Yeah, the real title decider will be along the M8 at Tynecastle in a few weeks. Neither side has won a home derby in over three years now (after a period where Hibs didn't win away for five years and Hearts for four) so that bodes well for the league leaders.

It was the first game back with full capacity at Easter Road yesterday and it took all of seven minutes for the guy sitting behind me to start agitatedly berating the team. We won though in the end with two beautifully taken goals so that was nice.

Yeah, I think the act of swinging his knee meant the rest of his right side (arm included) was always going to follow. It was in a natural position (down by his side) and followed through in a way that you’d expect.

I can certainly understand the interpretation though, and how they got to the decision they arrived at. It’s the rule itself that’s the problem, I think. Referee’s had meetings with each club at the start of the year and apparently they said something different to the rule they applied yesterday. Last year it was getting silly with penalties and sending offs being awarded for point blank shots and balls ricocheting up onto arms. They’ve talked a lot about changing that, but the incident yesterday suggests that’s not the case. I think there’s just general confusion.

I personally think those should be penalties, but not red cards. It’s a triple punishment that ruins the game as a spectacle, nobody comes out of it well and the player himself now misses 3 games (he’s out till October). Red card and a penalty if it’s a Suarez at the World Cup situation, absolutely, penalty and a yellow for split second ricochets and when there’s a level of ambiguity feels more reasonable, to me anyway.

Commentators were hinting that things have changed, but the referee has plenty of posters on his wall that are not Chelsea. Like he was looking to give you a red card for anything he could. But maybe that is just usual commentary stirring the pot. I believe they called him arrogant. haha

We can't pretend that officials are all stand up guys and girls. I'm not putting a conspiracy hat on, but it's life, isn't it? Look at the help United allegedly got over the years. Somebody always knows a guy who knows a guy who knows another guy who knows a girl that knows a guy. Ya know.

Meanwhile. Mr. Souness takes another shot at Paul Pogba when asked about Ronaldo.

"He's terribly courageous.. For #MUFC it is good news, There are some players in dressing room who feel they have arrived, they are the real deal and no one can tell them anything."

How long was the injury time lol...

Ugly but good to bounce back after previous draw, against a tricky opponent in recent years. And the longest unbeaten run away from home in the league is set in stone as a nice bonus for today.

Now to get ready for the most stunning welcome back on the next match.

But, Spurs are top of the league.

fair enough.
on unrelated note. so we are going to be denied seeing goals waved off due to Werner's offsides this year? Since it looks like he is not getting to much of play time recently....

I was expecting him to play yesterday actually! I thought the Liverpool high line would leave a lot of space behind, and with Lukaku drawing a lot of attention, it could have been the perfect situation for him. Fair play to Havertz though, it was another great performance from him.

I'm sure we'll be seeing those highlight misses and calamitous offsides again before long though

I think every team has that one referee who is perceived to be biased against them. Obviously it's not true, a couple of coincidences is usually enough for a fan base to declare the referee in question as a fan of a rival team, being paid by the mafia etc.. Anthony Taylor just happens to be Chelsea's version.

A quick Google reveals a few of the incidents. It happens.

Ronaldo has completed his medical. Paperwork now getting sorted but he might not be presented until after the international break.

''These international matches should be suspended and Ronaldo should be presented immediately by the Queen and he should be given a full state visit.'' :D

Amad Diallo's loan move to Feyenoord has been cancelled because Diallo suffered a thigh injury in training. He'll be out for six weeks. I'm concerned for Diallo. Touted as one of the hot young studs in the world but how does he get games now? The most likely thing is keeping the bench warm when he returns and then being loaned out in January. Plus, we signed Sancho.

United Stand pundit Red Ricky is going to be heartbroken because it is looking like Leeds will be signing Daniel James on a permanent deal. He has started 2/3 games this season and now we're getting rid of him. I'm not exactly Daniel James' biggest fan but I have to wonder. Kind of feels like booking a show on the fly.

