Whats up with Thiem?

Despite his work ethic he's had a terrible start to the season. He's recently been beaten by Schwartzman (who won a total of five games in his following two matches) and now Djere. If this was on hardcourt we'd dismiss it as Thiem waiting for the clay season to arrive. But it was on clay.

Thiem is an inconsistent player, who can beat Nadal one day then win only one game vs 2017 Djokovic the next. But so far this season he's not had any good performances to offset the bad ones.

Can he pick up his form in time for the big clay court events and continue to be the main threat to Nadal?

Didn't he pick up an injury at the start of the year? Or didn't he overtrain or something?

Anyway, Thiem did have some decent HC results in the 2nd half of last year, so I'm putting this down to Thiem having the capacity to play really bad when it's bad, and not necessarily a systematic downturn in results.

He does not have much time to right the ship though, and he looks likely to lose his top 10 position during the clay season.

I guess his string experiments didn’t work so well after all.

Its his gane which needs to be fixed...
With that much power utilised properly, he can do so much damage on clay and slow HCs.....
Overtraining needs to be replaced by tennis skill development imho
Otherwise the guy will just become another basher like almagro

A while ago, I had said that he will be a late bloomer, that the time will come that he will put his game together and win something big. The more I see him play, the more wrong I feel about that old statement.

The sad thing is that he doesn't even look happy being on the court.

What's happened to Meles? Is he still around?
I wrote Meles some PM's and apparently he's taken a Sabbatical from TTW.

Regarding Thiem: someone posted a fascinating video of him in December training 6 hours a day, all off court: running, lifting and (excessive) cardio. Why isn't someone telling him to work smart, but work less? Lendl was a machine in terms of physical fitness and would hit 3 hours a day, run 4 miles at a 7:45 pace (hardly speedy) and get a rub down. No tennis player needs to do 6 hours of conditioning off court. Those 6 hours would be better spent hiring Becker or Edberg as a coach, teach him to construct points, volley, and tell him to cut his schedule in half. And that's just for starters.

Oh -- and shorten his ridiculously long back swing on both FH and BH.

String theory is pseudoscience.
physicists just wanna find general explanation of universe due to general theory of relativity and quantum theory conflict each other on different scales, experimentally it's impossible to prove this theory but yeah hard to imagine this would be truth

This just happens when you loose mental focus and just not timing your game - groundstrokes, serves returns, etc...

As someone who lifts i know too much cardio kills your gains. While hes not trying to be the hulk, too much cardio means he's basically wasting his time with those weights. He's playing like he's tired and burned out.

The vast bulk of his cardio should be on the tennis court.

he only peaks for madrid and especially roland garros.
anyway he is better than a certain tennis player who likes to throw his matches.

Thiem? Over-train? He needs to train for all those 250s!

You haven't seen the least of it, do you know of dimension Griglorious?
I believe that's where the sun rises in the west and sets in the east isn't it?

I have heard of it. I venture back every once in a while but Grigolo keeps making it very hard for me.
