Ooooh! I see you're hybriding it. I like Fire in my EZONE 98 at 45. I might try a full bed of REXIS at 50. Then hybrid it at 50 Rexis/45 Fire similar to your setup. :-D What do you like about this combo?
I think it's a blend of all the things I like — comfort, midlevel power, a serious amount of feel and ease to the bed. A good amount of control as well I'd say. My BH slice and slice serve weren't biting as much as I'd like, but that might be me. A few more hours with it hopefully this weekend

What didn't you like about a full bed of one or the other? Did you ever try a full bed of either string?

Did a fb of rexis, didn't however of fire. I haven't done a fb of poly in over a year since my arm injury. The full multi was super comfy, similar to the hybrid setup although I didn't love the control (as I don't with most full beds of multi). I found it also a little too soft for the DR frame on its own. I lose sensation when things are too plush... Fire brought some stiffness back to the bed so it wasn't as mushy. Still early days though, only 8 hours on the fb and 4 hours on hybrid.

I'm into FBs of poly - soft polys. I demoed the EZONE 98 with a FB of multi and loved it - but I've been having a lot of trouble finding a good FB of poly. Fire has been the best so far. Poly Tour Pro 120mm in the DR98 was my go-to. It doesn't work in the new EZONE 98 for some reason.

I'll restring with a FB of REXIS tonight.

Interesting! Is Kyrgios still using PTP in the ezone? I'm tempted to try a FB of fire. For now happy with this hybrid... Let me know how you get on with rexis!

I also found PTP to be a little too mushy in a gut hybrid. In my 97 Pro (330g) I'm currently using Klip mains and Strike crosses and really like it. Feels much more crisp but is still very arm friendly. Strike does seem somewhat powerful for a poly, but you could probably counter that with higher tension and/or thicker gauge.

After playing 6 doubles sets as well as hitting several hours with a variety of 4.5-5.5 players with a VS Touch 15L (55lbs) and Polytour Strike 1.20mm on a SV98+, I have to say I'm sort of "meh" on Strike as a cross for hybrid. It feels crisper, but lower powered than the PTP or PTFire. It's does very well when I take big cuts on the ball against big hitters, but once I try to bunt with a short swing or attack a soft ball without taking a big swing, the string actually depowers the gut. Spin is good, I'd say a smidgen less than PTP, but neither are as good as the PTF, with the SIF coat for string movement.
Strike is really what Yonex sells it as, a lower powered control poly. I'd not mind it for days where I know I'll be hitting out a lot, or when conditions are very quick and light.

Been using Poly Tour Spin G mains and MonoGut ZX in the cross at 52lbs. Feels good but def a little on the stiff and boardy side. Spin is good but not as good as Tour Bite/ZX combo.
Tried the Strike with the MonoGut ZX and it is noticeable softer than the Spin G. Perhaps a touch stiffer than Poly Tour Pro. Good spin.
I like the feel. It may be my go to setup in the winter.

I strung my DR98+ at 55lbs full bed poly strike. At first felt amazing good control and power. Definitely felt stiffer than PTP even the 130 gauge. Also felt stiffer then rpm blast that I used to use in my pure drive. Feel was less too.

After about 2 hrs of hitting is when it went down hill for me. Tension dropped or something cause everything was flying deep. Had to put lots of top spin to keep it in. As another user above said, the racket felt more power and less control oriented.

Going to go back to PTP.

Have tried the Poly Tour Strike (1.25 mm. > grey version) a couple of weeks ago in both my vcore pro (310) and ezone 98, but it was by far not fulfilling the good expectations I had before I played with it.
In comparison to my favorite string (Völkl Cyclone) it was giving me to much power and less control.
My vcore pro transformed completely from a pure control oriented and less powerful racket to a ''powerhouse'' with a certain lack of control and feel.
To my experience this string has an unbelievable direct feel if we're talking about the fast response and energy it gives when the ball hits the stringbed.
To me it felt like the ball was just not getting enough time to sink into the stringbed and jumped away with unpredictable launch angles.
In the ezone it was strung at 24/23 kg and in the vcore pro at 23/22 kg, so tension weight was not the issue in this case.

In my ezone 98 it played somewhat better, but still not comparable to the Cyclone which is to me still one of the best playing strings in Yonex frames.

After two hours of intensive playing with the Strike I still couldn't find my way with it and decided to cut it out of my vcore pro and my ezone.

