packs so it is affordable per grip. I almost never by three packs.

What color would you prefer for this overgrip?

I like the look of black best, but in most tacky overgrips I buy I like the feel of the white better. The fact that I liked this one so well in a color bodes well.

List any additional thoughts on the overall performance

The red color came off on my hand. I didn't notice it until one hitting session that I was swapping racquets with one that had a white Pro Perforated and then saw that the color was ending up on the white grip. With that in mind, it would probably discolor a white replacement grip. Orange Super Grap did this as well.

I switch overgrips during the year depending on temperature. This is a contender for a good fall through spring grip. I find that perforated grips handle the sweat better than non perforated, so this may be good for me for all but the hottest few weeks here.

Kudos, and thanks to TW and Volkl.

Which color overgrip did you receive?
White

Do you typically use an overgrip?
Always use an overgrip over leather grip

If yes, which one do you use?
I've pretty much tried all brands. Ones that I've liked were Wilson Pro, Volkl V-Dry, Gamma Pro, Tourna, Kimony Perforated and Yonex Supergrab. And there was a real nice and thick overgrip from Tecnifibre that I liked but forgot its name.

Was the test grip easy to apply (any wrinkles during install, did the grip lay down nicely?)
Just like any other overgrip... I didn't find it any easier or more difficult.

Was it sized appropriately (e.g., was it long enough?)
Its length was..., again, just like any other overgrips I've tried, which is they are long enough with a little extra that needed to be cut off. There was enough to wrap nice and tight and had some extra to trim off.

Level of tackiness (did your hand stick/slip too much?)
I felt it was very tacky and grippy. When it was cold and I wasn't warmed up, being stuck in my palm I felt the pull. Once warmed up, it was very comfortable.

Longevity of Tackiness
Grip doesn't seem to lose its tackiness even after a few hours of play. I found it very durable.

Level of sweat absorption
Not much, but I sweat a lot. I wanted another opinion, so I gave a grip to my hitting partner to get his input. He loved it. He doesn't have the sweaty palm problem, so even after three hours of somewhat competitive tennis, he felt there was a plenty of grip. It never felt slippery to him.

I, on the other hand, felt this grip gets slippery... suddenly without much warning. For about couple of hours of leisurely playing, it was nice. But after that two hour mark, though, it began to feel slippery. It got too slippery to continue to play shortly afterwards. Just like most tacky overgrips, there isn't enough sweat absorption with this grip. Once the grip gets soaked in sweat, the tacky surface turns to something really slippery. I don't think the perforation helped at all in absorbing sweat.

Would you consider using this overgrip?
I probably wouldn't.

What color would you prefer for this overgrip?
I like the black grips. I just don't like seeing stains.

List any additional thoughts on the overall performance
I felt the grip was nice with cushiony feel. I also liked how it looked. The only and major downside for me is how slippery it gets. It got so slippery, I just couldn't trust the grip any more.
Since the overgrips are so thin, I understand the limits in sweat absorption. But I would always search for the grips with best sweat absorption. I would want a dependable grip that will not fail me when game gets more competitive. This grip may be good for leisurely playing, but I don't think it can work for people who play tennis competitively. This grip with better sweat absorption would be great.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to participate in this playtest. Thank you, TW. Thank you, Volkl.

(I know it shouldn't matter, but it bugs me)
exactly what happened to me as well.

Which color overgrip did you receive? - Orange

Do you typically use an overgrip? - Yes

If yes, which one do you use? - Wilson Pro Overgrip

Was the test grip easy to apply (any wrinkles during install, did the grip lay down nicely?) - The test grip was very easy to apply. Didn't show any wrinkles at the buttcap area during install. With just a little stretch the grip laid down perfectly.

Was it sized appropriately (e.g., was it long enough?) - Yes, since I play without a replacement grip and just an overgrip for the bevel feel, I always overlap the grip wide and thick. This volkl grip came out perfectly enough for me to not cut the tip off.

Level of tackiness (did your hand stick/slip too much?) - High tackiness, just like Yonex Supergrab and Wilson Pro Overgrip. My hand didn't slip during the match. I was able to swing my racquet with a relaxed and easy grip of my hand. Since I play without a replacement grip, some overgrips, such as Head XtremeSoft and most dry overgrips, slips the overlap of the grip. However, this volkl grip didn't slip even after the tackiness was gone.

Longevity of Tackiness - Just like any overgrip, for me, the tackiness went away after about 10 hours of hitting.

Level of sweat absorption - My hand doesn't sweat much so this wasn't an issue for me.

Would you consider using this overgrip? - This overgrip is definitely one of the best and I would recommend others to use it, but I've been using Wilson Pro Overgrip for a very long time and I really love it, so I wouldn't consider switching.

