Hope he stays in the top 100 to avoid the gs qualification
Last significant HC competition for a while (125 points for the winner)...I’m wondering how many of the top seeds are making the much shorter commute to Houston on clay next week rather than the transatlantic schlep to Marrakech and beyond. Top seed Sandgren will try to defend finals points there. Ruud, Lorenzi and Granollers would be natural fits as would #3 López if he’s not too distracted by his new role as TD at MutuaMadrid M1K in early May.World no. 94 Casper Ruud returns to action later today at the Monterrey Challenger in Mexico. The Norwegian has been seeded no. 4 for the singles event and will take on Emilio Gomez of Ecuador in his opening match.

Next gen matchup of sons from 80’’s/90’s players Christian Ruud and Andres Gomez.Looks like CR is eager for clay, lost against this dude ranked 3xx.... did they give him an appearance fee or something??

Emilio played college tennis at USC instead of following his dad’s path straight into the pro circuit. I think he made a wise choice. His career high is #215 some five years ago, soon after he graduated.Did not know that! Cool!
Beat Dellian, a good clay player, 6&4. Broken just once so he’ll need that ratio to stay with big serving Opelka 2R.Another career high ranking #85
Oops i meant once againAnother career high ranking #85
Interested to see the outcome of Ruud v. Opelka.
Match-up-wise it's hell for caspr, but this being on clay therefore makes it an interesting proposition. The type of match that would be decisive to win, both to build confidence and get the ranking into higher territory.

Hate to dispel the clay court superiority of Ruud myth...Opelka was 12-5 on the dirt in ‘18, including a Bordeaux Challenger title. Wins over Gulbis and Kec were part of his dirt CV last year.On clay he should win, but I somehow doubt he will considering Opelka is pretty confident these days.. if CR protects his own serve well, anything can happen. Opelka in 3, 2 of them breakers.

Just saying RO can play on the dirt so giraffe on ice skates does not apply. In ‘18, 12-5 with a title >>>19-18 and a final, no?career: 81–56 vs 24–22
good peak, way less proven overall.

Casper takes out Opelka
Herlig!
Granollers awaits in the quarter final... thoughts?
Should be safe...cutoff date was last week or this week if I’m counting right (six weeks prior to May 26).
Did he attend Rafa's academy?

I'll be surprised if Marcel wins, he'll finally face somebody who can actually move properly on the dirt this tournament. Think Rudd will grind him down in straights.Casper takes out Opelka

Working.
beer in hand, Ruud on stream.
lookin' good, will win Båstad
Watching, with a glass of red. Granollers is the new junk. Grunting enormously on his 33th birthday, something traumatic?
Berlocq is even worse lolHis grunts have always been disgusting.

Watching his first two matches here, I've thought that he'd lose the first moment he's up against a decent clay-court player tbh...
Insane tennis by CR! Poor Marcel.
Grano was playing really badly.. i dont think Ruud will ever reach top 40.. He has a limited game, and is not good enough on the defence or on the backhand side.