I've been hearing for a while that Real Madrid will up their bid to 200 million Euros. This seems like a risky game by PSG if they do not accept. But then, if you print money, how much risk is there losing 200 million? Just messing. :p

*
It is now saying that Real Madrid are likely to wait until January for Mbappé. Wow, it was just one of those situations that had me thinking the player will go. But this seems like we could have another situation where the club has the power over the player. Only difference is, the other player is not out of contract next year. Providing he stays, there is still plenty of time until January so things could change. Perhaps, Real Madrid will get played at the old game Ramos used to play. And funnily enough, he is at PSG now so he is probably behind it all.

We shall see. I'm still leaning towards something happening before the end of the night.

Dan James to Leeds for 25 million. Maybe I did see this coming when I was a kid on holiday and I was told about the Luca Marchegiani transfer. Only joking, I know he was good, there was just so many good Italian goalkeepers around at the same time back then.

But anyway, best of luck to him. More chances for first team football at Leeds.

Decent profit on James not like he was ever gonna light OT on fire any time soon.

Saul heading to Chelsea, nice addition for them.

Delighted about Saul.

I love Kante, but he's played 2 out of the 4 games so far this season... and come off injured in both. He needs to be looked after and saved for the big games at this stage of his career.

That leaves Jorginho and Kovacic for the entire season, there is no back up. Saul coming in fixes that problem.

I'm also a fan of Saul in general, he's a bit different to what we already have. He has box to box skills, scores 5-10 a season (Kovacic, Jorginho and Kante don't contribute in that area), a bit more adventurous than Jorginho in his passing etc.. His form dipped a bit last season, but a couple of years ago he was one of the very best in the world in his position. If he can get back to that? He's a steal at £27 Million. If not? Send him back to Madrid at the end of the loan deal. Great business.

So we got a LB , Nuno Mendes. He's said to be one of the most promising young LB in the world , if not the most. Well that's what portuguese fans told me and i want to believe it , I hope he's great for us. It was a concerning position with Bernat's injury and Diallo's lack of quality to fit the role(To be fair , it's not his main position)

Sadly we couldn't properly reinforce the midfield and get rid of our deadwood( We have spent a lot of money this past two summers while barely selling). I just hope we're extremely lucky during this CL campaign

Kylian Mbappe stays , as expected. Real Madrid apparently made a verbal last minute offer of 200m€. I honestly don't believe they ever had any real intention of buying him this summer , They made these offers because they knew PSG was going to say "No". It was just a play by Florentino to show both their fanbase and Mbappe that he tried "everything , There's a reason they didn't make the offer 2 weeks ago , because then it was possible , PSG could have the time to plan how to use the money. On the off chance that PSG accepts , They can still brag they "bullied" PSG into selling.

Time will tell how this is gonna look. My preferable route : Kylian extends and PSG wins CL. 2nd most preferable : PSG wins CL and Kylian leaves on a free. Third : Kylian extends and we lose CL. The worst and most likely outcome : We lose Mbappe for free and crash out of the CL

I can't say I know much about the intricate details regarding the financial problems of the Spanish teams, but we keep being told that Barcelona and Real Madrid are struggling. That certainly looks to be the case for Barcelona, but Madrid offering up €200 Million for a player they can get for free next year? I can't get my head around it. Maybe you're right regarding Perez.

It's looking like they will get Haaland next year also, why didn't they make a run at him instead of Mbappe? Dortmund would have accepted an offer that was less than the one Madrid offered to PSG for Mbappe, not to mention Mbappe is free next season whilst Haaland will still cost €75 Million (or whatever the release clause that activates is). Maybe there's an obvious answer that i'm missing, but it seems a bit odd.

I thought you would have a spring in your step with the Saul signing. I'm sure you saw him linked with United during it, like most players are that never sign. haha Of course, it did say you wanted him. Our midfield remains the thinking fans crumpet. Thinking, how do they get on? :p

West Ham not willing to spend on tried and tested Lingard is a head scratcher spending the money on Vlasic instead.

