Diadora Blushield Torneo Official Thread

Well, a lot of us have been around posting since the Blueshield 5, and it’s been a hell of a run. Diadora needs to fix the durability issues in the upper on the B.Icon, and the apparent wear on the outsole of the Torneo. These are great shoes with major issues apparently, although I haven’t had the outsole durability issues with the Torneo that @FloridaAG has. I can still tell it ain’t the BS5 though durability wise.

To be fair, I play a lot, do not rotate shoes, play only on hard courts and generally am very tough on my shoes due to my movement.

Am probably going to give the Head Revolts a shot. Unless I see great deals on Diadoras when I am in Italy in a couple weeks

I love these Torneos but agree with the durability. The upper in the toe box along the outside, start peeling off in week 2 of play. Otherwise, the shoe is solid.

I love these shoes. My sole durability issues are not that far off from the 5s. I am incredibly hard on shoes. If they still had warranty would buy again without thinking about it.

Guess I have to try Head Revolt or Nike Cage. Gonna hit the shop soon and see what's in stick and what fits hopefully

So in the end I've decided to pull the trigger on these. I approached the Blushield 5's three times and I really wanted them to work for me, but the shape was just not for my feet. The shape of the toe box was too angled and my toes suffered immediately. That's why I was reluctant about the Torneos, because they seemed to be an upgrade with only slight changes.

I am pleasantly surprised, however. The toe box is definitely more straight, it does not bother my toes. Compared to Lotto Raptors (I've been playing in them for a year now, my go-to shoe), it is similar, maybe only slightly narrower (the outsole in the Torneos is around 4 milimeters narrower in the forefoot), but still very roomy and comfortable.

Length wise, 11 US in Raptors and in Torneos seem just the same. I've measured the insoles and they are the same length. The Raptors in general are slightly longer, mainly because of the outside foam at the heel.

Forefoot cushioning is more plush and detectable in the Torneos than in the Raptors.

The only thing that sometimes bothers me in the Raptors is the ankle collar, very stiff and high. No such problem in the Diadoras. Slightly lower and more comfortable, especially in the Achilles tendon area. Definite heel slippage however with standard lacing. Easily fixable with the runner's loop.

And regarding the weight: Raptors 450g, Torneos 430g.

So I am quite excited, for now I will wear them around the house, but I think I'll take them to the court too. I hope they will make me run like Fokina.

Can you two highly distinguished gentlemen of great sophistication and culture please compare the toe width of the Fly 3 vs the Torneos?

Also (specifically for inno since I already asked curt before) any comments on heel slippage from the torneo's wide opening?

This could be the sensation of the heel slipping "out of" the shoe OR the heel slipping "side to side inside" the shoe, either one qualifies.

Much thanks

I finally went back and was able to try on the Fly 3.

THEY ARE NOT FOR WIDE FEET!

The uni-tongue made it even harder just to get into the shoe itself. In factory insoles, the shoe felt super snug all around epecially in the mid and forefoot area. The customer service rep even saw me walking around in them with all the laces loose and said "It's a no, huh?" I said "Maybe if I try my insoles..." and she immediately stopped me and told me others said the same thing and that it's the attached tongue. She said I was already wearing the wider Diadoras and I can pick them up in another color if I wanted her to bring them out.

Totally agree. For me they are also too soft and not stable enough. Although in far better condition that my Torneos or the last Speed 5s I had, I am wearing the others until I decide on a new shoe in the next couple weeks hopefully

Sad to report that I've noticed a small tear in my beloved Torneos . They are my everyday casual shoe and I've worn them for tennis about 15 times (3 were high level match play).

Has anyone had the chance to try on multiple colorways yet? In the newest review one customer said the following

Great Shoe - Replacement for Gel ResolutionI have worn the ASIC Gel Resolution shoe starting with version 5. Unfortunately, the Gel Resolution 8's are horrible and I had to find another shoe. I tried Nike, New Balance and Babolat models without finding something that worked for me. The Diadora Speed Blushield Torneo is outstanding. Very comfortable with excellent stability. It is now my go to shoe. One warning - the sizing of the shoe is inconsistent. I bought an 11.5 in the white/black/red color and it fit absolutely perfect. I bought an 11.5 in the white/silver and it was too small. A side by side comparison of the shoes revealed that they were different sizes. The white/silver was a half size smaller than the white/black/red. I am going up a half size on the white/silver and that should solve the problem.

Same thing happened to my pair (white/grey) and I’m not a competitive player. They have durability issues. My raptors are 2 month older and are as solid as new (playtime are almost the same on both pairs).

My left shoe always wears more than the right for some reason
You are more likely to be planted when hitting a BH vs with FHs which can be hit OTR. The stopping probably does more damage to the shoe than running so that's why the left shoe dies sooner: from the stopping.

Or I could be full of **** and that actually has nothing to do with it. Not sure.

I wanted to try these but luckily the Gr8's came back in stock. Glad I didn't pull the trigger as these don't have an outsole warranty and don't seem all that durable in general.

I ended up buying a second pair for casual. My originals are beat tf up after using them for competitive play at the local pickup spots.

I was slipping and sliding in my Torneos while attempting to play singles the other day. I thought it was a dirty, dusty, worn out court. It ended up being i finally burned through the outsoles.

Just like @FloridaAG, I’ve got SFX3s next in line.
