The softest poly I’ve ever used in my life !

I have no hard data numbers or proof all feel on court .’does not feel like a poly trying to be a multi . It’s a poly for sure . Spin is fantastic. I’m using 18x20 too . I’m getting same spin I was with Alu power
A lot softer than my volkl cyclone string as well .. I’ve used it for 5,hitting lessons with 5.0 players . Tension is holding well at 36 lbs . No weird notching . Bending the ball when needed . Able to flatten out when needed . It’s absolutely perfect for me and it’s my new string fo sho !
Thank you tier one
Ghost wire !!

Are you using it full bed ? did you try hybrid with natural gut ? It is also sold as the cross string for Firewire and that hybrid is called Firewire Boost, did you that ?

I have a few sets, but did not try the string yet, also have Firewire Boost to try.

Thanks, I am now getting exited to try it out.

Yes!! FULL BED :)
Loving it .
I so needed this to happen . I was worried I was done with all polyester. Just no matter what my arm would start acting up .. but so far so good . I’m on the 7th hour in total time elapsed with her .
I wish I could compare it to another string that is more popular. But I just can’t ..it’s low powered but when you crank it it goes . When you want to hit flat it goes flat but doesn’t sail . Normal launch angle too . Nothing weird or irregular. That’s the best thing I can say . It just doesn’t hit “ weird”.
Very trusty and normal . Does what it’s supposed to do with no surprises. And I like it full bed . Affordable too:)
White ! Thank god !

Yes sir I have tried head sp. couple years back . Wanted to love it . But it felt plasticeee to me for some odd reason . It wasn’t as soft as the numbers would have it .. low powered which was great but not any redeeming spin quality for me . Which sucks cuz I can get that string much easier and it’s cheaper too :( dang it

My setup is Tier One Firewire Boost which has Firewire in the mains with Ghostwire in the crosses. Firewire full bed feels softer than most polys. Then swap out the crosses with the smooth Ghostwire and it is very nice on the arm plus lasts longer versus a sharp main sawing at a sharp cross with Firewire.

Keep us informed as to how many hours you get from these strings before you have to restring. Thanks.

I liked GW full bed in my PK Q Tours. Currently have it as a cross with gut in my Tecnifibre TF40s, love the stuff!

what about Sonic Pro Edge? its quite nice in my Yonex Dr 100 - the best part is it hold tension so well :O its quite unbelebeeble!

Sorry y’all I tell ya the name at the end of my ramblings :
String manufacturer- TIER ONE
TYPE - Ghost Wire 16 gauge . Had another hit this morning still going strong . I’ve lost about 2 - 3 lbs I’d imagine but it’s staying at that tension .

At what tension did you string it for it to settle at 36#? Very intrigued to try it.

Very intriguing. I play mostly synthetic gut, but have liked ALU Power out of the few poly's I've tried. A soft poly that holds tension well sounds like something I could play. Have you tried the 17g? I generally prefer 17g as I am not a string breaker.

I have the 18g and will string it up tomorrow and play on Friday.

@VacationTennis u should try 30’s I really love it was in the high 40’s forever . But the mid to low 30’s is so spin friendly it’s ridiculous man , so fun . For me it’s the side spin I really notice on the inside out Forhand . That shot at the lower tension is pure nirvana for me . How it scoots right and bends back inward left . Uhhhhh so fun and cool to see it .

@teachingprotx Played with Ghost Wire 1.28 last night for the first time. Full bed at 42 lbs. in WUT. Fantastic! It had some of the magic I felt when first trying Alu Power, but none of the shoulder pain. Shots I thought I had over hit, dipped in at the baseline. Played well all around. If it continues to perform like that for another 4 - 6 hours, it will be my new go to string.

What tension would you normally string your racquet at that you decided to go down to 42 lbs? Racquet used? Just curious. I tried going down to low tension and I hated it with the strings that I had been using. Of course this was a few years back.

@teachingprotx have u tried volkl cyclone tour 16g? That is the softest poly IME and i’ve hit with ghostwire before albeit briefly as a cross

Wilson Ultra Tour 18/20. Recently I have been stringing at 40 lbs for full bed poly. Have been as low as 38. I liked the extra control when in the range of 48 - 50 lbs, but my shoulder didn't like how harsh the strings started to feel after a couple hours. For Ghost Wire I went up a couple pounds based on all the feedback about being soft. I'll keep experimenting...

