When will Grigor Dimitrov hit his peak?

What year/date?

Lousy poll. His "peak" (such as it was) was taking Djoker to five sets in the 2014 Wimbledon. I seriously doubt he'll ever reach a slam semi again.

Dimitrov is playing some scary stuff at the 2016 Istanbul Open. I think he is a dark horse for the French Open.

For a guy that hasn't been past the 3rd Round at RG, he is not exactly a dark horse.
Not like he has big weapons like Stan Wawrinka or all round game of Djokodal.

Im hoping for @Russeljones prophecies to come true, 18 slams in 5 years:D. As a huuuge Federer-fan, nothing would be better than a young one handed backhander to take over the throne:D

Dimitrov had a great win today. He's into the Istanbul final and is getting better with every match. I sense a resurgence. FO dark horse?

When will Dimitrov hit his peak? Seeing that Federer hit his peak at 34, i'm guessing the same age for Dimitrov.

Very, very, very few players ascend and pass other great players who are still in their primes. When they do, you can feel it happening. There's a palpable feel that there's not so much a changing of the guard (as happens every generation) as an outright revolution. The latter has happened only a handful of times in the Open Era.

Revolution happened with Borg. It happened with McEnroe. It happened with Sampras. It happened with Federer.

Usually, you get the Lendl, Djokovic, Murray, Agassi, etc. model, where they're good players who don't really ascend to the pinnacle until the greats who came before them begin to age and falter.

Dimitrov obviously has no place in that first discussion. There's nothing revolutionary about Dimitrov.

He'll ascend to whatever level he's going to achieve after his olders and betters move on and/or decline. Which they haven't so much as of yet, but given their ages, should be in the next year or so.

can one ever really be considered a good player of their own right if they peaked only when their older rivals whom they couldn't defeat had to retire due to age?

what does it say about grigor that he has to wait for murray/djoko to get old in order to actually win stuff...
