Jose will be delighted after Spurs came back and beat 2 or 3 teams after being 1-0 down at half time. Goals from Kane and Alli give them 2-1 win.

Will miss the United game later because I'm going to see Star Wars.

4-1 comeback. Martial with a brace, Rashford and Greenwood on the board as well. At least the youngsters are doing alright.

Chelsea are more unpredictable than us. At least with Manchester United you know nowadays they are likely to disappoint against guppies and do well against the big teams. With Chelsea it seems to be a shot in the dark no matter who they face LOL.

good win for Man U that, at last convincingly trouncing a mid-table team after a shaky start.

A point off Spurs in 5th place with identical goal differentials, and after Chelsea's slip today, top 4 is still within striking distance.

It's at home when teams park the bus when Chelsea struggle. Not a bad problem to have though, it's something that has to be learnt and takes time.

Of all the potential problems I expected coming into the season, this is a pretty nice one to have looking at the big picture.

I'd love to get Ziyech in January, I think he's got 20+ assists this season and when we played them in the Champions League, every cross looked like being a goal. That's what we're missing, and i'd think he'd make a great upgrade for Pedro (relatively cheap too, by todays standards).

I've not seen us linked with him though, which is a shame.

Looked good from United. Martial acting like Kante without the ball. I couldn't believe it. Nice to see one of the most 'useless players off the ball' (I didn't say that) getting stuck in. Not just Scholes style tackles either. Winning the ball. ''When he is at his best he is one hell of a player.'' Yes, consistency again is the word of the day.

Greenwood's finish was :giggle:

Wow. Ederson sent off in the 12 minute. City managed to go 2-0 up and then let it slip. 2 goals in the last 10 minutes giving Wolves 3-2 win. City's players and Pep looking heartbroken.

Wouldn't be surprised if James is back in tomorrow. Was thinking he needed a rest and it doesn't make much sense to drop any of the front 3 after their performances against Newcastle. Think it is time for Pogba to start. I'd say I would be surprised if United win.

Unfortunately I didn't watch. I'll catch the highlights on Midlands Today in the morning I guess.

Halfway and they’ve already lost more than last season and are within one setback of matching the total from the last two seasons.

Fred is looking a bit Brazilian again. Some sexy passes. United leading 1-0 at half time. Martial with the goal. Assist from Pereira was money.

5th going into 2020 if Liverpool and City win their games tomorrow, which is pretty likely. Might even be one point below top 4 but Arsenal have to beat Chelsea. Not counting on that.

At least it's nice seeing the squad being filled with younger players, as well as Rashford scoring on a regular basis now. He could contend for the golden boot if Vardy goes on a drought.

VAR is a joke

Yeah, the game has lost it's way.

The offside rule essentially stops goal hanging, which is a good thing. A toe nail maybe being slightly ahead of the last man 3 phases before a goal is scored? That's just ridiculous. Not to mention the time it takes, the entire stadium not knowing what's going on, having to celebrate 3 minutes after a goal is scored whilst it's being checked etc.. It's not working and it never will.

In theory it’s fantastic but in practice it’s shambolic and unnatural. These toe nail / arm pit ‘offsides’ have been called like 3-4 times already this weekend. Judging goals by pixels now. Slippery slope.

It's been really annoying at times. I lost the urge to celebrate a goal these days when attending at Camp Nou because VAR could check anything out. Klopp said something along those lines himself.

I am even ok with longer examination of potential penalties and red cards because it's tougher to judge those, but offsides... If it's a razor thin margin like in the cases we have seen recently, stick with the original call. I know it doesn't sound right being fine with having irregular goals stand or regular goals ruled out, but the match goes through so many annoying delays/time wasting as it is. This takes it to a whole new level of frustrating...

So, Liverpool with 55 out of 57 points in the first half of the season. Incredible achievement. Identical to what Barcelona did in 2012-13, and coincidentally our only draw was against our biggest rivals too. Unfortunately we slowed down in the second half, missing out on Invincible season after losing at Anoeta and Bernabeu, but still got to the century mark, tying the best points tally in La Liga history.

Liverpool will probably do better than that. What impresses me most is how they have reacted to last season's dramatic race they lost, by improving even further. And I can only imagine the upcoming euphoria at Anfield. 30 years of wait, think about that. Actually doesn't feel that long ago when they won their 18th title with Rush and Barnes in attack, and Kenny Dalglish, being in his last year as the player-manager, making an appearance on Liverpool's final home game of the 1989-90 season. But it must feel like a lifetime for the supporters.

Never liked them. Personally I have enjoyed Manchester United's dominance in England during the previous couple of decades, but this will be a special moment, and I will be happy for them finally living it. Mostly for Klopp, who has done a fantastic job.

VAR is here to say, but something does need to change regarding offside. I think the rule itself might need to be changed, maybe any part of the attacker being level with the defender being ok would do it. We're seeing goals ruled out for offside when most of the attacker is actually further from goal than the defender! The top of a shoulder or the tip of a boot 3 phases before the goal is scored shouldn't be ruled out, it's just ruining the game.

I agree on Liverpool, never been a fan of them (even before the fierce rivalry with Chelsea). I'll be pleased for them though, they're a fantastic team, fun to watch and thoroughly deserve the title. Wolves played well again today, i'm slightly biased, but they're great fun to watch and fully deserve all the good things happening to them at the moment.

It's the Offside rule not VAR. I liked the old daylight between players rule. Nice and simple and much less of these super marginal calls, not using VAR because it's close is just silly I think. It's the offside rule not VAR can't really say that enough that's what we might need to look at.