A lot of people are speculating about the fact that it should be fully comparable to the Luxilon Alu Power, but to me it's not giving the same amount of control and feel.
The level of power it gives is even higher than the Alu Power. The good thing of the Strike is that it has a really good tension maintenance.

My personal opinion is that the Strike is giving (to) less value for the money...
How do would you compare your ezone and core pro in general? Which do you like most? I'm eyeing those rackets atm.

I have played it (gray 1.25) now for 6h in a VCore Pro 97 330 at 44/42. Overall I have to say that I'm very impressed by this string. Great balance of control, feel, tension maintenance and durability. It has already outlasted anything else I have tried in that racquet (broke everything within 4h) and although there is some notching, I'm pretty sure it will last at least another 2h if not 4h. Tension loss feels surprisingly minimal so far and strings are still snapping back, I still had full confidence with my shots. Control and pocketing are great, for me it just has the right amount of power (low but perfect for lower tensions) and I can feel the ball in the string bed. To me, far superior to PTP, highly recommended. Reminds me of Kirschbaum Max Power Rough. Spin is on par with any other round poly for me.

I'm curious if the two colours play differently or not.

I just tried a hybrid of Rexis 125 in the mains and Strike 1.2 black in the cross of my Sv95 at 53/50lbs and it was super plush, not crisp like my usual gut poly hybrid. First session no string movement, but after the second the Rexis main was getting stuck out of place so I cut it out. I think the Rexis may be better as a cross string, which is how Naomi Asaka uses it.

I restrung my Sv95 with a full bed of Strike 1.25 Grey at 46 for a test and I’m really liking it! I don’t normally use full poly, I’m 4 sessions in and playing great. Amazing tension maintenance: racquet tune is saying after an initial loss of 4 lb off the stringer plus the first hitting sesssion, it’s only lost another half a pound over the next 3 hitting sessions and that included serving a basket! Already past the 8hr mark and still as new for me :)
Going to buy a Reel, as Strike feels great in the Sv95

Thanks for your input. I've just received a pack of Strike in black 125 and 120 and will give it a try. I'm glad to hear about the tension maintenance because I want to hybrid it with gut.

Regarding rexis, it's a multi and I've heard that multi in the crosses with poly mains is the least durable combo? Is that true? I've only ever tried using multi in the mains as a replacement for gut.

Hah! No. I did play with the Strike, finally.

Did. Not. Like. It.

The firmness wasn't what really made me hate it. It was the trajectory of the ball and inconsistency of the feel. Day 1, it was good and soft. I noticed I'd get sporadic balls that had absolutely no spin on them. My tennis-bunts would fly long and slices would float. Sometimes I'd get some great topspin and action on the ball. Mostly, though, I got no action. The strings would stay 'stuck' like syn guy does. I couldn't feel much of the ball. The string was firm, but it wasn't wild like the PolyTour HS string is. I strung it at 45 in my EZONE 98.

Few days later, I played with it again and the stringbed seemed super stiff and board-y. Again, random balls would fly on me and I could never dial in the spin. I ended up cutting it out after that.

maybe it works better in a hybrid with gut or multi.

:) Nope.

And I tried a hybrid or two with monopreme and Cyclone. Not really into the Hybrids. I'm more of a full poly guy - that's probably why I've just been sitting on the two packages of REXIS.

Tried rexis in the cross with poly tour fire. Maybe I'm not used to poly/multi, but there wasnt much spin and I couldn't control the depth. broke in 3hrs so not the best durability.

Got strike in my crosses with gut mains. Very powerful.....average spin.

I've had the opportunity to try both the poly tour strike and drive string from Yonex for a few good hits so I think I can chime in on this action. For background I'm a hard hitting 4.5 player with a 2HBH who puts an emphasis on controlled aggression on my ground-strokes building up to the put-away shot. So the PTD (as far as I've heard) was supposed to be a sort of RPM blast copy from yonex, what with the 8 sides and feel and all.

Sad to say I don't think these two strings (RPM and PTD) are similar at all. Drive feels more like a round string than a shaped string to me, and this is shown in its pretty unremarkable spin potential. I'd say it's maybe slightly above average at spin but good at comfort. Never gave me any really painful vibrations. Something else i noticed is that when i would crank up the racket head speed and really try to whomp the ball in a relatively flat motion, the strings would cup the ball and send it flying long consistently. So i couldn't use it for more than a few hits because simply put i didn't have the control i wanted, and this was strung at 53 pounds in a 2017 pure strike. Serving felt off likely from that strange amount of power and volleys were similar. I most likely will not be using it in the future.

