Ordered the CES hybrid and Alpha/Irukandji to try in my TC90. Currently I have BHBR in the mains and a cheap synthetic in the crosses at 47/45. This setup is still too stiff for my liking. I'm looking for a more plush feel where I can really feel the ball settle into the strings. So now I'm worried what I've ordered is still gonna be too stiff. Which got me wondering, how would Liquid work in the mains with Irukandji cross? Or vice-versa

Got 4 more hours (total of 4.5) on my Tour Sniper hybrid as well as lower tension. I am learning to adjust to the lower tension so I think I am starting to notice the differences between Irukandji and Tour Sniper.
1) It seems like Tour Sniper has a lower launch angle? I don't feel as confident volleying with the Tour Sniper, but I also am so rusty with volleys.
2) Tour sniper does not impart as much top spin as Irukandji
3) I do find I have much more control with Tour Sniper. I am able to hit more corners and lines when trying to pass at the net.

I think that Alpha in the Mains and Irukandji cross should be great for you. Maybe string it a little lower if you want more pocketing. Alpha will give you enough control at low tension. Liquid shouldn't really be strung too lose, because it is very powerful, so seeking more pocketing with it will take away control.

45/45 or 44/45 perhaps?

That sounds about right. Both Irukandji and Tour Sniper are good on spin, but achieve it slightly differently. Irukandji relies on how slippery it is, thus generating more snapback. Tour Sniper bites a little more, while also being silky. Tour Sniper probably has the edge in terms of control, but I would go with Irukandji as a Cross in a hybrid every time. This, because I like how it feels fulfilling that role.

Has anyone tried alpha in Pure Aero ?

Would you recommend a Neon Dust hybrid or Alpha for PA ? I think alpha would be better suited to that racquet, because it is a slightly less flexible racquet, and has a great spin anyway.


What tension would you recommend for Alpha in Pure Aero?

Alpha is the worst choice for PA, in my opinion. :whistle:

Thank you. In addition to PA I have a Prince TT310. I ordered two sets of Alpha and Hybrid Dust, so I will test both sets in the stated racquets :)

Cube in 1.18mm might be to thin for my PA. Next time I will try a tour sniper, because currently is out of stock on TW Europe.

Cube is much more thicker than 1.18...

Did you try alpha yet in blade 18x20 v7? If so what tension? Are you playing with tour at 50lbs still? I gave my blade to a local shop and asked to string it 50/48 with alpha.. came back 40lbs!!! Insane...I use the tennis tension app on android that I know to be relatively accurate.. 40lbs alpha in blade v7 is way too much power.. with high humidity today had trouble keeping the ball in... I have to cut this out and will string tour sniper at another place that I know to be consistent... I like slightly lower cross so I can increase the launch angle a bit.. 51/48 sounds good? Thanks!

That sounds about right. Alpha worked fine for us at 51 or 52 in the 18x20 v7, so 51/48 or 52/49 should be fine! Enjoy!

There is no real way to know with 100% certainty but I used the app 10 times before and it measured same tension as I requested after I recieved it... or whereabouts.. why would just one frame measure massively different? Unless some new tech in these blade v7s throwing the app off... I measured my princes and yonex before with accuracy.. I guess I will also ask stringer to measure it before cutting it off.

Honestly i was definitely convinced that it was an app error. That is way too much difference.... but all the other racquets are measuring fine... If i tap on the strings I can also hear quite a lower pitch (looser) sound on the blade vs let's say gravity tour that i have (also 18x20). Again app measures that Gravity Tour is around 49lbs which is what i asked...

The app that i thought had really good reviews was TennisTension in google play store... (android app).. there could be one for apple as well but i am not sure... I have a conspiracy theory about all this tension stuff......

2 weeks ago I called the local tennis shop and asked to see when they are getting the Blades in.. they said not till September... then i went ahead and ordered online... when i got the racquets, I asked my wife to drop them off at the local shop (she works close to it) and the owner was there and giving her hard time about me not getting the racquets there.. (she did not know that they told me september date).. so i am wondering if I was sabotaged ?? :-D :-D :-D

Interesting. You know, I can't tell for sure, but I do know that some Stringers are not very thorough with their work, and if they have a clamp that slips, they would just re-pull instead of starting all over again, which really throws things off. I don't know. Hopefully you'll get a better stringing job this time!

Just tried both the tour sniper and alpha. I'm currently looking to replace my rpm blast because of my sensitive elbow, so I want something with similar control and spin qualities without the stiffness of the rpm blast. Both the tour sniper and alpha are comfortable strings. Tour sniper has less power and is more firm. alpha is softer and has a bit more pop. Between the two, I definitely prefers alpha. Despite being softer, alpha didn't seem to give up much control at all. I always struggle to find a soft poly with decent control, hence I keep going back to rpm blast, but alpha really surprised me. It hits a very consistent ball off the stringbed despite being softer and more arm friendly. I've only had one outing with it so cannot comment on durability and playability yet. But if it's decent enough, I think I'm making the switch to alpha.

I put Alpha on Pure Aero and TT310 racquets today so I'll try it out these days. I strung on a drop weight machine, Pure Aero 25kg, TT310 at 23kg. Can't wait to try it :)

I just opened the packet for the CES+Liquid neon dust hybrid and both set of strings look identical with no markings. How do I tell which is which?

Yeah I figured it out by feeling the strings but regardless, I think they should come labeled.

Played a couple of hours with alpha and over all i should say i was impressed
Lots of spin, very good feel, nice control for soft poly
Compared to yptp, Alpha is less stiff but close, better spin for sure, feel is different i like both, i would say yptp is more dead feeling and Alpha is livelier but control was there even at 22.5kg,next time i will bump up the tension a bit, i think 0.5-1kg is ok compare to yptp which is more low power poly and control is good, really liked the sound of Alpha
Cant comments about durability and tension maintence yet but over all i would say i could switch to it no doubt really liked the playability and comford
The only thing that can stop me switch to Alpha is the Price.... Yptp which i really like and play for years is a lot cheaper and thats Very important
Also i want to test it as a hybrid for winter days with velocity or When my shoulder is sore to see how behaves, i bet it will eat velocity faster due to the sharp edges..

There is no notching and breaking for me with alpha... goes dead 15+ hours and it's not like its spraying balls even then...

It depends how much spin you produce... Not all players could imagine playing 15+ hours with Alpha... Or any string... ;)

I tried alpha in pure aero and prince textreme tour 310. It turned out great in both racquets, it feels great, something i have found nowhere. Control is excellent in pure aero racquet. I think this is a great string for all types of rackets and all types of players, you just need to find the right string tension for you. I will buy a reel of Alpha.
