Tennis is pretty boring right now, Next gen still suck and probably always will, Djokovic is Finnish and Nadal is dominating on clay as per usual, and no one will be surprised if Fed wins Halle and Wimbledon again.

There’s never been such a desperate time for the Muzziah to make his return but injuries unfortunately hinder this.

So how much do you miss the Muzz? Do you think a fully fit Murray could threaten the dominance of Federer and Nadal?

My interest in tennis has dulled recently, so much so i didn't bother with the sudden death/powerplay leagues this week

Whether that's because we know whose going to win every clay tournament, or because of the lackluster next gen, or if it's just me having other interests in life, i'm not sure.

Bring back Mury!!

Murray was never part of the big four; he merely had the Henman spotlight on his shoulders. Wawrinka is really the better player; not more talented, but more accomplished and successful.

I dont agree that Stan is more accomplished because Murray had more Masters 1000 than him.And Murray have also WTF title which Stan doesnt have. They have the same amount of GS though

it's nice to have a big name back in the game because it makes for more interesting matches and more drama

his tennis game? nah, i'll pass

that adds up to something between being neutral and straight up apathy

Slaying Giants at grand slams is enough for me to put him ahead of Murray

Not a fan of Andy's game, but I still miss him on tour. It's better for men's tennis with Muzz in the mix. I also miss Kim at his matches and all of Andy's crazy swearing at his box, grabbing his thigh and the faint possibility of Andy finally winning the AO.

I can't sleep at night I miss Murray so much!

But seriously, do I miss Murray? No. But a healthy Murray is a plus for the ATP because at least he's consistent and a fighter.

As for will a healthy Murray returning to tennis threaten the dominance of Federer and Nadal? I doubt it. First of all, I 'm not sure Murray will ever get back to near his best and secondly, did he ever really threaten Fedal at slams? Not really.

I'd rather see youngsters rise and threaten Federer, Nadal, Djokovic, Murray. It's long overdue.

What I've noticed especially on my time on MTF prior to joining here (You tennis fans know that forum), is that people are warming to players they didn't really like when they were at their best.

Djokovic and Murray, especially Murray polarizes fans, in regards of his demeanour or playing style and Djokovic caught the ire of some because he came out of the shadows of the two ATG's who currently hold the top two positions.

It's endearing seeing so much positivity and compassion towards these fallen "giants", Murray is more of a Cyclops in that sense lol

I am quite certain Andy is transitioning at the moment and we all need to respect that; including myself

He has a Gold Medal around his neck and he’s smiling, Novak doesn’t and he’s crying.

Thanks for proving my point.
That they are junk trophies journeymen can win?

Sure bud.

Let's not talk about the fact half the field pulled out of even the 2016 Olympics either. :D

Would Novak Djokovic winner of 12 grand slams, 30 masters, 5 WTFs, etc. be that emotional and upset if that was the case?

I don’t think so.

How a player feels about an event doesn't change the prestige behind it (there is next to none).

Also, Massu isn't the only example. Let's talk about Paes, Kafelnikov, meth Agassi, etc. :D

Olympic tennis was just making a comeback, do we call AO a junk trophy because it was only won by mugs not that long ago? No it’s regarded as a prestigious event now and I believe in time the Olympics will be too.

It will be forever thrash as long as Federer doesn't win it. Djokovic-Federer final in Tokyo 2020 would be so juicy.

cept Stan beat both Nadal and joker in slam finals... dominated them in fact. Still I agree with your analysis, it just doesnt account for stanimal's appearances at key moments.

This point has been beaten to death here and elsewhere. Roger Federer also has been desperate to win an OGM, but had he ever won one in 2004, '08 or 2012 he wouldn't give one damn. Just like with Davis Cup, once he won it, he never played it again and never mentions it. The players themselves highly esteem an Olympic medal, no doubt about it. But that doesn't alter that for tennis legacies, it counts for just about zero. Who even knows who Rosset or Massu are?! Agassi has one and nobody ever mentions it. His big career achievement was obviously the CGS. Andy Murray's obituary will read in 70 years:

Sir Andrew Murray, First British Man to Win Wimbledon in 76 Years, Passes Away Peacefully in his Sleep at the age of 100

His Gold medals will get a passing mention halfway through the obit.

I miss him. For me the single funniest sight in tennis comes from Andy.
Well, two actually. No one adjusts his balls more than Andy. He must have
a couple of "hanging chads" in his shorts. The gold standard however is
what I like to call "The Claw." When he gets really angry he hunches over,
forms an upturned claw with his right hand, stares right into it from just
inches away and screams an obscenity into it. I almost die laughing when
he does this. I'll rewind it over and over for 5 minutes and laugh out loud
every time. Bottom line: he's good for tennis.

Well, Nadal won the OSGM in 2008 and played the Olympics again in 2016 (would have played 2012 too had he not been injured). Murray was just as eager to defend his OSGM in 2016 as he was to win his first in 2012 so the idea that players win one and then forget about it is just laughable.

Who even knows who Rosset or Massu are?!

I'm not sure what point you are trying to make? Who even knows who Gimeno or Costa or Gomez are and yet all 3 won Roland Garros. Does that devalue it as a tournament?

Agassi has one and nobody ever mentions it. His big career achievement was obviously the CGS.

On the contrary it get mentioned all the time in descriptions of his career achievements, albeit after his Slams of course, and gets mentioned all the time on here whenever anyone tries to make the case that OSGMs are meaningless in tennis usually by fans of playes like Federer and Djokovic who have never won one.

Andy Murray's obituary will read in 70 years:

Sir Andrew Murray, First British Man to Win Wimbledon in 76 Years, Passes Away Peacefully in his Sleep at the age of 100

Slams are always the pinnacle of a player's achievement and Wimbledon will, of course, always be cited as the pinnacle of Murray's. But so what? Does that devalue all the other tournaments he and other players have won just because they don't match up to a Slam and, if it doesn't, why should their Olympic achievements be treated any differently?

Olympic Gold medals: Murray 2, Stan 1/2 (In reality, Stan's gold medal is shared with Federer's and together their's count as 1 for Spain. Murray's 2 gold meals each count as 2 for GB all by themselves).

If Federer had a serious back injury in Australia he wouldn't have played. It wasn't him but Murray who was forced to undergo career-threatening back surgery at the end of that year.