What color would you prefer for this overgrip? - I would prefer white overgrip, so I can just replace it when it gets dirty.

List any additional thoughts on the overall performance - Volkl Overgrip wasn't lacking anything significant. The feel and tackiness was there. The grip was thin and gave me the bevel feel I wanted. Overall, this overgrip was amazing and I would consider it as one of the top overgrips I've used so far.

Everytime

If yes, which one do you use?
Recently I been using prince grips.

Was the test grip easy to apply (any wrinkles during install, did the grip lay down nicely?)
No issues at all installing this grip.

Was it sized appropriately (e.g., was it long enough?)
It was sized appropriately.

Level of tackiness (did your hand stick/slip too much?)
I live in California, and the tackiness was great. It did not slip out of my hand at all. It has the tackiness of a Yonex grip but the traction on it is slightly different.

Longevity of Tackiness
I played with 8 hours and there is still a fair amount of tackiness.

Level of sweat absorption
It was decent for sweat absorption. The racket did not slip out of my hands at all.

Would you consider using this overgrip?
Yes, I would definitely use this overgrip. I am considering buying a pack of this contingent on the price of a 30 pack if it is offered.

What color would you prefer for this overgrip?
I am a traditionalists, so white or black should be fine.

List any additional thoughts on the overall performance
The perforated grip is usually not a grip I think highly of, but in this case, I think this is my favorite perforated grip. It has a great amount of tackiness and seems pretty durable.

Unique TournaTac

Was the test grip easy to apply?
The bottom was a little long for how I like to wrap my rackets, so I cut off a few cm's off the beginning of the grip. The first initial wrap around the flare of the butt cap wrinkled a little bit due to the perforations, but I was able to smooth it out pretty easy.

Was it sized appropriately?
Didn't measure the exact length, but I was able to wrap it as high up as I normally would with any other overgrip even after I cut off some of it.

Level of tackiness?
Tackiness was good, not as initially tacky as TournaTac, but after some use the tackiness was comparable.

Longevity of Tackiness?
Still tacky after several days use. On par with TournaTac.

Level of sweat absorption?
Don't really have sweaty hands when I play. I did wet my hands with some water and the grip absorbed it pretty quickly and I didn't have any slipping issues. Grip was just as tacky.

Would you consider using this overgrip?
Yes, it's similar enough to TournaTac and I did like the feel of the perforations.

What color would you prefer for this overgrip?
Probably won't happen, but Tournagrip Blue

List any additional thoughts on the overall performance

Good grip that seems to hold its characteristics well over time. If the price is similar to TournaTac, I could see myself switching. This is much more tacky than Wilson Pro and much more durable. It seems like it might be a tad thicker than TournaTac, but not by much. Much closer in feel and durability to TournaTac than Wilson Pro.

Thanks TW and Volkl. Always enjoy being able to participate in these playtests.

Which color overgrip did you receive?
Neon yellow
Do you typically use an overgrip?
Yes. I have been using one as a base grip recently as well.
If yes, which one do you use?
Mostly Wilson Pro (WP), but Tourna Tac (TT) and Super Grap depending on what's on sale.
Was the test grip easy to apply (any wrinkles during install, did the grip lay down nicely?)
No major issues. After applying one or two it's just like any other tapered overgrip. Also easy to remove.
Was it sized appropriately (e.g., was it long enough?)
Yes. It is shorter than WP and similar in length to TT, but wider than both. Overall, the areas are similar.
Level of tackiness (did your hand stick/slip too much?)
Slightly smoother than WP or TT, but still plenty of tack.
Longevity of Tackiness
Great. Grip feels surprisingly similar to a new one after two weeks and 12 hours of play (3.5 singles rallying, 8.5 doubles play). Did not soften like WP.
Level of sweat absorption
Good, but I used this grip only indoors. During a more intense warm-up, I would notice a buildup of sweat on the grip under my palm. I never lost control of the racket, but I was concerned. After a quick wipe of the hands and grip I was fine for the rest of the session. Not sure if the grip absorbed better when warm, or I stopped sweating as much. I tested the [cold] absorption with a drop of water on unused pieces of grip. The droplet did not absorb much into the this Volkl grip, while it quickly absorbed into the WP and TT.
Would you consider using this overgrip?
Yes, if priced competitively. Perhaps without the perforations too.
What color would you prefer for this overgrip?
White. The yellow does look nice on my Yonex Ai 98 though.
List any additional thoughts on the overall performance
For heavy sweaters, or in the summer, this grip may not absorb enough. For winter/indoor use, or for someone who towels off frequently, this grip could work very well for its consistent feel hour after hour.
After use, there will be little dirty dots on the grip underneath where the perforations are. Purely a cosmetic detail, but weird the first time.

