Alexandrova with a walkover from countrywoman Kudermetova in what was going to be a rematch of the Rosmalen final from last week.

She's into the SF.

Burrage on course for 3 defeats in a row.

When Burrage played Boulter in that final, she was one win away that day from reaching the top 100. If she now never reaches the top 100 (I think she's about 128 now), that's a hell of a thing to reflect on. I wonder how many players in history have got to within 1 win of the top 100 but never made it. It could be a lot, it could be none.

Sakkari yet again just 2 wins away from just her 2nd career title.

Yes, as it stands Sakkari has only ever won 1 title in her entire career.

This run to the title should be a lot easier than her last few SF's....

2023 1000 Madrid SF - lost to #2 Sabalenka
2023 1000 Indian Wells SF - lost to #2 Sabalenka
2023 1000 Doha SF - lost to #4 Pegula

Uh oh. Wonder what’s going on with Hawkeye? Does the chair have any power to overrule the Hawkeye call? Bc the players don’t have challenges.

Maria lost at the Semi again.

Donna Vekic is an enigma. She doesn’t have great quickness, insane powers, great serves. She just wins. I think her strength is her gutsiness. The next to last shot on match point #4 where she closed out demonstrated it. The inside-out forehand landed 6 inches from the sideline set up the putaway. Take guts to want to do the shot, and to carry it out.

Quentin Halys famously was one win away from the top 100 on several occasions during his career.
But he managed to break the curse recently.

Forgot to mention she's elegant on court. Classy player.

She is. Although my girl Muchova is the Apex of class Inness on court. Vekic used to be quite a bit slimmer. She got injured and was playing off and on a couple of year and now her torso and neck/chin filled out a little.

We going predictions or preferences?

Preferences for me:

Jelena
Donna
Krueger (She trains in DFW.)

And this is funny.

Maria entered the world rankings two years before Krueger was born.

Next week's thread is a little early with Bad Homburg starting this morning.

I know I've asked before, but does anyone know whether Siniakova and Krejcikova are temporarily playing with other partners or if it's a permanent split?
