I tried alpha in pure aero and prince textreme tour 310. It turned out great in both racquets, it feels great, something i have found nowhere. Control is excellent in pure aero racquet. I think this is a great string for all types of rackets and all types of players, you just need to find the right string tension for you. I will buy a reel of Alpha.

Finally got to play for a while with the Alpha/Irukandji hybrid in my Angell TC90. I got it strung up at 49m/47c with some power pads. I'm really impressed by this setup, the spin it generates is incredible. Every shot had a noticable difference in the spin I was getting. Power was also not a problem as I was slightly worried about poly/poly making it too dead. The combination of power and control from this setup is something I really loved. I played for around 2 hours and have some slight notching and a little bit of string movement. But significantly less movement than the sun gut/poly I tried before. I also think this setup increased my launch angle quite a bit which was a little disappointing.

Unfortunately by the time I was done playing my wrist had started to ache and still aches some today. Strangely enough I didn't experience any elbow pain, which has been the norm for me. So I do believe this set-up lends itself to being comfortable, just stiff for this frame. I was worried that a poly/poly setup might have this result. So I will definitely not be putting the CES Neon Dust in this racquet.

However, I think this setup would be fantastic in just about any other racquet. I'll be ordering a pack of Liquid to try in the mains and one of the Gamma multis and a Technifibre. I'm also going to move some lead around and maybe string slightly looser and with the cross at a higher tension than the main. Maybe that'll help with the wrist pain and launch angle.

Liquid is a good option for you. Try not to string it too loose.

Alpha's edges aren't very sharp, because we wanted to achieve that spin consistency with it. It will therefore do just fine as a cross along with Nat. Gut in the Mains.

It's a very good option, also considering that you're looking for an overall soft set-up. You might not want to string it too loose, especially if you have a power racquet.

@Grapplesnake USA Official I’m getting ready to try stringing up Alpha as a hybrid with gut mains in my Vcore Pro 97 310. What would you recommend to start out with as far as tension goes?

What well known strings would you guys compare Alpha and Tour Sniper?
Also, would you comment your thoughts regarding the comparison?

Just dropped off my racquet to get restrung with Gosen + Irukandji at 50/54# with Irukandji in the mains. I only got about 15 hours on the Tour Sniper, but I also had the racquet strung for like 3 weeks without playing due to a sprained ankle.

My wrist was just absolutely dying playing with the strings and had to get some fresh string in. I think I'll switch to natural gut next.

I thought Irukandji was totally a good cross in the gut/poly setup...?

But Irukandji was especially designed for being a cross for gut (or sgut)....... Absolutely not a main..........
But if you are happy, that's COOL!!! :-D(y)
I can try it next time. I just worry about the Irukandji sawing through the OGSM. My OGSM is 18 gauge so not super durable.

The special shape of Irukandji is especially designed to be a cross. Do you know it?
It will not saw the mains as any other poly would do...
But of course 18g for sgut is crazy thin....
Try it.

Had a really solid hit with Tour Sniper 51/48 on blade v7 18x20. hmm...i really like the control... slightly more "dead" than alpha.. Really, really solid string.
@Grapplesnake USA Official - sorry you have done this before.. but what do you think separates Tour Sniper and Alpha... Why do I feel like they are really close to each other? I do feel Alpha is a tad more power and Tour Sniper is more control... which one would you give spin to? I am not worried about tension loss in these strings.. they are best ever. At least Alpha was and if Tour sniper is pre-streched so i don't see how it can be worse....

Very happy to hear you like them both. I believe the most defining factor that separates them is the power level, with Alpha being more powerful, and Tour Sniper being less powerful.

When it comes to the other factors, they're actually pretty close. Tour Sniper probably gives a tad more control.

Spin is really very equal. I couldn't say which one has better spin potential. If I had to give you an answer, I would say Tour Sniper because I tend to string it a little lower, which helps with pocketing and, therefore, spin. But, of course, that difference is mostly due to the tension.

Both are just very good strings.

Went back to Irukandji, and I think I like it more than Tour Sniper. I find it easier on my wrist. I think I'm ready to give natural gut mains with Irukandji cross next string job though. Not too sure on tensions. Maybe 56# mains (nat gut) and 50# crosses (Irukandji)?

Did you try alpha yet in blade 18x20 v7? If so what tension? Are you playing with tour at 50lbs still? I gave my blade to a local shop and asked to string it 50/48 with alpha.. came back 40lbs!!! Insane...I use the tennis tension app on android that I know to be relatively accurate.. 40lbs alpha in blade v7 is way too much power.. with high humidity today had trouble keeping the ball in... I have to cut this out and will string tour sniper at another place that I know to be consistent... I like slightly lower cross so I can increase the launch angle a bit.. 51/48 sounds good? Thanks!
Btw... this whole conspiracy theory was right... i cut the alpha out of the blade and gave the racquet to my usual stringer.. same app measured it 50lbs for tour sniper... so alpha was strung at 40lbs!!
i really liked the tour sniper with blade. I do have a high RHS but dont hit with much spin.. more like hitting through the ball.. this tour sniper has me really comtemplating whether tour sniper fits my game better.. in blade v7, this thing became control machine!! Next i have vcp97 HD to test..

How Tour Sniper compare to Neon Hybrid in terms of Power | Control | Spin | Tension Maintenance?

thanks a lot!

Served some doubles yesterday with the new string setup... I have never been able to serve so easily! Really liking this low tension life. Only problem is the Irukandji is slippery and moves a lot on the OGSM. I am looking forward to trying natural gut in the mains next time.

