I will say this, there’s a reason all your players cost the money they did. And this is what I mean when I ask you all to “believe me” about the scope of the Spurs project never touching the breadth of the United or Chelsea projects.

We’ve hired a pub manager from a crap league and as far as I can tell his general mantra is to commit more and more men forward in increasingly compromising and kamikaze fashion just to cross it across the 6 yard box for tap ins with sheer overload and speed. That’s always worked for him, mitigate the lack of technical talent by committing more men, simple enough, and sod the defense, the other teams aren’t good enough to punish us.

And I’ve seen the J League and the SPL and he’s right, they aren’t good enough. Chalobah and Badiashile are 6’4”, strong, pacey athletes who cover a lot of ground as well as aerially. Caicedo is a monstrous player who is building a nice little partnership with the £50m Cucurella inverting. Ukraine Bolt and Nico Jackson who cost around £140m combined are fast and physical release valves, and Palmer and Gallagher, England players, they know how to be everywhere at once.

And they punish you for committing men forward, and they bully you in the air, and they win.

Caicedo was monstrous tonight tbf. Poch has always known how to set up against a high press team and defend their best actions. And we don’t have a manager or the forward talent to get around that.

You can see the beginnings of a top team in there somewhere with Chels. Nothing is there with Spurs.

Completely agree, it's a very fair assessment. I can't really comment too much on Spurs, but the Chelsea take is accurate. A lot has been made about the signings.. they're a waste of money, not good enough, too young etc.. I have never believed any of that. The players are incredible talents, and the vast majority are more than ready. I believe a better manager would've consistently got a lot more out of them, their development would've been more consistent this season and we would be higher up the table.

As you pointed out, Cucurella has inverted the last game and a half. He was incredible tonight, and in the second half v Villa. They couldn't get out of their own penalty box, let alone half. Why has it taken Poch 34 games to do that? We've had Enzo and Caicedo totally over ran all season when a simple tweak like that can improve the entire team, make us more solid, put Caicedo in a position to be able to do what he does best etc.. I know Enzo is out injured after being ran into the ground, but the thought of Caicedo and Enzo getting some support and being able to actually showcase their abilities... and we've gone all season without seeing that? It's criminal.

I genuinely think it could've been the best midfield in the Premier League this season. Arsenal have Rice and Jorginho/Partey. Man City only really have Rodri.. a bit of Kovacic/Nunes/Akanji every now and then. But Caicedo and Enzo in a system that allows them to flourish? I think it could've been as good as it gets.

Instead we've got pundits saying Caicedo is the flop signing of the season and "what does Enzo even do? He's too slow". For the midfield to have been a liability with that much talent is shameful imo.

Way to go Leverkusen.

''Roma had just two shots on target with striker Romelu Lukaku cutting an isolated figure before being replaced after 80 minutes.''

Still a way to go, but I've been playing top spin and they give you trophies for completing certain levels or whatever. They tell you how common they are as well. You love to see those 0.1% or whatever. I mean, Celtic did it, but they didn''t do it this way, they won their three domestic titles, while Arsenal went unbeaten in the league. Juventus did something.

Perugia 78/79 always fascinating.

''Perugia 1978/79

You would think an undefeated season more or less guarantees the league title, but not always. Perugia's incredible 1978/79 season in Serie A has entered legend. The Umbrian outfit became the first team since Italy's top flight became a round-robin tournament to play the entire 30-game season without losing. The catch was they drew 19 of those to miss out on the title by three points (this was the two-points-for-a-win era), finishing second behind an AC Milan side that lost three times en route to glory.''

No mention of McTominay, Bruno and Casemiro as the best midfield. That breaks my heart.

OK, @Kralingen , I do believe we have a greater project. Once again, for as long as I've been alive, United have been the superior project. That hasn't changed during the last decade, what changed is we were good and now we're crap, peak levels of rubbish on the more than the odd occasion.

I don't think project matters much. Yeah, of course it does to the gossipers in the tower earning those sweet salaries. We have the greater project but we're rubbish. Great. Long may that continue. lol

Been reading the reports about us trying to build a super team. :D Feels like we could have our Bron and AD, but unfortunately, that's it. We're pretty much the LA Lakers. I think of it as a joke but something so similar as well.

The ever reliable Man Utd update. Erik ten Hag interviewed by Gary Neville. :unsure:As usual, Ten Hag quick to praise things like Mainoo and Garnacho coming through. It's just the way he says it, like he is the first manager to bring a couple of young players through to be successful first team players.

Some Manchester United staff are fuming after the club treated the players' WAGs to a swanky meal at a top restaurant - 24 hours after scrapping FA Cup final perks for the rank and file.

