Miss st. wins 4-3. Came down to a 3rd set tie break on court 4. Court 1 also went to tie break for the 3rd. Really well played match overall.

Great battle by the Gamecocks!

let's be honest, this was a totally gassed miss st team on the tail end of a messy roadtrip, having finished battling in the gainesville heat the prior evening

they had near-zero recovery time for the singles against the gamecocks

i don't like miss st, in fact i found a few of their players to be a pain in the ass in gainesville yesterday, but they will trounce south carolina if they play again on more equal footing (SEC tournie, for example)

So you mean to tell me that USC won 3 first sets on Friday, lost 2, and had one that was still going at 6-5, that their stamina had something to do with it? They went down and got walloped by Florida in singles. This Miss St. team isn't as strong as advertised. They were a combined 5 points between the two 3rd set tie breaks away from losing the match 5-2 rather than winning 4-3. I don't think it shows they're tired. I think it shows they're overrated.

Plenty of SEC tennis left which will demonstrate the gap between teams like UF and Miss St and teams like South Carolina, looking forward to it

True. South Carolina already lost to Arkansas 5-2. In the no-ad era many teams can challenge others on a given day. The course of a full season shows the truth about teams.

Just like the savvystringer said, you cannot neglect the fact that USC won first sets on basically 1,2,3, and 6 before the rain and decision to postpone the match
Regardless of the circumstances, taking MSU to the wire and losing 4-3 with actually two matches losing 7-6 in the third, you have to give credit to USC...

Gators just murdered WF - 4 quick singles straight setters, none of them ever in doubt (I hear you, no Gojo, whatever)

Riffice and Greif are as good as you get for freshmen, just mentally locked in every point they play, haven’t seen guys that play with so much grit and so few excuses since the barriCunha

Florida is by far the best SEC team

If they can stay healthy, yeah they’re looking pretty darn good right now
Even if they don't... they had Alfredo Perez and Duarte Vale sitting out today... how many college teams have a former top 5 college player and a former No. 14 junior in the world sitting on bench?
They are incredibly deep and no matter what happens, I have Florida going to Final Four at least...

Ole Miss barely survived Auburn. Their twitter kinda making a big deal out of it, acting like they just upset a top 10 team or something. Looks like a team in need of a confidence boost and they are hoping a close win (of any kind) will be it.

Gators take down Georgia at Georgia today. I drove up for the match, we are playing great. Georgia had a nice crowd but we simply out played them. Great win by AA, i don't think hes our 2nd best player but maybe I'm wrong if he can play like that. We are on a path to win the SEC this year, only TAMU left. Go Gators

It was their first SEC win, so I am sure they were making a big deal about it...lol.

Incredible effort by the Rebels!! Two incredible 4-3 wins. I believe coach Hansson is much more relaxed about this season now.

Pleased I am sure but relaxed doubtful. SEC is tough, so you can never relax.
I am very excited for the upcoming weekend in Oxford. Two great rivalries with the Bulldogs and the Volunteers. I am looking forward to see the Rebs play this weekend for the first time this season. The freshman from Croatia is looking like a very legit player. In the article published on the Ole Miss website, it says that Kranic is the 3rd Rebel freshman to win two SEC Freshman of the week honors. Two guys before him were Britton and Thiemann!!
I can’t wait to see this young man play! GO REBS!

Make sure you come out early Friday for the massacre of MS Valley St, gotta try and keep that .500 record

Every team does that these days so not sure why is JLyon targeting Ole Miss in such a way. The match with Georgia today will be a great one. I think the Rebs will win doubles, 1, 2 and 4!!

Not sure what you are referring to but the Rebels play only Georgia on Friday!
there was a match scheduled early and then just cancelled, I am not singling anyone out, because I absolutely hate the the ITA/NCAA/SEC allows teams to schedule cupcake matches in the middle of the season in order to possible meet the .500 rule if they feel like they are in danger.
Last years Arkansas Women's debacle one would think would have been the last straw but no new rulings or rules changes.

What is the point of the .500 rule anyway? If you play that tough a schedule that you are still ranked highly enough even though you have a losing record and you have earned it I have no problem with that. The Arkansas debacle just showed the absurdity of the rule.

There was a rules change. Only two matches in a day can count. No more four or six match days.

missed that part, which is good, but you still have teams scheduling DH as the season goes one, I understand some teams under .500 are very good but guess what you chose to be in the conference, if you don't like finishing lower 3rd of your P5 conference then fine, give up the $$$ and go elsewhere where you can dominate.

Talk about trying to stay above the .500 mark! These teams that are patsy's for bigger schools are finally catching on. No reason to get beat for free or to travel. This week Missouri's women's team (they don't have a men's team) will make a special trip for a Tuesday match at Savannah State where they will play a double header. Savannah State apparently took advantage of the situation by getting two additional home matches. Most of these poor teams travel to the bigger schools. Some get a little piece of change, most don't. Good to see a school understanding the situation and using it to their advantage.

