I just soak the pallet in hot water which will loosen up the glue, and remove. Easy. Usually the old adhesive is enough to pop the new ones on.

Racquet handle in the water? Does it affect the pallet after for possible reuse?

I figure the adhesive should be good enough but out of habit I try and clean the handle and put in a fresh adhesive layer

So I have a few RTXLMPZ one of which I recently capped. I was surprised to find it feels more crisp. I’ve read as such before but didn’t think it would be this pronounced.

Should I expect it to mellow as the grommets bed in or become more crisp with a few more stringjobs?

It still feels good, just different.

What would be the minimum specs for a pt57a to be playable? 335 Grams static weight strung, would that be possible?
How high is the swing weight on the pro stock PT57a when the lead is removed?

Anyone try solinco tourbite soft 17 in a radical zebra? So sweeeet!! Strung at 22 kg...

I don't know if it's a good choise. I've tried Zebra with Kirsh PLX 1.25 / S. gut at 24 kg and it's quite loose. I haven't got enaugh control. So, as for me, Zebra needs at list 25 kilo and 26 is optimal. I've tried n.gut/poli on Zebra and it needs some time to adjust to control extra power.

I have two Bumblebees strung with Tourna Premium Poly at 49 lbs and the control and spin is outstanding. I had been playing gut mains poly crosses and while the feel was sweeter, i am playing better with the full poly. Have two Zebras in for the same stringing so will see about that very soon.

I had this in a racquet recently and played really well.
My question, have tried the cyclone 19, and what would you string it at to have it be similar to the 18.
(Or the 18L to 18). Tighter?

I found this string to feel very “dead“ when strung at too high a tension. Generally speaking, a thinner gauge will string up “tighter” in feel at any given tension . So I might go even a little bit lower to get the best from the 19 gauge. [emoji471][emoji462][emoji471]

With the 18 gauge at 44 pounds the racket played in an absolutely sublime manner Very lively, but still with tons of control. I also felt the spin was enhanced.

Are you playing oversize or mid Bumblebee?

Is Dunlop NT tour 18 20 arm friendly for those who have arm issues ? Please review it in terms of feel, control, stability, manuverability, power, spin, stiffness etc.

Only issue I had was serves felt solid at 1st but when I was serving during a set of doubles, I started to feel a twinge in my elbow on full swings similar to when I was playing with the TC97. It made me a little nervous & tentative. Only 2nd time I've felt this in the past 8 yrs. I'm not sure if it's because it is not enough HL balance, too high SW, or technique. I'm going to tail weight even more to bring it to my usual balance & see how it goes.

I got a Lite Tour 630 some weeks ago and was astonished at how it feels head heavy. In order to take it to my preferred balance, around 32cm, I put some strips of Wilson lead tape around the pallets, then added a leather grip.

This led me closer to my target, but was not yet enough. I decided to add something externally, so that I could remove it if needed.
I attached a 2 euro coin with some tack below the buttcap. One can see Dante Alighieri's face.

Still that was not enough, and I added a 20cent coin. That was enough, now the balance is 32cm.

Owner of 2 PT57E's here.... Any recommendations on string set ups?
I've enjoyed a shaped/textured poly main with a smooth poly cross. Have used various types. This sticks out to me. Tier 1 T1 Firewire 17/Isospeed Baseline speed or spin. 45#

I've also really enjoyed gut/poly at 53/50

I'm just a couple pounds lower in string tension but generally agree with these recommendations. My frames are twenty plus years young, have been left in warm and cold trunks and still play like the day I bought them. I like a Fed set-up with a gut or synth in the mains and a copoly in the crosses a few pounds lighter. A cost saving seriously good set-up is Prince lightning pro in the mains and genesis true grit in the crosses.

Just curious, wont the strings move a lot of you have syn gut in mains?

It's ok with an 18x20. With an open pattern anything other than poly mains drives me mad. A decent syn gut is fine for a cross IMO. I like solinco outlast/pro-stacked which comes together in a pack.

But is the syn arm friendly. Its just cheap i guess. In the name of best of both worlds i guess it does nothing. But then i havent tried many syn guts :)

Terrible string, no spin, no control, strange feel...that's why it's cheap.

