Thanks for ending the FA Cup drought and continuing the youth policy, Van Gaal.

It is our fault. Behind the times and not understanding the philosophy. The 1.29 goals per game era. Even with all that, he still managed to win the FA Cup. LVG, I salute you.

Tough to really understand this philosophy...

I hope Giggs stays or returns one day.
LOL at which away match did that happen? I forgot.

Yeah, interesting to see what happens to Giggsy now. Could GuruJose be his final teacher before he does take the hot seat? I was/am anti Giggs taking over now because we need a proven winning manager for this situation we are in. As for the future, we will see.

That image is from Newcastle back in March 2015.

I am against him becoming the manager right now too, but as time goes, he could be great. Sir Alex, Moyes, Van Gaal and Mou definitely help.

Oh yes, Young scored the late winner.

No official statement yet.

Full statement from Louis himself:

It has been an honour to manage such a magnificent club as Manchester United FC, and in doing so, I have fulfilled a long-held ambition.

I am immensely proud to have helped United win the FA Cup for the 12th time in the club's history. I have been privileged during my management career to have won 20 trophies but winning the FA Cup, which is steeped in so much history, will always be one of the most special achievements of my career.

I am very disappointed to be unable to complete our intended three-year plan. I believe that the foundations are firmly in place to enable the club to move forward and achieve even greater success.

I hope that winning the FA Cup will give the club a platform to build upon next season to restore the success that this passionate set of fans desire.

Having managed in Holland, Spain and Germany, I had always hoped for the opportunity to manage in English football and be part of English culture. Both of these experiences have lived up to expectations and been fantastic.

I thank my players and wish them well for next season. It has been a pleasure to work with them and it has been particularly rewarding to see so many young players take their chance to break into the first team and excel. I look forward to watching the continued development of these young players next season.

Thank you to the owners and board of Manchester United for giving me the opportunity to manage this great club.

I would also like to express my gratitude to the amazing United supporters. They are truly the best fans in the world.

I am indebted to my support and coaching staff, who have given me their all during their time at the club.

I am deeply grateful to each and every member of the club’s staff - the sports science team, the medical team, the kit and laundry department, club administration, the press office, the manager's team, the Academy team, ground staff and the catering team, both at Old Trafford stadium and Carrington training ground, all of whom have given me their unwavering support in my time at United. Never in my 25 years as a manager have I been so well supported in my role.

Finally, my special thanks go to Sir Alex Ferguson and Sir Bobby Charlton for always making me and my family feel so welcome throughout my time as Manchester United manager.

Klopp on an amazing 5 finals losing run already.

don't tell me you're one of those that call klopp a "loser", just because he lost a few finals? Not to mention his team was the underdog going into the final most of the times, and were all close matches, he was just a bit unlucky, it happens.

As for the atmosphere at anfield being one of the worst of the country, pleaseeee

I've said it here before too, that the atmosphere in the games against the midtable teams is pretty bad, especially if it's a weekend game where you have to deal with the tourists who all they want is to take selfies and post them on facebook (although theyre not the only ones to blame for the lack of good atmosphere, I know locals who go to games and instead of standing up and sing, they sit down on their arses for 90 minutes checking their phones, storm out before ht to go to the canteen etc that's just unacceptable imo). You have the kop trying to create some noise (and some blocks of the anny Road) but generally it's below average especially if it's not am important game. But let's be honest the same can be said for nearly every ground in the land. Especially as far as the big teams are concerned. Emirates is the worst along with etihad, they're not even worth a comment. OT is generally awful, they only sing when we come over, not even during the Manchester Derby (it sounds like a theater parts of the game - oh the irony ;)). Stamford Bridge i think its a bit better then those mentioned at least singing wise but they ruin it all with those cringey plastic flangs, it really is embarrassing. I'll never forget Gerrards last game there, absolute ****ehole with those "banners" (they applauded him while he was going off and Gerrard in his post match comments gave them stick for doing so:p). Spurs is decent but they're not a big club anyway :p and I'm 100% sure changing grounds will affect the whole feeling. I'd say overall the best are Palace (although I don't like all that drum banging and whenever I tune in they seem to always sing they same song all over again), and Stoke probably. St James Park can be very toxic too even against their own team :p Upton Park deserves a mention too but we'll never see it again, sadly.
Point is, is anfield good against the likes of Norwich etc on a Sunday afternoon? No, it's pretty disappointing. But ths same applies to every other ground too, as I said the other big teams are even worse.
You see the real anfield in the derbies especially in midweek/night/European games. And no other ground In Europe can compare to it. Chelsea 05 semifinal probably the best game I've ever been for atmosphere. Mental. I'll never forget that feeling. Better then sex. United, Dortmund, and Villarreal this season were all brilliant, not Chelsea 05,07 bracket but definitely the best since 2009 (add to that the title run in games in 2013/14 although I feel even them weren't as good). Welcoming the coach with flares, flags and banners before the game and intimidating the opposition all this is part of the atmosphere, I don't think any other team does this (well Madrid does but without the flares:p). So the verdict, could anfield be better? No doubt. But when the big boys come to town nothing compares to it.
A fun story now, I was sitting next to an old couple,, (actually not that old but anyway) (Deffo locals) for the villarreal game, two mates were just behind me. When we scored the first one I went mental and jumped on the woman's back, screaming like a madman etc typical me while one mate literally fell on top of me lol I didn't even realise it at the time, when everyone 'calmed down' (riiiight) she gave me a bollocking, I apologised but she decided it was better to have a chat with a stewart (some of them are right c*nts), in the end they changed seats with two lads from the front row I think, and everyone enjoyed the game.
why the **** do these people even bother going to games? Really pisses me off. lol rant over.

