Hello Folks,

Could you please take a moment and advice me which would be right setup with these strings for my Babolat PD 2012? These are the strings I have with me at the moment.

1. Mantis Control Synthetic - 16 (MCS) - (3)
2. Kirscbaum Proline Evolution - 17 - (3)

Your recommendations on Mains/Crosses setup with these strings and also ideal Tensions Please....

I am a 3.5 - 4.0'ish player with a OHBH and good topspin FH... Just want to try out few strings.... and this is my first experiment. Thank You.

I believe what you have is Mantis Comfort Synthetic which is not very durable as a full job or main string for this 4.5 player but may suffice for you. I'd try it as a cross if you are worried about string breakage.

My bad! Yes it is Comfort Synthetic. Hangover from the early morning match yesterday :) between Roger and Rafa.

Also, I read that poly and a stiff frame might not be too arm friendly unless strung at lower tensions. So, If Proline evolution goes into Mains, what's the tension you would recommend and how about the tension in the crosses? Thanks for taking the time to respond.

Without knowing much about your game, tension is hard to recommend. May want to start with the poly around 50 and the MCS at 54.

completely agree. you said that you like to hit a nice topspin Fh shot. It should work out fine. The MCS should soften the string bed alot at 54. I also use MCS as my cross at 54 for my setup of BHBR/MCS.

1). Babolat Hybrid RPM Blast 17+ VS 16 String; 2). Tech Biphase 17g is very, very good but doesn't last long enough. The co-poly/gut hybrid last longer, provides more spin, may not be as powerful, but is almost as powerful.

50/54 may be a bit low for that stick, but it's a good place to start. I was thinking more like 54/58.
Just as a rule of thumb, since the rec tension is 55-62, I'd put the multi cross mid-hi and the mains 4lbs lower as a reference point.
Still, it's probably safer to start too low and work up than the other way around.

Don't bother with expensive multis or gut as cross strings. You can put a value multi in as a cross and it will play 99% as well.

Good point, that is a stiff racket. We still don't know the playing style or NTRP though.

Thanks Mikeler. That thread of yours on multi's is AWESOME. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I will set it up and see how it goes. Eagerly waiting for my PD 2012 at the moment!

Thanks. I will start with 50/54 > proline/mcs and will go up if required/needed.

Sure.. Will try it out. Any specific string setup that you would recommend for players at my level?

Report back after you use this setup and then we can find out the positives/negatives of how it works for your game.
