Whoa you all writng off Fedr

Bold prediction Fedr will beat Djokovic

I could see it happening. I mean remember 2015, most people had Djokovic as the overwhelming favorite in their RR match and Fed beat him in straight sets. Of course, Djokovic went on to win the rematch a few days later when they met each other in the final, but still, Fed is more than capable of turning in a really good performance and upsetting Novak. Both guys will leave it all out there for sure, considering that the winner moves on and the loser goes home, not to mention there's nothing else to worry about for the next 8 weeks.

50/50 based on what? i mean i wouldn't say fed has no chance ofcourse but nothing i've seen over the last two matches indicates fed is in any shape or form to beat novak, even a subpar novak. i will say i suppose atleast with bo3 the agony wont drag on for hours.

I don't see one player completely dominating the other in this one.

Given what I've seen thus far, Djoker in straights. Fed will have to slice and dice like an absolute crazy person, since even a redlining Thiem found a sliding rubbery nuisance of a wall on the end of his cannons a lot of the time. Fed ain't hitting through that.

completely agree. And add the fact that nole was just pushing back and wasn’t even going for his shots. He didn’t even hit hard at all. Imagine if nole decides to pull the trigger. Then it’s over.

Fedr is disappointed at his fans right now you all have no confidence in your idol

Welcome to handwringerer HQ. He's tired. They all are. We all are. The year was over after USO. Mad Lad has made a bit of a statement since but this is all ankle-biter stuff with desperados Timmy, Ziraffe and ********* desperate not to be forgotten, not realising they already were. And it's not like the draws really matter for those guys anyway. They'll still be DFing and UEing sets to randoms and spending just as much time on court seeded 5 or 15 or 55.

Djokodal split the majors this year. They're biggest threat was the old fraud at WB, lol.

So true....

Djokovic is the favorite here without a doubt. Fed has a small chance as long as he hits his spots on 1st serves, doesn't make stupid approaches and is aggressive off the ground and the return. I hope he raises his level here. I'd pick Djokovic in two tight sets if I were a betting man. Fed could steal one. Let's hope he steals the whole thing ;)

Djokovic owns Federer in tie breaks because he just keeps the ball in play and waits for Federer to self destruct with the unforced error. Djokovic’s whole game is all about low risk percentage play and he’s got the defence to back it up.

the sad thing is that federer has the level to compete with and beat djok, but he is so insecure against djokovic in the big moments.

djokovic should win this match handily if he brings his A game.

Federer hasn't beaten Djokovic in almost 5 years. He has no chance.
He always has a chance, as long as he's around. Especially when it's BO3. Whether he still really believes he can do it, or would he collapse again under pressure, that's another question.

Indeed. If 'sliding rubbery nuisance of a wall' is at the forefront of my descriptive intuition, colour me unenthused. Long may proactivity overcome reactivity.

Can't believe there's no thread for Thiem v Berrettini :(

First match I get to watch and there's no thread for the two hotties.

You never know with Novak. This should be an easy match for him, but this is Federer. Plus, Djokovic can be a head case, and his loss against Thiem might mess with his head. Hoping his yoga/Buddhist guru is there! Not, not the nutso Spaniard!

The thing is Novak can mess up against non-Fedal players, but against Fedal he almost never drops focus.

He will play his best and win because it's Fed. It is as simple as that.

Talk about a one-sided crowd later tonight. They will ALL be rooting for Fed. Djokovic will find a way to feed off that and take the W. Hoping for a Fed resurgence tonight, however... VAMOS FED!!!

Worse players than Fed have beaten Djokovic this year. So it's any given day really. I mean Djokovic doesn't have many bad days, but when he does, you see upsets like Sam Querrey, Jiri Vesely, Marco Ceccinato, Dominic Thiem, Denis Istomin, etc.

Exactly! It's pathetic. Roger Federer can beat Novak Djokovic. It's not like out of the world.

I have faith in Roger Federer!

Roger Federer in two or three sets! Maestro for the win

Normally I would agree. Fed deffo had the game to beat Djokovic. However, he doesn't seem to be able to produce confident, consistent tennis anymore.