And Ole Miss knocks off Georgia. Wow
OLE MISS IS STILL A TENNIS POWERHOUSE! I have been calling Finn Reynolds for a while now in my posts. And in his first match back he beats a great player, Henning from Georgia. Incredible effort! I love Reynolds' serve and forehand, he has the most pop on the forehand in the team.
The freshman from Croatia is on a very hot streak! He beat Bryde, who was one of our best juniors. It is interesting to see Bryde's ITF ranking was 8 while Kranic's was 123. Yet Kranic beat him relatively easy! He is a great freshman and honestly he could already play in front of Kraljevic who seemed a bit off yesterday. Kranic and Kraljevic also looked poor in doubles on No.1, but Rebels doubles on 2 and 3 looked very solid. Fallert proved again that he is a very very experienced player by clinching the match so comfortably.
My conclusion is that the Rebels are on the rise. In the beginning of the season they did not look as good as today. I just checked the lineup against Indiana when they lost 4-2, it was: Sandkaulen, Kraljevic, Fallert, Hain, Junk, Wilson. Now, if the Rebels play in this lineup: Sandkaulen, Kranic, Kraljevic, Fallert, Reynolds, Junk, I believe the Rebels can make Sweet 16 again this year!!
Let's see how the game vs. the Volunteers go tomorrow, but I have to say I truly enjoyed the match yesterday!

Ole Miss looked great in doubles against Tennessee, but singles was a different story. Tennessee won several close first sets and carried the momentum to a 4-2 win.

Georgia had State on the verge of defeat until Henning hurt his foot. He was up 5-3, 30-0 in third set of deciding match. Tried to play on, but obviously it effected his play. Feel bad for the kid.

Tennessee looked very solid and composed on every court. Sandkaulen needs to understand he is the No.1 player and his attitude today was not pleasant to watch... He should watch old videos of Nik Scholtz, Jonas Berg, Marcel Thiemann or Jonas Luetjen and see how real champions act while playing No.1 for Ole Miss Rebels. Many Ole Miss players and fans complained about the referees. It sounds so subjective but the referees were overruling Ole Miss players mostly on far sideline calls while their excuse for not overruling Tennessee was that they cannot see the far sideline. Kraljevic was not hiding his emotions and he shouted a couple times that the referees should be changed.
None of that matters though, it did not influence the match, Tennessee was a much better team today!

I also talked with one of my friends from Starkville during the State match and apparently Henning was cruising in the 3rd set until he rolled his ankle and was badly badly hurt. He was jumping on one leg and trying to finish the match. That is a heartbreaking loss for Georgia!

this rule is total crap
look at Arizona State, they Play such a tough schedule and are under the .500, nearly beat TCU yesterday, now they are 7-10, they ve beaten Michigan, Sand Diego, Okie State, played Stanford, TCU, OSU. Texas A&M. Wake Forest....when i look on their schedule..they will not make it...6 games left plus PAC-12 Championships..but they ve UCLA/USC still on their schedule. they Need to win 6 of 8 matches ....how should this work?

Couple German vs German match-ups which was entertaining. Ole Miss will be a dangerous team rest of year but will need some help.
Tough for UGA having the match in hand until an unfortunate injury.

Six matches left for Rebels in regular season
Arkansas
Mississippi State
Arkansas Pine Bluff (DH)
LSU
Texas A&M

They need to win at least one of the SEC matches at 11-9 currently.

they will need to go 2-2 last 4 SEC matches. LSU and Arkansas are tough but winnable, UA is in Oxford, LSU is on the road I believe

I think it was interesting to see Fallert and Sandkaulen getting dominated by fellow Germans who were much worse juniors than them.
The Rebels will most likely win 1 if not 2 SEC matches by the end... I do not expect them to beat Miss State or TAMU.

USC went 2-0 last weekend with a 7-0 over Kentucky and 6-1 over Vandy. They weren't pretty wins but they were wins. Someone said a couple of weeks ago that a 12 UTR couldn't win in the SEC if you check our roster we have a guy playing 4 that has a couple of wins this year who was recruited with a 12 UTR. Sometimes the eye test matters more than UTR.

I can think of another SEC player, 4 star jr, who had a UTR under 12 at the start of his sr year in high school. Guy played high school tennis (team was state champ) and only a few USTA tourneys in his state but reached the SFs of a top summer sectional. Never played Kzoo, didnt play Nat tourneys or junior ITFs his jr or sr year. Guy played a summer tourney where he reached the finals only to lose a close match to a player high in a SEC lineup. Coach recruits player, and player goes 17-3 as freshman for regular dual season bringing UTR up to 13.5 and earning conference honors..

It's not just the eye test, it's the opportunities. Some talented players dont travel to top national or international events in high school and dont have the chance to show how good they are until college. However, players like this guy give some hints they will do well in college-they shine in a few tourneys. Luckily this guy competed well against a collegian and caught a coach's eye. Great story and one to encourage guys and gals that they dont have to quit regular high school and spend a fortune traveling to be a successful college player.