As far as the Strike, this string is actually true to its shape and plays like a well made round poly. The rumors said it was supposed to be like Alu Power and it may get close in my opinion. Good tension maintenance with hard hitting, good soft feel on impact, great spin, only knock i have on it at the moment is that in the 17 gauge size (1.2 mm thickness) it's a little bit too much power for me personally as I'm used to the bite of Hyper G but nothing I or anyone else could get used to. If i can somehow reign in that power with a thicker gauge and maybe a higher tension, it could be a real winner. Shots feel more consistent with the strike and serving as well as volleys feel more controlled overall than with the drive. I could feel comfortable going into a tournament with this.

For someone who like strings such as Kirshbaum pro line 2, any round kirshbaum string actually, head hawk, Yonex PTP, etc. that give you good spin and that reliable response that only a round poly can give, this one is at least worth a try. I know the pricetag will scare off many customers but I thought of it like this: if this string plays similar to alu power yet is slightly cheaper and has better tension maintenance, what's not to like??

I too feel the Strike was too powerful and I had balls sail long for no reason. Have you played other Yonex polyesters?

I agree with your feedback that the string doesn’t allow the ball to sit on them at all. It jumps with a lot of unpredictability.

Interesting that I don't feel that way about the Strike in the VCORE... I did play with it again last night and the strings feel like they've lost their magic after 1 week... *sad trombone*

The dwell time on 1.20 Strike is so low that that's what is giving the negative feedback. The VC97 310 has a classic feel with the ball sitting on the strings based on its inherent qualities so using a string like Strike works fine with it. The 1.20 Strike plays pretty good for me in that frame.

Personally I thought that Strike 1.25 plays fantastic in the VCP330 at 44/42 with exceptional durability and playability duration. That was the grey version, not sure if there are any differences between black and grey. Don't understand why they don't offer it at the same price as their other strings.

Oh, that's weird... more control? More consistent response?

Yeah more control for sure, I did not feel like balls were sailing multiple times for no good reason and for me to feel a little scared to swing hard and through the ball with a little less topspin.

The string is definitely duller and has a lot more ball pocketing, so just trying to adjust to it. Between the two strings, the Pro is much better for me and my game.

And again...the string goes awol on me and control becomes an issue second session. What string do I need to use to fix this..? Should I bump my 49 tension up to 52?
Fire. :p

But if tension maintenance is a thing... try PolyTour Pro HS? Super firm, board-like feel... if you're into that.

I’ll try Fire 125 at 52 and see how that responds. If I’m feeling like PTP is not giving me pin point accuracy after day 1, will Fire?

Maybe I have to give gut / poly a try in this frame? Cross it with Strike 125, 59/56?

I love Poly Tour Strike in my Vcore 95 (around 56 though to mate it a bit), can anyone share what they think about it in hybrid with Vs Touch? I know PTS in full bed tension maintenance is pretty good but was wondering if it could be a good contender for a good cross.

Bumping an old thread to get some more experienced users of both this and PTP. In the 16L side by side, what are the differences?

Agreed, in a Vcore 98 the black polytour strike at 54 lbs plays amazing. Just bought a used vcore that luckily happened to come strung with this otherwise I might've never tried it. The impact of striking the ball is unreal feels so good a lot of ball pocketing with tons of feel & control. It is low powered so you can hit as hard as you want and the ball never flies uncontrollably I feel total control with the string. Playing with this setup I felt like I was using what the Babolat Pure Strike should be... lol. The spin is great too noticed crazy quick dipping spin going from high to low in an instant on a relatively low trajectory.

I think its pretty similar to Polytour Spin which is an amazing gem, but with a different playstyle. The Strike is more about piercing power shots to hit through your opponent. Its powerful not because the string is powerful but because you can take such a hard full swing and convert it to very controllable power shots.

The only downside I found with it is its quite firm and could cause injury issues...

Hope I inspired someone to try it. Use this string at least once as someone else said amazing fast response and energy when the ball hits the stringbed. Thats what I love about it the most, and that's combined with nice control feel & durability.

I agree it’s a good string for durability. But at least to me 4G still provides better connected feel while strike is more muted. I suggest you to try tour M8 if you are into that kind of strings :)
