In 2017 I legitimately thought he’d be a 10x GS champion eventually. All the tools. None of the mentality.

That said the Zverev disrespect is a little overboard, even today: he outplayed Rafa even if it was a poor Nadal.

Maybe some disrespect him because his daughter is now three months old and he hasn't bothered to even meet her once. That's pretty pathetic by anyone's standards.
Let's keep tennis away from personal life of a professional athlete, my friend. We should base our opinion about a player based upon what he does on court, inside the stadium arena and press conferences; that's all imho.

I'm going to base my opinion on any player on whatever criterion I want. ;) Using your logic, if a pro player murders someone at a red light tomorrow, we can't be bothered about it because we must base our opinion on what they do on court or in press conferences. Think about that for a moment.

*He already met her.

But yeah, still took him weeks to do so, even after he was already out of the tournament, which is bs. That, plus the Olya thing... he deserves all the disrespect.

I don't think that works in 2021.

Zverev also beats Nadal 3 consecutive times.
Outside of Federer and Djokovic, who has accomplished this? I don't think many...
... let alone in straight sets... he has won 6 sets in a row (without even a tie-break)
Yeah, off the top of my head can't think of anyone besides those two. Impressive mini-streak for Zed. There seems to be a match-up issue at play here. High-bouncing lefty forehand into Zed's dominant shot. And like some other taller players who have troubled Rafa in the past, the high bounce hits close to Zed's sweet spot. Of course, none of this means anything when it comes to BO5 at the French, where Rafa will likely eat Zed's breakfast, lunch and dinner... but interesting once again to see how important match-ups are in the pro game.

Well all those guys pretty much suck on grass so far.

It’s not proper grass these days anyway. If Wimbledon had kept it fast, as it was before the pan-surface slow down that began in the mid-90s, Fed would have won 15 titles at SW19 (and a fair number more USO’s in addition).

Only 3 players have achieved the holy trifecta.

  • Beat Federer on grass
  • Beat Nadal on clay
  • Beat Djokovic on hard
The 3 players:
  1. Andy Murray
  2. Dominic Thiem
  3. Alexander Zverev

Rofl!
Federer is 16 years his senior. Not a big deal imo

That's like a prime Federer beat Mats Wilander who's also 16 years older(assuming that Wilander plays in his advanced age).

It's the only kind of grass we have, so we can't do much about it.

Why not? Every win counts. Nobody cares about outside factors. Lame attempt.

Im going go see if I can get Laver to play me and see if I can win a set. Then I’ll be GOAT.

But don’t you dare bring up “outside factors” like “Not an ATP match” and “He’s 110 years old” :p

And if he bagels me I’ll try again the next year. Until then #BudgeGOAT

Well, duh, man. Ned got damn lucky with Sod falling off a cliff, Cilic having WTA mentality and Delps being out of the game 500 times. Outside of his beloved RG, Rafi would've been in deep shiht vs a well playing version of any of those three guys.

He has really been surprisingly underachieving - it’s not just his mental tennis game but his growth as a person that has been below par.

He’s going to achieve really big things but he could have been an ATG.

Nalbandian was one point away from going 3-0 against Nadal without dropping a set. But he choked 5 match points lol.

I'm not a Fan of Zedraffe but how do you know if he's seen his daughter or not? I've heard he's spent time in Berlin between Miami and Monte Carlo to see his daughter.

Davydenko won 4 in a row, Blake won 3 in a row.

Zverev to lose his next match against Nadal. Seeing his career so far, it seems like he is the "nobody loses four consecutive matches against me"-guy :D

The ‘holiest of holiest’ is having a better head-head record against both Nadal and Federer especially when you have played each of them at least 50 times. No one could have imagined that this was possible ten years ago.

Much easier to do it when they are all 30 plus and Federer is late 30’s

Murray is in a category of his own in my mind, he’s world apart in class from Thiem/Zverez