And some other things. Ten Hag did get a little high five from me because of his honesty about not getting rid of all our players. He's like, wtf, there is no way this can happen. lol

Can just imagine the Peaky Blinders reaction.

''Crystal Palace will destroy us.''
''They're sh1t.''
''Not Olise''
''Olise is one player, John. And he might not even play.''
''They have Eze, too.''
''And we have the people's champion, Harry Maguire. And before you rudely interrupt me again, John. Delusional or not, I still lead this family.''

A bit of positivity. I do appreciate the 16 points combined for Palmer and Jackson. The big surprise is Palmer not getting all 16, we had 8 each here.

All the “verve and vivacity” has been sucked out of the club and given to Rory it appears. Worst part is he’s spot on. My post on the last page is the best I’ll do at summing it up. But Ange is a gimmick manager and a politician. Playing only one way and refusing to see the flaws in his approach. Rory is spot on. Adaptability is the #1 attribute needed to survive in this league.

Mark Clattenburg's new role goes on the epic fails list. Will the role ever be used again? Let us find out.

''The former Premier League referee was only appointed to the first-of-its-kind role in February but has been involved in some controversy, including Forest accusing Stuart Attwell, the VAR for their acrimonious 2-0 defeat at Goodison Park, of being a Luton fan after a series of appeals for penalties by the away side were turned down.''

Gary Neville, once again, responsible for a man losing his job.

Clattenburg feels he has been unfairly targeted by "certain participants and pundits.''

''I performed my services under the consultancy agreement in good faith, to the best of my abilities and in the hope of using my extensive experience as a match official to help NFFC understand how decisions in relation to key match incidents are made amid the workings of VAR.''

Crazy rumours that Bayern, with their struggles to find a new manager for next season, want to tempt Roger Schmidt away from Benfica. He has a very expensive release clause, and many Benfica fans dislike him, want him gone and would be celebrating if Bayern paid them (very hefty) compensation to take him off their hands.

I remember when Newcastle paid us compensation to prize Souness away from us in 2004, when he was close to getting sacked. We couldn't believe our luck.

I was wondering who they would go after when the Rangnick thing collapsed.

De Zerbi has been linked with them for ages, but no club seems to want to touch him with a 10 foot barge pole at the moment. From flavour of the month and next top manager, to no club (not even Brighton, I don’t think) wanting him? Crazy.

What did Kane do to deserve negative anti-football managers for his entire career? Seriously?

Ange is a funny one. I do like it when he’s mad, but tries so hard to keep his nice guy persona :-D

It’s like you see when people “slide into the DM’s” and are all “I’m a nice guy, hey beautiful”.. then if the girl doesn’t reply they unleash a torrent of abuse. Feels like Ange.

Who exactly was negative anti-football during Kane’s career? Maybe Mourinho but Kane reached a cup final with him and was bagging at a very high rate with Son.

Conte and Tuchel, more recently. And especially Gareth Southgate.

Poch not so much but those days were long ago

Conte didn’t really have a team, he complained in every press conference about the performances and the owners.

I obviously love trolling him but Kane not winning anything with Bayern isn’t really down to him or Tuchel performing poorly. Bayern are changing generations, their dominance was being tested the last few years and this year it finally crumbled. It wasnt Nagelsmann’s fault last year, it’s not Tuchel’s this year, or Kane’s. All 3 of them are unlucky AF for joining Bayern at a time when their dominance was naturally running its course.

Poor decision by Bayern to buy Kane? Sure. They wanted to keep the window open and if they win the CL it’ll look like a steal. There’s actually a petition by Bayern fans to keep Tuchel. They realize it’s not really his fault the team is deteriorating.

Southgate is one of the worst coaches in world football. He got sacked by Middlesbrough after relegating them to the Championship. He’s only in the job cuz England got embarrassed by Iceland in the Euro’s and the FA couldn’t justify keeping the owl in charge any longer, so they just put in Southgate since he was coaching the U21’s.

Fabresque

A more logical destination for Kane to go to would’ve been PSG. They just dumped Neymar, on the verge of dumping Mbappe, and the owners were probably hungry to bring in another superstar attacker. Plus, their window isn’t closing anytime soon: none of Lille, Monaco, or Marseille look like they have a generation that could sneak a Ligue 1. There were signs for years Bayern was slowing down and this year it finally happened.

I heard someone discussing Spurs transfer plans this summer, what’s Levy going to do and all that.

What’s it got to do with him?

The real owner of Spurs is the only opinion that matters.

4 goals in 2 games against Spuds.

Jackson is to Tottenham what Drogba was to Arsenal.

It’s very sad to see what‘s happening at Vitesse Arnhem:

For a decent period it seemed like the were generally the best team in the Netherlands outside the big 3, and regularly qualified for the UEFA Cup. Their stadium which opened in the 90s ahead of the wonderful Euro 2000, with its retractable pitch (as well as its retractable roof), was pretty ground-breaking at the time.