I do get what you mean about the Man Utd midfield. I don't think Solskjaer is helping the situation though, did you see the analysis on MOTD on Sunday? Basically the plan was 4 attackers in a line, glued to the Wolves defence and they were asking the midfielders to play pin point balls through walls of Wolves players. It didn't look right watching it live, the midfield looked disjointed and isolated, so the analysis as to why it wasn't working made a lot of sense.

They could definitely do with more quality, but even the best players in the world wouldn't succeed playing like that.

As for Ronaldo v Lukaku. Which one are you betting on? Give me Ronaldo! I'm still not convinced about Lukaku. Looked great against Arsenal (doesn't everyone at the moment?), he was awful against Liverpool though. Trampoline first touch, ran with the ball twice and left it behind. It was a Heskey-like performance, which is what I feared. Early days though.

I've been trying to find a way to replace Lukaku with Ronaldo in my Fantasy team, but Ronaldo is too expensive unfortunately :cautious:

:-D he is what he is. I'm not buying all the talk of moving to Italy for a couple of years and all of a sudden he's 90's Ronaldo. The strange thing for me is how all the pundits seem to be buying into it and thinking Chelsea are favourites to beat City over 38 games off the back of it. It's crazy.

Anyway, here's one of the times he did it against Liverpool.. He's certainly a master of the inadvertent Cruyff turn

No, I haven't seen match of the day so far this season but I can picture what they were saying. I'm probably saying something similar in my own way. :p If I look at the team player by player, I can't have many complaints anywhere. It's just the style. But again, I guess things are always changing. Have to see the difference Ronaldo will make now.

I would never bet against Ronaldo. He is my man for this bet haha I'm sure the memesters will have some fun tonight after the penalty was saved against Ireland.

I suppose it's like most teams. Under Lampard, Chelsea were conceding 2-3 a game. With the same personnel, Tuchel has got the defence to a point where it hardly ever concedes. Christensen looked like a League One player, 8 months on and you'd be hard pushed to find many playing better in Europe. On the flip side, maybe a different manager would have Chelsea scoring all these chances and Werner would be scoring for fun.

Maybe a different manager would have United's midfield purring and Fred would be doing a great job. Who knows! Having seen the Southampton and Wolves games, i'm not sure all the talent in the world would make the United midfield a strength. Maybe it's a philosophical thing from Ole, or a system thing. It's above my pay grade, but yeah, it doesn't really look right, I know that much.

Good man! I just hope Bruno isn't in his shadow like it seems to be with the National side. Ronaldo's goals will be more vital for the team, but let's not cage Bruno.

Yup, early days so i'm not writing him off just yet, but seeing signs of the old Lukaku this early on hasn't done much to allay my initial fears.

Ronaldo is now the sole holder of the international goals record, after 89th and 96th minute goals against Ireland saw his Portugal side to a 2-1 win in the World Cup qualifiers.

Of course he avoided any punishment for the slap prior to the early penalty, and of course he scored the winner in the 96th minute with five added on to make our chances of qualifying for the World Cup so much harder.

You better do something BIG for the club over the next two seasons... :cautious:

Then the next time I look it says 2 late goals.

It reminded me of the Euros. Making his cameo appearances at the right time because I've now heard a thousand times now how this is not the same dynamic Ronaldo etc.

Deschamps should be sacked already , France is so average.
It feels like international overkill right now, even if I still enjoy the tournaments. It is going to suck when the world cup interferes with next season.

Sancho picked up a knock but he's staying with England so it doesn't look too serious.

He better deliver in these two years. Not going to settle for okayish numbers, if he is really still as great as it's claimed.

It does make me sad to hear of racist abuse during every match now. OK, I am only really focusing on England players but it's still tragic. I thought we were making progress some years ago with the kick it out campaigns. Not to say progress hasn't been made but now with those 2 words again, ''social media'' is giving everybody a voice. It feels worse than ever even if it isn't.
