Why do people think Carlitos will beat Nole at RG?

Our evidence that he can is 1 match in Madrid which was super, super tight (5-7 final TB). Djokovic was still relatively fresh into his clay comeback - he will have much better rhythm and level when RG comes around - and his level in slams been always miles above his M1000 levels without fail for the last 3-4 years. (except his gassed out US Open last year). This feels like hopium from the Fedal fanbases to say Carlitos is taking 3 sets off him... if there are more reasons to think he will, please supply them though

It's just their emotions and hopes speaking. Alcaraz has won 58.5% of games on clay this season. Last season Djokovic won 61.8% of games on clay. A meaningful gap, so Carlos will have to level up considerably to win if Djokovic is at his RG 2021 level.

I also think he would go little undercooked in RG. Might make a big difference since Madrid plays the least similar to Chatrier. A showing at Rome, even if not a deep run, would have helped him much better.

He won Barcelona under similar conditions to RG (a bit slower with the poor weather), although he didn't face any big 3 ogres there.

djoker still has not yet returned to his peak. that said, if carlos cannot win in 3 or 4 sets, djoker's experience and endurance will win him another fo against anyone, including rafa

How exactly though?
Alcaraz is basically a younger version of Nadal in so many ways. So butthurt Nadal fans have found an outlet which is understandable. Like the husband cheating on his wife with the younger secretary which remind me of his younger wife

True enough. However: 1) There's good reason to doubt that Djokovic will be at his RG 2021 level, 2) Given the age difference, some might think that Alcaraz could outlast Djokovic and so win despite not being quite at his level, perhaps with a come from behind to win in five. Sure, Djokovic has been very fit for a long time now and came from behind himself against both Nadal and Tsitsipas last year, but in 2022 his stamina appears questionable.

It's certainly possible. Alcaraz will have his chances to take sets I think, even if Djokovic is at his 2021 level. If Alcaraz is half as special as some people here claim, perhaps he will seize the moment and win. But I definitely wouldn't bet on it.

No, nor would I. But I think he's got a good chance of a run to the semis, which would still be a creditable result. He's not responsible for those who think he's got to be the next all-time great, let alone those who think he's going to be an unbeatable goat and win 25 slams in a row. Given his career to date and his age, a first slam semi would be a fine result.

Agreed, he might be better on HC anyway

In best of 5, the odds are on Djokos side on every surface. It will be a hell of a match but the experience will give Djoko a huge advantage. And dont forget, he is almot double Carlos age but he won’t get tired

Because at this moment in time he is a better more complete player with more confidence and much fitter. Best of 5 sets will suit him in that match up.
If Djokovic can't beat him in Madrid he ain't beating him on Chatrier.

Djokovic often gets tired after 2 hours. It's his biggest weakness now.

One thing i know is if he gets opening he will not lie down like Musetti or Tsitispas did in last 3 sets. He's a different breed.

Nadal completely owns that lost gen player. Head to head is 14-1.

Ate that backhand up lol

Djokovic would be the favorite but it would be nice if someone took him down before he could reach him. He’s a legit threat.

The inertia says Carlito should win Djokovic in RG, but I made a prediction and it will be the opposite, Djokovic wins the final against Carlito
but Carlito is the next winner in WB and Us open (Djokovic in the final in USA)

Djokovic will win FO, but it's completely valid to believe that Alcatraz might defeat him.

The title thread is a bit strange. "Why do people think he can defeat Djokovic?"

Well, he's won two of the last three M1000s that he played, beat Djokovic in their only match, has the most titles this season, is a clutch player, is in great form, and is 2nd in the Race Rankings.

So why wouldn't he beat Djokovic?

Still, I have my doubts that match will even happen..

You mean the next one AFTER Djokovic is done winning it 10 times?

Alcaraz will NOT win a set vs Novak at RG.
Novak is a DIFFERENT BEAST in slams. And even at BO3 where Novak didn't care and was out of form, Alcatraz BARELY won.

Djokovic won't win more grand slams after Roland Garros 2022 , Nadal the same .
Actually the final between djokovic and the GOAT Carlito according to astrology will decide in five set

Musetti and Tsitispas can win 2 sets but Alcaraz can't take one set off Novak  i agree Novak is a huge favourite for RG but Alcaraz won't be easy for anyone in the draw and one thing that separates him from the rest is he's mentally tough and won't lie down.

If they meet in QF Alcaraz will be the favorite, imo. In SF and F it will be the opposite.

I have been watching tennis for long and can tell you Alcaraz has that winning instinct of a champion. His Madrid match against Djokovic made me a believer. He had so many bps in the third set but he didn't break mentally after failing to convert them and held his serve and kept waiting for the opportunity , this is something Nadal would do in his younger days. If he was your regular player he would have been broken in third set and lost the match after failing to covert many bps.