That's a pretty subjective comment aimed at a broad spectrum of strings. I find that polys have the dead feel and it is why you need to string it so low to get anything out of it. The final straw was when I was doing natty gut hybrids and stringing the poly crosses at 20% lower tension than the natty would warp the classic Prestige/Elite/Elektra frames. I would imagine the PT57 would be similar.

Poly did not have the market share it does now when I got my PT 280.
17g Silver Prince S.G. was my string back then, when I did not use natural gut.

I string the Lightning Pro at 52 in the mains and the True grit (or tourna silver - both good) at 49. As somebody else said, it's an 18/20 tight string bed and the strings barely ever move. I like both of these set-ups very much. I used to use the Prince Synthetic Gut in the mains but this Lightning Pro provides the same durability with a lot more pop for just a couple dollars more. 4.0 Doubles Specialist (playing 40 years) that still does a lot of winning.

From my experience syn gut as a full bed or as a hybrid is terrible for spin and control.

That's crazy! The Fed set-up (Djoker also strings the gut in the mains) with a lively multi or synth gives you sick control. I generate enough top and going full poly or poly mains makes my shots fall too short.

I also use 17g which gives me even more control. I actually bought some Klip Armour Gut a while back (waiting till Summer break to have it installed hybrid - I'm a HS teacher), but I suspect I'm not going to like it as much as this Lightning Pro.

The Lightning Pro is softer than any co-poly, much better than the acclaimed Prince Synthetic Gut in the comfort and pop department.

You just can’t compare the Fed or Djoker setup with natural gut in the mains with synthetic gut or multi, these strings are worlds apart.

Well it's not like I'm a stranger to how natural gut plays. Until the early 2000's that was basically all I used. And there is no question that synth gut/multi nylon based strings play much closer to natural gut than poly does. Poly revolutionized the sport back in 97 when Guga Kuerten won the French with hyperbolic spin shots using the new poly string introduced by Luxilon. (He played with a PT630 by the way.) Sampras, a natural gut advocate referred to the string as Cheatilon and retired a few years later (2002). Nylon strings play much closer to natural gut than poly because nothing grabs the ball or snaps back like poly does. So why doesn't everybody use poly 100% all the time? Because for one thing unless you're a pro that cuts the string out and restrings after every match (or even five hours of play), the strings don't maintain their performance characteristics. And on top of that, even the copolys are no match for nylon based or particularly natural gut in the comfort category.

No to mention that all of the classic beamed frames that came out of the Austrian facility (or least designed there) were designed to be paired with natty gut.. specifically the ribbon natty gut of that period (not what you see these days). Sure, some guys have found success using full bed of poly, co-poly, but it will only last what 2 hours of play? That means you would need to cut it out every time you play a match. Should be fine for touring pros, and players who play competitively on a tournament schedule.. but doesn't seem like a viable application for the most of us.

Saying all syn gut sucks because you don't like it.. is no different than saying Pizza sucks because you don't like that.

Well for me I think it is a great string. I get spin and control and the feel is strangely crisp.

I can produce my own spin with pretty much any set up. That said some racquets I have work better with certain type of strings. There are some strings that enhance spin for sure.

Synthetic gut is like a good old fashion peanut butter and jelly sandwich. That's not to say I don't enjoy a club sandwich from time to time.

The truly sad thing is, HEAD makes the Radical Tour 690 (Bumblebee) for Agassi and Sergio Casal. HEAD has the ability, the mold, and materials to make the racquets but they choose not to. you have to ask why can't they do the right thing? To me this 25th anniversary Radical has absolutely no value because its not a real Radical Tour 690 (Trisys 260 Bumblebee). They had a great idea but once again failed on execution.

Amazing how HEAD can do it for their Pros but can't for us with money in our hand. They will sell those fake racquets to Agassi fans and people that don't know any better.

So I recently acquired a Trysis 260 Bumblebee Made in China.. which doesn't have the Andre Agassi signature on it. It does say "Austria" on the side. What do I have here exactly?

From what I could tell, the Bee that I have that says Made in Austria is 20g heavier than the one that just says Austria on the throat. The Traveling Bumblebee said "Austria" only and was leaded up to the specs of the "Made In" model. They felt fairly similar to me when playing them. That's about as much as I can add...I'm sure there might be some more knowledgeable Trysis 260 people

^^ Thanks! I only own a few OS frames and added this one since it’s pretty iconic. Of the head frames.. the last one on the list to acquire is a twin tube zebra. Then it will be complete :)