I think scrap clear and obvious, if it's wrong it's wrong. Clear and obvious means that a good dive doesn't get overruled if it wins a penalty as we have seen this season, rewarding people being good at diving seems weird to me.

Also Liverpool top the league regardless I think that is an issue for some people who hate Liverpool and want to avoid giving them credit whenever possible. but those guys won't be happy for a while because we are absolutely unreal and we haven't even played that well for most of the season.

Anyway happy Christmas and a hearty happy year to you all. Have a good one.

I would have sympathy back when he was getting only £10 donation a week. Now he gets a £100 a minute on subscriptions.

My response is really a similar line from football manager. It always seems to be me that gets the disallowed VAR. Opponents never (rarely) get it. Good job my team is so good now so it doesn't really matter.

I don’t really mind if VAR stays maybe just tweak it a bit. I wish it didn’t cause such a delay but I guess it’s justified more times than not

Yeah, that Klopp quote about not even being able to celebrate a goal. :/ Obviously, he is being a bit funny but still. Feels like it is still in development.

On that Gary Neville soccer box they were showing tackles from not even 10 years ago that you didn't even get booked for. He was talking to Berbatov about it. ''you wouldn't get away with that these days.'' I guess that is a good part of it, being able to go back and check if there was a foul etc.

Heard that United refused to pay the agent and father (meh) extortion fees to go along with the cheapish transfer fee for Erling Haaland. Article says United should be applauded.

I wasn't exactly getting that hyped about Haaland, not like some of the other rumours that never move beyond rumours. He might be fantastic but I would argue that a striker isn't our top priority. Now that Rashford is becoming kind of prolific, then we have Greenwood and Martial. Sure, not exactly all number 9's but they are forwards. Ole is still giving the line about future plans and Haaland would have fit that bill. Just have to wait and see. The midfield was pointed out as the weak point at the start of the season. That hasn't changed.

King Eric, this is why we love you.

Cantona: "Watching United play now, it's a bit like making love as an old man. You try as hard as you can, but at the end of the day, everyone is a bit disappointed."

When I say things, sorry, about making love as an old man, I'm not speaking about me. It was just a metaphor." :D:D

Eriksen was mentioned occasionally. He will be free in the summer. But with Real Madrid wanting the player too, I don't see us getting him.

I see we are now linked with Gedson Fernandes. Looks like Portugal are loaded with top centre midfielders. I keep thinking back to Renato Sanches. He looked like a sure thing a couple of years ago.

I really don't know much about Fernandes other than what I read today A 20-year old that has fallen out of favour at Benfica. Big minimum release clause that they realize they won't get for an out of favour player. haha Would that ever stop United? :p It says United are trying to arrange a loan deal with the option to buy.

Interested to hear what you all think. The reason I bring it up now is because Mystic Merson was doing his thing and talking about how Liverpool will get to the record. Can Liverpool beat Arsenal's unbeaten record?

I'm going to say no.

The same talk started here a couple of seasons back around January. We looked destined to become the first Spanish invincibles (not counting the ancient ones from Madrid and Bilbao when there were barely 20 games in a season). Several late escapes, most notably the one at Sevilla when we were down 2-0 until the 88th minute or so but got a draw. Even survived against Real Madrid while having ten men for the entire second half. Then the last away game, penultimate game of the season, Leo was rested (for a friendly in South Africa), and we lost to Levante. They led 5-1, then Barca got three quick goals and even had like 20 minutes left to get a draw, but failed. Big regret, stained the season with that and the collapse against Roma. Thought it couldn't be possible to ruin a potentially wonderful season worse than that in a short period of time. Then the Anfield fiasco and a Copa final loss to Valencia happened the season after already. :cautious:

Regarding Liverpool, not sure. Now they can afford slipping up more than once without putting the title in danger, so maybe it will depend on how they progress in the Champions League. Then again they did so well there while simultaneously being neck and neck with City until the final day of last season. At this point I might as well say if they want to, they will do it. Everything is clicking. I just hope we won't be seeing them winning in Europe for a second season in a row (unless they end up facing Real or Juve in the final). What an escape they had in 2019.

Big thanks to Wolves. They are on fire in real life and game world. (yeah, 16th in the league is really on fire) Liverpool is out of control in this game, in terms of the champions league. They have won it four years in a row! Including a win over me. Salah has won plenty of awards. Klopp is still in charge. Most other teams have gone through manager changes. That damn champions league record. But I got them this season in the semi, won 3-0 at home, lost 2-0 away. Nervy stuff. It was 0-0 in leg 2, they have a player sent off and then score 2 quickly. They have still not won the premier league. This should have been their year. I slipped up more than a few times and went on a four game run without a win.. United vs Chelsea in the champions league final once more. Forest away in the last league game. Can just see them sneaking a 1-0 lol. This doesn't happen to my United though. :p Carry on.

I also agree. There's a reason why it's so rare and when the Champions League comes back the goal has to be to try and win both. Would be lovely to have an invincible season but I don't expect it and am not especially bothered by it at this point. Going for a League and Champions League double would be fine for me, I'm not greedy.

Unbeaten season and FA Cup would be a nice bonus but the priority is getting the monkey of the back, and if there is still breathing room like now, all out for the League and Champions League double. Suspect that's what Klopp will do too, expect he will jib off the FA Cup, it may come as soon as the 3rd round with Everton getting their first win at Anfield in aeons, depends how much he thinks people need a rest after all these matches. Ancelotti has a good record against Liverpool too.