The more I use this grip, the more I'm starting to like it and possibly prefer it over my normal TournaTac.

I find I am also preferring the Volkl over my normal. I have kept it on one racquet and my normal Wilson Pro Perforated on another. The Volkl lasts longer and has better feel/grip. As long as they bring the black version out in a multi pack I'll probably switch.

I know it's unlikely, but I just wish they had a Tourna blue color. Been using Tourna since I started playing tennis and my grip just looks weird to me in any other color.

Do you typically use an overgrip? Yes.

If yes, which one do you use?
I normally use Wilson Pro Overgrips or Yonex Super Grap.

Was the test grip easy to apply (any wrinkles during install, did the grip lay down nicely?)
I felt like I had to work with this grip a little more to get the wrinkles out and get the tight fit that I normally like, especially when starting at the butt cap. You also need to be careful when stretching the grip during application because too much tension will elongate the perforations. Some of this is on me because I don’t normally use perforated overgrips.

Was it sized appropriately (e.g., was it long enough?)
The length was perfect for me but I don’t overlap more than a 1/8 inch and I normally stretch the overgrip a little bit as I am putting it on so there is a little less material and a firmer feel.

Level of tackiness (did your hand stick/slip too much?)
My hand did not slip while using the Volkl overgrip but I am playing indoors right now and temperatures are much cooler. I think this grip is tacky but it does not seem to be as tacky as the Wilson Pro or Yonex Super Grap and it might feel that way to me because of the perforations.

Longevity of Tackiness
The tackiness seemed to start fading after the 3 to 4 hour mark for me. The grip did not become unusable it just started losing that sticky feeling.

Level of sweat absorption
Due to weather being much cooler in the ******* at this time of year it was not an issue for me.
EDIT: I live in the *******, I don't work for *******. LOL

Would you consider using this overgrip?
I think I would use this grip but it would be hard to replace my two current favorites. The Volkl is a good grip but it is not quite the same as what I am used to using.

What color would you prefer for this overgrip?
White or Black because it won’t look bad on any racquet and I normally buy the 30 pack of grips.

List any additional thoughts on the overall performance
Thanks to Volkl and TW for the chance to try something new!

Which color overgrip did you receive?
Green.

Do you typically use an overgrip?
Always. Two layers of overgrip on the bare handle (no regular grip underneath). For this test, I left an existing layer (Tournagrip) on the handle and put the Volkl over that.

If yes, which one do you use?
Tournagrip in the 9 warmer months of the year (I have sweaty hands) and Wilson Pro or Tourna Tac in the winter months

Was the test grip easy to apply (any wrinkles during install, did the grip lay down nicely?)
Very easy. No wrinkling at all.

Was it sized appropriately (e.g., was it long enough?)
The grip was long enough, even with a reasonable amount of overlap (say, 1/8 inch) and no stretching required. Very nice, compared to regular Tournagrip, which is cut too short.

Level of tackiness (did your hand stick/slip too much?)
Pretty tacky on installation. This felt very nice for a winter grip, while my hands were still dry.

Longevity of Tackiness

The tackiness lasted about 8 hours, which seems longer than the other tacky grips I have used.

Level of sweat absorption
When I first got these grips, I thought they were just what the doctor ordered for this time of the year. But this past weekend, we got up unto the 70’s, so I definitely worked up a sweat for my match earlier today, and these grips really are not very absorbent. I found the racquet slipping a bit after my hand got wet, so these won’t do at all in the warmer months for me. But when winter really arrives, I could see myself using these for the few colder months when I don’t sweat.

Would you consider using this overgrip?
Only in the colder months. Here in NC, that’s only a few months of the year, as it’s warm enough most of the year for me to break a sweat, and then I need an absorbent overgrip more than a tacky one.

What color would you prefer for this overgrip?
No preference, as long as it’s not pink.

List any additional thoughts on the overall performance
These felt very nice. Somewhat rubbery, but that’s OK for the colder months when I want something tacky. It lasted much longer than Tournagrip (but then, every other grip lasts longer than Tournagrip). These will be just fine for me once the temperatures stay down in the 30’s and 40’s.

Thanks to Volkl and Tennis Warehouse to the opportunity to try out these grips.

Wilson Pro

Was the test grip easy to apply (any wrinkles during install, did the grip lay down nicely?)

It seemed to be a little thicker than the wilson pro but the install was very easy and had no wrinkles.

Was it sized appropriately (e.g., was it long enough?)

There was plenty to wrap my handle as it is not as long as other handles but i dont see a problem wrapping longer handles too.

Level of tackiness (did your hand stick/slip too much?)

