We all know about Bi-phase & NRG..but what else is there?

I’m looking for the lesser known quality Multifilament, the ”off the beaten track” quality string, which
has qualities of these two great stings..and don’t give me NXT, or Sensation…I want the OFF-OFF Broadway string, the
one heard about but forgot to write down…Thanks..lol..and you have used that string well with an equally lesser known co-poly..I’m all ears

if you are going to hybrid any multi with polys don't use shaped or rough polys. Hot knife + Warm Butter

hot knives pair better with syn gut
Fair enough - so give me your top 3 Synthetic guts?..I own my own stringing machine, and play about 5 hours a week, so the cost is not a huge issue

nothing special about sun gut. I use syn gut for clients with shaped or rough poly mains.

Babolat
Kirschbaum
Prince
Pro's Pro in 1:35mm for 4.5C rated guys who like shaped or rough poly mains.

For the money, and not using with rough or shaped polys, Tecnfibre RPX in packs or HDMX in a reel beats NXT Control for price and I doubt you or 99.9% of the folks on this forum could tell the difference in a blind playtest of RPX or HDX TOUR (replaced by HDMX)

blind playtest = removes preconceived bias by a player. It is the only way I deal with new clients. They don't get charged until they pick a string setup they like. No labor.. no string charges. Natural Gut is the only string excluded in my blind playtest process.

That is a great call!

I have a reel of Isospeed Control+Arm Protection and I suggest it to my friends when they ask for a restring and say they have had arm issues and I receive positive feedback every time. The stuff is pretty cheap too compared to the strings mentioned above.

I have a Gravity MP that I keep strung with multi. I've found nothing I like better than Solinco X-natural diamond rough in a hybrid with velocity. Both in 1.30 (1.25 doesn't last long enough). In the 16x 20 it plays nicely until the coating on the Velocity wears out and the strings stick out of place. It normally breaks pretty soon after. I tried it in the Gravity Pro though and it lacked control and had too much pop.

There are several: 1) Laserfiber 1200 (my favorite), 2) Alpha Sphere (a very good one that may take a few hits to get used to. 3) Prince Premier (Power or Touch, either one), Yonex 850, Micronite,

thanks all
I hear so much about:
Cannon-Weiss, Isospeed, Kirschbaum, and Tier One...but am not sure how important it is to deviate away from the 4-6 more known companies to
experiment them. Can Technifibre/Gamma/ Head/ Wilson.....produce strings which should meet my 4.0-4.5 ability without having to go to the more obscure brands??

OGSM Natural Color
OGSM White Color (if you need slightly stiffer)

Reels are $44 and packs $4. Buy 1 each and try them. If you don't hit the ball as hard as most people on this forum then it will work great for you.

I've tried many (but not all) Synguts and even though many people say "Syngut is Syngut" [as though they are interchangeable], for me OGSM has consistently proven itself better for my game since it's tension retention is better than anything else in both full bed and crosses

Quasi-gut (and the Armored) earned all those USRSA badges when they were reviewed => under the radar now they have been out several years.

also I have been wanting to test Weisscannon Explosiv! for this role but haven't found a chance to try it in anything yet.

+1 Vanquish, as I have a reel of the 16 ga.

How is Volkl Power Fiber Pro?
The TW review made me curious.
I've been having increasing arm issues as I age.
Tried the low tension poly (MSV Focus Hex and then Ultracable) in a 63RA frame, but problem persists.
Am taking some time off, but played with a few demos recently that had NXT and Rexis Speed.
I liked it. Haven't played with multi since my Gamma TNT days in the late 90s.
I used to break string a lot back then. Never been a string breaker since using polys.
Been a soft copoly guy for about 8-10 yrs now.
Any other suggestions for me to try?
Thx.

Gamma professional 17 is my top choice for multi.
Tourna Big Hitter Black for co-poly.

Durability of professional is an added bonus in addition to the primary feel, comfort and power.
Big hitter is cheap for a great coply.

Have you tried Cyclone Tour? Very soft for a poly.

I haven't tried Power Fiber Pro but if it's the same as Power Fiber II, TW has it rated as the 5th most powerful string on the string database (99.6% energy return). It must be quite soft and lively.

hot knives pair better with syn gut

So when pairing a multi, you should then opt for a round poly? F.inst. pairing Multifeel with Ice Code, or Velocity MLT with Lynx?
What are the pros of a multi/poly vs a syntgut/poly hybrid?
