Would Federer have won Wimbledon 2017 if Djokovic hadn't got an injury?

Nope, Djokovic was in fine form entering '18 Wimbledon! Andy Murray wasn't playing because of hip injury, and was a commentator for BBC. After the quarterfinals, people asked him who he would pick to win the whole thing. Everyone expected him to say either Federer or Nadal. Instead, he said Djokovic really impressed him. I can still remember reading Murray's comment in the Daily Mail, because it also surprised me.

Nole was 6-6 in 2018 he was in horrible form but he saw Nads in Wimby Semi 2018 and he got up for that match even though his form was horrible, he may get up for the Fed match if he gets passed Birdman in 17.

Slight difference, Novak was on the up at that point after Rome and Queens. 2017 he was trending down.

Djokovic was actually playing well in Wimbledon 2017, and probably the best he played all year besides the Doha final, until the injury took him out. Federer, on the hand, totally deserved Wimbledon 2017 and played a great tournament from beginning to end.

I think he still would have. Remember, Novak wasn’t very good throughout 2017 (though I remember him playing above average for the season at Wimbledon). Level-wise, he was nowhere near Fed at that tournament. The only chance would be if he put in a 2018-like performance which I don’t think he was capable of doing during that time.

The same thing happened when Nadal was about to go ahead by equaling Federer's slam count and being so far ahead in H2H.

Federer's fanatics make this place very toxic when their hero's records are beaten -as they so often are these days.
The atmosphere was actually pretty nice right after Nadal hit 20 Slams, most likely because most Fed fans were rooting against Djokovic in the final.

Only started getting toxic when a few Nadal trolls from back in 2013/2014 resurfaced in addition to new trolls like USO and that now-banned Fedal 2020 joining the forum.

I will ask the opposite question - would Djokovic have won Wimbledon 2018 had Fed converted his MP against Anderson in the third set?

Novak in 2018 Wimbledon, up until the final, faced zero servebots, zero grasscourters, and Nadal under roof-closed condition (and by the end of the 3rd set he was already heavily gassed and only saved by daybreak - which was only a thing thanks to Isner/Anderson). The 2018 Wimbledon SF up until the daybreak was essentially the 2021 RG SF but with Nadal winning 3rd set tiebreak.
This is a more reasonable question. Novak was in much better form in 2018 than 2017. 2017 he had zero chance, but in 2018 Federer was not as good so I think Novak would have beaten him.

Federer has lost 3 finals against Djokovic and when Federer won in 2017, he didn't have to play Djokovic due to him having to retire with an injury in his match against Berdych.

Federer was in fine form that year and didnt drop a set all tournament. Djokovic was also in a transitional period at the time still trying to find his best form and struggling with injuries.

So I wonder would Federer have beat Djokovic that year if he had to play him?
He could have gave djokovic a straight set beatdown. We saw how 2019 outplayed djokovic for most part of the Final...so is it even a question that what 2017 Fed could do with 2017 novak

He did lose to Chung partly because of injury. He played through pain the whole tournament and had to have surgery a few weeks later.
Which surgery....how can he recover from a surgery in 1 month time and play in IW and Miami. Chung beat him fair and square...just look at the highlights....djokovic was sliding and stretching at his usual flexibility. If he was injured than he would have taken some performance enhancing drugs to play at such level in that match.

He had elbow surgery in late January or early February, and he came back too fast. I think it was 6 weeks recovery but he was pushing it with playing so soon. So are you implying he made the injury up? Even Agassi confirmed he had a fractured elbow and to question how he was able to play that AO, that's because he was on strong pain killers.

There was no serious surgery like Federer had in 2016. If he had to do it why he didn't do it in the 6 months break. There was nothing about injury...he had some personal issues(his marraiage) which took some time to heal...throughout his break he was talking about importance of spirtualism and said he hired a spirtual guru to sustain him mentally through troubles.

I guess you must not have been paying attention to tennis during this time. It is a well known fact that Djokovic struggled with a chronic elbow injury for 2 years. It also well known and reported that he was returning to 2018 AO after being out with this injury, and he was wearing a sleeve that whole tournament to help with it. It was also all over mainstream news when he had the surgery. And he didn't have the surgery during that time, against the advice of Agassi and doctors, because he wanted to take a holistic approach hoping it would heal naturally when it never did.

Another question is, what if Pepe Imaz is still around with Nole's team as an active member until say, after July 2019?

Djokovic was in a slump for a long time at that pointt but if Djokovic somehow never slumped and stayed playing well you could make the case he would have beaten 2017 Fed at W.

It’s clear Fed vultured in 17-18. Djokovic defeated him in 3/3 Wimbledon finals surrounding that 2017 win and won 5 Australian open titles.

Full credit to the maestro, he did the same in 09-10 with Nadal injured.
