Here's how I saw it

First set
Both played amazing, game was close. Towards end of first set, Osaka got bit annoyed at all the balls coming back and really lost her calm. Hsieh stayed calmer and won the set.

Second set
Osaka frustrated and quickly down 0-3. Reverted from her normal game and tried something different, gave into Hsieh's game.
Towards middle she somehow re-figured a way to come back which is most impressive then got momentum to win.

Third
Momentum carries over

I tuned in when Naomi-chan was serving at 3-4 set one. Then saw her tripping over herself when serving for set1 at 5-4 all the way til set2 1-4 (she almost went two breaks down iirc).

Getting to tune in for the final game. Bye Hsieh. See you again at the next slam because you do basically nothing else at the other events.

Well, if she's looking lethal then who is gonna stop her?

I don't know really. Her draw is tough but she plays better when she has a tough draw to me. I think her sister may do the dirty work for her and end Halep, and then she will send her sister home, have Muguruza or Pliskova in the QF, Osaka in the SF. Of those players, I could see Osaka beating her again but I doubt Serena loses to her 3 times in a row if that match happens.

Hsieh out, Osaka wins! Yes!!

Onto the 4R for the second straight year. Looking to do what so few ladies have done and gone deep at a slam after winning their first slam.

So ESPN plus swallowed Naomi and Svitolina but we get Wang's match with Sevastova. Odd choices.

Glad Naomi is through, what happened with the dropped set? Low level in the 1st?

Sevastova vs. Qiang Wang now, the next opponent for Osaka.

If Sevastova, she has nothing to be worried about.

Always crazy how Zhang does well at slams now after having never won a main draw match in her entire career before beating Halep in the 1R of the Aus Open in 2016 en route to the QF. Now has made the 3R twice at the USO and once at the French. She had lost 14 consecutive 1R matches at slams before that 2016 Aus Open.