Today I tried neon hybrid in pure aero racket. A really great string in terms of spin, feel and control. Unfortunately, tension droped for 5 kilos in two days and two hours of play. Mains are very difficult to pull through. Alpha suits me a lot more, though, and tension dropped only by 2 kilos in 10 hours of play. Alpha is definitely the best string I've tried.

@Grapplesnake USA Official in order to help me choose my tensions, can you tell me what are the stiffness numbers for neon dust and Irukandji?

Hello! Sorry, but we don't have hard numbers available. These are, however, our strings from softest to firmest. Hope it helps.

Liquid (softest) - Irukandji - Liquid Neon Dust - Alpha - Cube - Tour Sniper - Excellent Purple - CES Neon Dust - Cube Extra Sharp (firmest)

Tour Sniper has similar power to the neon hybrid, probably a little less. Control, they are also close, with Tour Sniper being more consistent in its launch. Neon hybrid will give you more spin, and Tour Sniper has better tension maintenance in my opinion. Hope it helps!

Any string offering that is similar to RS Lyon 1.25mm? I like the control, durability and tension maintenance and longevity and spin and volley of that string which is my go to string on full bed 48/51lbs setup or w/ multi on main 54/51lbs. I hit in between spin and flat which is my variety on my shots depending if I want to go offensive or defensive also I'm aggresive all around player that looks to end the point if possible whether back in the baseline or in the net. I'm using PAT 2016 and will be switching to Angell TC100 soon.

Tour sniper... in feel and control and power similar to rs lyon...tension stability and durability will be bery high..comfort is better...does not really lose tension or notch or break... longevity as in "before it starts going dead" is probably 8 hours or so...still playable but probably 12-15 hours u want to restring...in my experience...

I agree with this. But I would also buy some Irukandji to test as a hybrid. I think people here have said Tour Sniper is better as a full bed versus Irukandji which is designed as a hybrid cross.

Thank you, how about the control? I want a predictable ball coming from racket depending on my strokes and also if this string is not sensitive to incoming ball specially on volleys?

When I tested Tour Sniper back in April of this year, it was still known as the "Prototype" string. I found it to be a very control-oriented string with low power, medium-low launch angle, slightly above average spin capability, and minimal sensitivity to incoming spin. It was very linear in its response, and I found it to be a good string for doubles as the control on volleys was excellent.

I found my original post on this string, here:

Just received a CES/liquid set, in the package there is no information to help differentiate the two strings. Anyone can help?

It's what I thought. It's just that the square one is supposed to be thinner gauge but it feels thicker than the other. Might be because of the shape.

I think that Grapplesnake measures their square string at its smallest dimension - from one flat side to the other flat side. Volkl, on the other hand, I believe measures their square string from edge tip to edge tip. I did have some problems with grommet hole space for both Cube and CES, so the second time I strung those, I took extra care to make sure there wasn't a twist in the main string used for a tie-off as it came through the frame.

Figured I'd update on the Alpha/Irukandji and CES Neon Dust. Alpha snapped after 3 hitting sessions. Definitely enjoyed the performance of the set-up but it bothered my wrist a bit. I think this would be fantastic in something like the Clash or Gravity line. I want to order a TC100 soon and this setup might pair nicely in that frame. The best playability for me came about 20 minutes before it snapped, when it really softened up and gave me that lower launch I like. I might try this setup again in the TC90 stung down to the low 40s/high 30s.

I put the CES Neon Dust in my modified Pure Drive Roddick. It played like any other full bed of shaped poly that I've used but I liked it better than Hyper G and Ultra cable for whatever reason. I found it to be low powered and provided some good control, spin was great. I actually found the Alpha/Irukandji to provide much more spin, feedback, and comfort than the CES Neon Dust. I'll probably try Alph/Irukandji in this racquet or one of my Dunlop 300 Aerogels.

Really interested in trying a Liquid/Irukandji hybrid. I also think that Alpha would pair nicely with a multi cross and I want to try Head Rip Control in the mains with Irukandji cross.

Excited to see whats next from Grapplesnake; don't know if a multi is in the future but something shaped to be in the mains with Irukandji or Excellent Purple cross would be amazing. Would also love to see a "rough" Alpha that might make a great cross string...

I'm going to try Irukandji in the crosses with Tour Sniper in the mains. I really like the Tour Sniper as a full bed for its tension maintenance and I find if very predictable but a tiny tiny bit lacking on spin. Hence the reason for trying Irukandji which should provide ample sliding effect as a cross. It might soften it up a bit and allow me to slightly increase the tension of the Tour Sniper in the mains. I string my own racquets and like to experiment.

You, as a string manufacturer, should have the string stiffness available to consumers. I really do not understand how a string manufacturer can sell their products with supposedly no knowledge of what string stiffness their strings have. Giving us a list of string stiffness from low to high gives us no reference to what it compares to, as far as stiffness numbers go. I realize the string composition, etc., also plays a factor in how a string plays. However, knowing the string stiffness is, to me, is a key piece of information before I put my hard earned money out to buy and try out. Just my 2 cents about string manufacturers.

Well, I think after close to 20 hours, my strings are toast. I don't have very much control with my racket anymore. I think if someone was more skilled, they could play through with it, but I just don't hit with enough top spin to keep the ball in.

Time to go natural gut! Planning 56 mains w/ 52# Irukandji in the cross.
Let me know how this setup treats you vs other gut/poly hybrids. I've got a set of Irukandji and Klip I'm tempted to use vs YPTP.