And I remember the euphoria when they finally won a major trophy and lifted KNVB Cup in 2017.

Hopefully they can retain their license just to play in the professional leagues. I moan about Blackburn regularly, and by 14:30 today we could officially be relegated to the third tier, but our problems are absolutely minor in comparison to that.

A relief to beat Leicester today and avoid relegation.

However this is not an achievement at all, and it would be embarrassing to celebrate this. We should have secured a safe and steady mid-table finish, and the fact that we were not mathematically safe going into the final day of the season, was a pathetic failure.

I felt sorry for Sammie Szmodics. He was the top goal-scorer in the division with 27 league goals and 33 in all competitions, in a terrible team. He’ll be leaving this summer and I wish him well.

The fact that we’ve continually had among the best goal-scorers in the Championship over the years, from Rhodes to Gestede to Armstrong to Brereton Díaz to Szmodics, but have never once finished in the top 6 and qualified for the playoffs, has been frustrating.

On a petty note, I’ve always had an irrational dislike of Birmingham City, since the days when we had some bad blooded transfer dealings with them in the mid 00s, so I’m happy to see them getting relegated. To be fair given their catchment area, they do have more potential than most clubs if they get things right, but they’ve always struck me as having delusions of grandeur.

On the flipside I’ve always had a soft spot for Sheffield Wednesday, so I was happy they also survived alongside us.

And a stunning achievement by Ipswich to secure back to back promotions. It will be great to see them back in the Premier League after more than 20 years. Like Leverkusen, they scored so many decisive injury time goals this season. I’ve been speaking to plenty of unhappy Leeds fans during the past weeks as their form nosedived. We helped ruin their automatic promotion bid, by beating them at Elland Road a few weeks ago.

I genuinely don’t think I’ve ever met a Birmingham City fan, and I’m from Birmingham. All the other local clubs have plenty of fans, Villa and Wolves are the big ones, but there are lots of WBA, Walsall etc.. strange.

But yes, really pleased for Ipswich. I’m a little concerned about back to back promotions and riding a wave of late winners though. Feels like it could be a recipe for disaster in the Premier League. They’re going to have to keep all the plates spinning to have any hope, which seems unlikely. That’s a next season problem though.

Long shot but i hope Dortmund win the CL for Reus.

Ol Roy was at the snooker yesterday, might have been today as well. As usual, they start talking about him, and they give a wee ''just do your job, pot the ball'' pun.

Then they asked Neil Robertson if he has ever been intimidated by a fan and so on.

Damn, hammerings all over the place today. Wilson leading the world snooker final 7-0 and Chelsea rockin and rollin with the 5-0.

What an incredible performance. That’s 3 clean sheets since it’s seemed to click, 9 goals scored.

Felt like the first Chelsea game in 2.5 years where all the family were talking and laughing and having a good time whilst watching. It’s been awhile.

Oh and Jackson is legit, always has been. The slander he’s had this year is so superficial. He’s going to be a top top player.

Dr. Tottenham strikes again I see. The best remedy of all maladies to your football club. On a losing streak? Play Tottenham. Infighting within the squad? Play Tottenham. Manager on the hot seat? Play Tottenham.

Chelsea another happy customer.

And would you look at that, Liverpool come in on an absolutely awful run of form with Klopp and Salah fighting at the touchline. Hmm… let’s see what the Good Doctor has in store for them today.

I think things will start to click for Chelsea next season.

After a good start to the 2021/2022 season then injuries set in and they haven't been the same since.

I’ve been thinking about that.

I remember the end of 3 seasons ago. Arsenal had been nowhere all year, had a decent run at the end, then crapped the bed against Newcastle (pre Saudi money) to miss out on the European spot they were looking for.

I don’t think anyone would’ve predicted them to challenge for the title from there on out, but they did look to have figured things out.

Not saying the same will happen with Chelsea (definitely don’t see them contending for the title next year), but it does feel like there are some similarities.

Great defending there Vicario. (y) Could have gone horribly wrong.

Leverkusen leading at half-time, 2-1 vs Frankfurt. Leverkusen been in the lead twice, so no miracle comeback to look forward to today. Unless.

I'm annoyed because Jackson was on the bench for Prat FC today. Cher gets replaced, but it has to be a defender to replace him due to not being allowed only 2 defenders. Unless Hojlund misses out tomorrow. I'd be expecting him to play.

Yeah, 2 of the final 3 teams got pounded today. West Ham and Spurs. Then there is Tony Khan's Fulham, perhaps he can pull off his greatest win yet, neck brace included, and he becomes a cult hero for a lot of football fans by preventing City winning the league.

But as I say every now and again. I would not expect it.