As for mourinho you can't be serious, mourinho can get the best out of mediocre players? More like he can get the best out of quality players who have 1 or 2 good years left in them. That's what he did with Inter. That's what did with Chelsea, both times. Madrid is entirely different because they're a bunch of stars and mourinho with his ego would never succeed there. Ancelotti was perfect for them imo,and he will be very good for bayern.

As @Fena14 said, we shall see in a couple of years if United was right to appoint Jose. ;)

No, I think Klopp is awesome, it's just that I wanted to remind you of this little stat. ;)

Though I don't think Anfield is the best ground, this novel you have just written now must be directed towards someone else, since I didn't criticize your atmosphere.

If he wins a title, appointing him was the right decision.

For me top4 plus a cup would be a brilliant season for next year. I don't expect miracles, and as I've said many times before we shouldn't be quick to judge, I Hate all the negativity after a few bad results.

Oh and good luck to Brendan and Celtic, he's better then them imo but it's his boyhood club so I understand wanting to go there even for 12 months. I'll never forget that season, those who don't give him credit and say "it was all Luis suarez" can **** off especially if they're from our fanbase, bunch of pricks.

I feel sick of football since last Wednesday, but it's always nice having a football chat lol

You can save a draft and quote from several pages or copy-paste all of the quotes one by one. Don't know about your tagging problem though.

Similar feeling here, though I would really love if they summon a title challenge in the Europa League. Then a Premier League title challenge in 2017-18...

Can't wait for Celtic to show great character. :D

the character joke was a funny one when it started if I'm honest but now it's getting boring a bit like Lvg and philosophy okay we got it :p celtic btw are a huge club not as big as us obviously but still they have a massive fanbase all over the world. Its a shame that the Scottish league is one of the most boring in Europe, hopefully rangers can change that, I mean challenge celtic a bit not win it! :p

Sheffield Wednesday hull for the championship playoff final and atletico Madrid real Madrid CL final I bet the former will be more entertaining. I fancy Atletico to get their revenge would be sweet.

Surprised you figured out spoilers but not drafts. :D

Well, that is another way to enter the Champions League if necessary. You would have been there if you won you know... ;) Plus it is the only missing trophy in the cabinet.

I could picture Atletico defending a 1-0 lead with all 11 men while Simeone is raging on the touchline and destroying everything in his path. :D Hope they will mark Ramos better this time.

I know but it's okay, maybe it would be a blessing in disguise not having European distractions, maybe it'll help us challenge for the title who knows ;)

That ramos header must have been so heartbreaking for the Atletico fans i can't even imagine. Ive never been fan of Simeones football but he's a wonderful manager, love his passion. My feeling is they'll win it.

At the end of the day, my predictions are always spot on,no? ;)

I would love Atletico to win because they were so close 2 years ago. Then they have been the obvious underdog for a while with the toughest path (Barca, Bayern and now Real, can't get any tougher).

Plus imagine if Real don't win:

2016/17 trophies: Man United 1 Real 0
2016/17 cup finals: Liverpool 2 Real 1

Not to mention they won 1 league in the last 8 years, just like Leicester. :D

Where is your evidence he isn't good with mediocre players? The last time he managed them was at Porto when he won the European Cup, the only time in the modern European cup era that has been achieved with so little resources. An outstanding management achievement. Hopefully Atletico change that and join them on Saturday night.

But it was at União de Leiria where Mourinho first made his name, the small Portuguese club he had challenging for the title. He took the Porto job mid season so we will never know if he could have pulled off a miracle and went all the way. But his work there was very, very impressive.

My concerns on Mourinho are more to do with whether or not his is past his peak, his brand of football is no longer the dominant one at the top of the game like it was 2004-10. (Same with Benitez) Both past thier best due to evolution of the game arguably. But we will see.

Other concerns I have are to do with giving him (and Mendes) a free reign on the transfer pot and feeling their dealings might not be motivated purely by what is best for the club but themselves.

And you're basing this on ONE great year he had with Porto (he was a bit lucky too but anyway), 12 years ago?? I've never heard of that other Portuguese team you mentioned and I don't watch their league (I bet you don't either) so I'm not going to pretend I watched him there, but again 6 months? Please.

Simeone is playing pretty much the same brand of football with atletico, maybe with a bit more pressing, so I wouldn't worry about his style of play being old fashioned.

I mentioned liverpool United before, well Chelsea United will be very interesting as well, I wonder how will the fans at Stamford Bridge react, imagine United scoring a last minute equaliser and Maureen celebrating in front of the fans, I can definitely see that happening and it womt go down well. And rightly so.

Absolutely not!

Even if we had won that game, we'd still have 2 tricky games left against Palace and Newcastle, it's not like it was the last game of the season. I would bite your arm off for the 2 CL final every day of the week. Not to mention that nothing ever comes close to what happened in Istanbul, no sane man would trade anything for a night like this :p

Was football invented in 1992 with sky? I don't think so. As far as I'm concerned we have 18 league titles and we're the most successful club in England. Liverpool are not "Virgins" in any department, whereas United have never won an UEFA cup have they? ;) And it's not like mourinho was a CL virgin but they way he lost them, will haunt him forever. Did Luis Garcia effort crossed the line? There was a banner at the time, I think Ive got a picture of it somewhere.

Did Luis Garcia effort crossed the line? There was a banner at the time, I think Ive got a picture of it somewhere.

"It was over the line

And even if it wasnt, who cares"

Brilliant.

(Oh and I'm not cocky lol although I do believe well absolutely smash them next year :p)
Of course it wasn't, I was just messing with ya. ;) I will ignore most successful club in England part. :p The haunting, I don't know, maybe you are right, he always wanted to win CL with an English club. Btw, the parked bus will always haunt you too. ;)
Josemania will be huge in the summer and next season if he does well.
Can't wait for that one to start.