The tackiness was perfect and lasted throughout the playtest. It was more tack than Im use to but it felt good and never had a problem switching grips.

Longevity of Tackiness

3 sets and then an hour of hitting and the tack is still the same.

Level of sweat absorption

It was not to hot out when i played so didnt really sweat much so cant really confirm.

Would you consider using this overgrip?

Yes

What color would you prefer for this overgrip?

White

List any additional thoughts on the overall performance:

There was no down side to this grip. It was excellent all around. I did notice that the color bleed on my hand but it was barley noticable. It had a different feel compared to the wilson pro, it felt a little rubbery but still felt good. I gave a grip to my hitting partner and he loved the color and said it was way better than the perforated Babolat grip that he uses. He commented on how his regular grip would start to tear by now but the volkl one still looked like new. He said he would definitely buy this grip.

Long-term playtest update. It's been a couple more weeks since I've used the grip and it's still going strong. In fact, it's much better after a bit of usage as some of the tack has dissipated and it's at a point where it's really comfortable switching grips. In fact, I added a second overgrip to my backup frame and the new grip is too tacky at this point, go figure. I'll be on the look out for this grip when it comes out. Again thank you TW and Volkl!

Which color overgrip did you receive? Red.
Do you typically use an overgrip? Always
If yes, which one do you use? Tourna
Was the test grip easy to apply (any wrinkles during install, did the grip lay down nicely?) Very easy to apply. No wrinkles. In fact, i had no problems even though I wrapped my first one backwards (with the tapered end left to last) because I didn't realize there was a tapered end.
Was it sized appropriately (e.g., was it long enough?) Yes. I stretch my overgrips a bit and I had extra left over. I use a one handed backhand, so usually as it gets to the top of the grip I don't care too much what is left over.
Level of tackiness (did your hand stick/slip too much?) Not normally a tacky grip user, but this one felt nice. It had some tackiness, but not too much. The one thing that gave me some issue was that it slipped just a bit within the first 25 minutes of use. I live in the south and have sweaty hands, so this may not be a problem for most. However, i didn't have any problems when using a used grip or after that initial "break-in" period.
Longevity of Tackiness I have used and re-used a couple of these grips and they have stayed consistent. I have demoed two sets of racquets (thanks, TW) during this playtest and have re-wrapped them on each one. I have no complaints here.
Level of sweat absorption These grips never got water-logged like a tourna grip does. I honestly didn't have any problems with extra sweat once I got through that initial break-in period, which I cannot explain.
Would you consider using this overgrip? Yes. Especially during the cooler months. I am also tempted to try them during the height of summer to see if it extends the life of my overgrip. During July or August, i might only get two matches out of a tournagrip. The Volkl seems like it will last well beyond that.
What color would you prefer for this overgrip? Red was cool. One of my buddies loved this color and his praise earned him a free grip. I would buy black or grey as well.
List any additional thoughts on the overall performance. This grip has more cushion than i am used to, but that was nice. It certainly isn't too thick either though. This was a nice product. It felt well made and did not feel cheap.

Thanks for the opportunity, Volkl and TW. By the way, 3 of my 8 racquet demos were Volkls as well. Love the Volkl feel.

It is really durable..., and I am thinking that the durable surface is the cause of slipping when it gets wet. It gets way too slippery as soon as it begins to feel wet.

Do you typically use an overgrip?
Every time
If yes, which one do you use?
I have tried wilson pro, volkl v-dry, volkl biofeel, prince dura pro, and currently using yonex super grap
Was the test grip easy to apply (any wrinkles during install, did the grip lay down nicely?)
This overgrip was just as simple to install as all of the other overgrips I have tried.
Was it sized appropriately (e.g., was it long enough?)
I measured one before I installed it and the length was 42 inches x 1-1/8 inches. There was some extra at the end that I cut off. I have a two hand backhand so I need it to go all of the way. When I installed super grap I remember there being more leftover length than this volkl overgrip.
Level of tackiness (did your hand stick/slip too much?)
This is a tacky overgrip. It is a little more tacky than the super grap that I currently use. I tested this out in 40s/50s outdoor dry weather and this was the right amount of tackiness for cool dry weather.
Longevity of Tackiness
Played with this overgrip for about 4-5 hours and it still feels like new condition.
Level of sweat absorption
I cannot comment on sweat absorption as I normally do not have sweaty hands and I played in cool dry weather.
Would you consider using this overgrip?
If the price is the same, I would use this during the cooler months or in low humidity.
What color would you prefer for this overgrip?
Red. It matched well with my 6.1 95

Over the play test this overgrip performed well. It seems very durable and it is great in dry cool weather or if you do not sweat very much.