I have used full bed volk cyclone tour 16 and 17 gauge . Full bed Ghost wire is softer .
I got more spin with cyclone by a hair. Not much though .
Head sonic pro is the only other string that comes close .
iso speed CREAM I’ve used as well .
Full bed of it .
I think full bed ghost wire is softer by a a larger margin ....
I’m also able to get great control and great comfort at lower tensions with ghost wire .
if I could I’d sell it as my main poly in the shop . As it out performs all the solinco / alu lux/ babolat and head / and Wilson poly that I do carry ..
Granted my target market is adults .. not juniors.. I’d expect juniors would enjoy firm polys more than us adults:)

Don't know if you said above, but how long is it staying like this? I currently use Cream in a gut hybrid and love both the longevity of the Cream and how well it looks after the gut. Have thought about trying Ghostwire for some time, but it's not readily available in Australia.

how long does the gut/cream setup last you in terms of hours played?

Today was the day I decided that it’s time for a restring . It’s lasted well longer than I thought and expected.,
Lil tension loss . But I think I’d be able to keep it even longer if I ratchet up the tension by 3-5 lbs .. so go figure ..
but all in all I love this stuff . A lot ..

In my limited experience the softest were...
Isospeed Cream if we take into account tension.
Polyfibre TCS if we disregard the huge tension drop which translates to a very soft stringbed.

Please note I did not have a chance to test TierOne Ghost Wire.

Some soft polys I've enjoyed full bed:
Volkl Cyclone Tour
Luxilon ALU Power Soft
Tourna Big Hitter Black 7

Soft poly crosses used with natural gut mains:
Isospeed Cream (weird pinging sound)
Grapplesnake Irukandji
Tourna Black Zone
RPM Blast Rough

Large rubber band removes it almost completely. Band fell off the other day and I actually thought the racquet was broken.

Yes, dampeners like a rubber band help. I don't worry about the sound that much frankly but just wanted to echo that it does have an odd twang.

Like I said in previous posts while Cream is soft I don't think it plays as soft as it measures out and I think there are other softer strings.

I do find it makes a nice cross to gut though.

I’m happy to finally read a review of GW full bed. I have a reel of 17g, tried the Fireboost hybrid on my frames that I not use a lot.
I thought it was too powerful on my Angell TC100, but I liked it on the C10 pro when I hit before the club closing.
I always suspected GW could be a good string but feared it would be too powerful on a full bed.
Now I want this virus out so I can try it on my main frame (TC95) !!

I play with gut / cream and you are right. Cream does have this odd twang to it!

Oh, that's great, so it's not in my head. Have you tried it in full bed? I've also only played with it in gut/poly and it had this strange sound. I use a Sampras damper and it still made this sound.
It's soft but I agree other strings that have higher stiffness ratings do feel softer.

No I haven't tried it in a full bed as I can tell by how it plays it would be too firm for me.

I like Volkl Cyclone Tour 17G in a full bed at 46-48 lbs. I have a pretty decent serve and my ground strokes are pretty flat. VCT gives me plenty of spin I need on my serves yet plays softer more like a synthetic gut for my groundstrokes. Kind of a best of both worlds.

Gut/Cream does the same. In addition, I think it is a bit nicer on ground strokes and is better for volleys at the net so I have been using the hybrid more lately. I think I lose a bit of spin on my serves especially when nearing the end of its lifespan.

I tried Volkl Cyclone Tour 16G in full bed, and it was ridiculously soft and comfortable with lots of spin. Almost as nice as a gut/poly. The big downside was the tension loss was incredible. It lost ~20% tension in just 4h of hitting, double the amount that a gut/poly or a poly with really good tension maintenance would. The other issue is that at TW Europe Volkl Cyclone Tour is pretty expensive.

VCT 17G loses tension like crazy!!!! I get a week to week and a half out of it playing 3-4 times a week. I restring my own racquets so no issue as to me the most important thing is how the string performs. It is fairly cheap in the US.
