Yea Your right. the vp11 will not feel better lockdown wise though. I tried them and they ere better in my mind but farther away from the vp1. You should give them a try atleats though but as much as I'm a Nike guy, there are always Asics speed ff shoes Aswell.

Im really eager though for the vapor pro 3 lol. I wonder what they ill fix.
Do you know when the vapor pro 3's may be released? Only limited colourways (clay version) remaining online with Nike (Australia) -could this be because they are making room for the vapor pro 3's....or more getting ready of Roland Garros colourways to be released??

I agree with this from the lock down perspective. I tried the Vp 11. The cushioning and stability were great. But I felt the lockdown suffered, and I just couldn't adapt to the very bottom heavy feel. I just grabbed a pair of the Vp2 clay, and I'll be exccited to take them out. Just walking around in them, they feel a better lockdown and just the right amount of cushioning without feeling like a ski boot.

The vapor pro 2 has more, "upper" going un. there is just more material which works on some peoples favor and others not so much. Some want the better lockdown which is me, but others want the ability to stretch to adapt to a fight that's possibly wider or weirdly shaped.

I still have a pair of the 9.5s, still my gold standard. Great heel cup, and lock down on the upper.

I really hope the 3s come out soon and more importantly are a good shoe like the 1. Trying to find new pairs of the 1s on secondary market at a decent price is a hassle.

considering how unpopular this opinion is, it is doubtful that nike will even go back to something like the 1s without some drastic alterations

I feel you though. I liked the React NXTs but it did very poorly in the rest of the market.

Considering a lot of pros still wear them, I still see a lot of rec players wearing them and resellers trying to jack the price on them - I think there's a demand for it. I think what makes it doubtful is how Nike spliced off the Vapor line now into 2 different models that are comprised.

The React NXT had a successor with the Zoom NXT. I'm not sure if there will be a follow in that line as often with at Nike they plan these shoes years in advanced as they already had the Zoom NXT planned as the React NXT released, the poor market for those might have killed that line.

First fallacy is thinking that this is "a lot". For pros, something like the 9.5 would be considered "a lot". The VP1 is a joke compared to that and can hardly be considered "a lot"

Secondly, the amount of non-professionals wearing the VP1 pales in comparison to other models like the Gel Resolutions.

Third, just because resellers jack up the price on them hardly means it can be profitable for Nike. This is a business first and foremost. You can also find old Vapor 9.5s for jacked up prices on the reseller market as well yet when Nike brought those back, they didn't sell particularly fast or anything.

Fourth, the Zoom NXT was not a successor to the React NXT. That was supposed to be the successor to the Zoom GP Turbo. Totally different cushioning.

I don't know how you can make four mistakes in one post but the sooner that you come to terms with the fact that you are in the minority when it comes to the VP1, the less devastating the wait will be. You can trick your mind with wishful thinking and false hope any way you want, but the reality is that the market for the VP1 is ridiculously small. It doesn't matter how much resellers list them for, but the overall market size is too small to warrant any kind of return of the VP1. I hope you are not waiting for some kind of comeback because such a wait will only result in disappointment for you.

how did you ever get that I was somehow "mad" over anything?

I pointed out the flaws in the thought process which you used to come to your conclusions, and then laid out how it actually is. Saves yourself the disappointment in the end. Get over yourself there. Stating facts doesn't mean anyone is mad (or happy or sad or anything for that matter).

Not sure if this has been asked before, but has anyone had experience moving from Vapor X to Vapor pro 2 in terms of sizing? Vapor pro 2 initially at least seems 'long', however playability wise it seems totally fine. Maybe just the visual 'look' of it, however when comapred side by side to same size Vapor X, the vapor pro 2 does appear a bit longer to my eyes. Did you guys have to go a half size down? Thoughts? TIA

I would recommend just go same size as is.

I wore Vapor X and Vapor pro 1 size 10 previously and now wearing Vapor pro 2 size 10.
there is almost have no size difference.

Hi @shinminsoo86 Thanks for your thoughts. I too did try on the same size on, it was just visually when looking down at my feet that it seemed 'long'. Performance wise I didn't see or feel any difference of the equivalent size, but I am going to try on a half size down to see how this is. Thanks mate.

Very much so. I've been in the same boat. For me it's just chewing through the outsole that's a problem. Even my oldest pair upper looks and feels fine. I just starting using my last fresh pair. It is annoying to see just how many good pairs there are out there but marked up a lot. I won't pay it either. The VP1 fits my foot so well I don't even need to lace them crazy tight. Haven't found another shoe that even comes halfway close to that level of fit. If a VP3 doesn't come out soon enough I'll probably give the Vapor 11 a shot.

I had issues with the VP2 but never even thought to go down a 1/2 size and see how they feel. I might have to give this another look. My problem was that the upper felt more roomy than the VP1 and I had a hard keeping the shoe tight and felt like I was quickly developing blisters. Length felt just right though so really not sure if that's the problem or not. I think it could be worth at least trying one on in store should it come down to having to go that route.

I have my fingers crossed that I can keep finding old VP1 shoes to hold me over until Nike has a VP3.

It's interesting- Nike brings out new shoes every 2-3 years. Just as I was happily using the Vapor X's for a few years, I now have to try on different new models, like the Vapor 11 and Vapor Pro 2, also tried the GP's, Court Lites and another one, to find a model that suits me, and also a size that suits best. This all takes time and testing, but I guess this is how the world is!

ive long considered this as a way to try the VP2, but I still have a massive supply of VP1 - so for that reason i will wait

but at first glance - the more simple herringbone seems like a logical all-surface option

I struck up a conversation with a guy who was wearing them (HC version) at a local restaurant. He actually complained about their clay performance. I think Nike have really tried to optimize each sole this time around

I got lucky. I clicked with the Vapor Cage4 and GP Turbo...VC4 were intro'd in 2019, GP in 2020 and still going strong.

What was your goto before the GP and Cage series anyway?

Vapor 9.5, then Cage 2 (my favorites). Those 2s I really miss. They were durable but the ventilation was magnifique. Was my favorite shoe and it took me a long time and a lot of money to find a new go-to.

I don't slide, and I jump a lot off/on that right leg when hitting open FHs and donkey BHs. So the Vapor 9.5 just killed my right foot/ankle after a long match

When Nike ended the production Vapor Pro I stocked a few (clay and HC)
I bought also one pair of Vapor Pro 2 for HC and Clay and I tried them. I didn´t like to much the first impression from the HC version but strangely I really liked the clay version.

Last week the vapor pro 2 clay were already ruined and I picked up one of the stocked vapor pro and it's funny that now I prefer the Vapor pro 2 for clay... I feel lighter with the vapor pro but overall I prefer playing with the vapor pro 2 (stability, cushion, changing direction, ankle protection)

Same, I was skeptical about vapor pro 2 and went with 2 more vapor pro 1 models then gave it a try. Next thing you know its my go to. just like the shoe for some reason. I know I sound weird for this but I just prefer zoom air in forefoot, and sense I'm always on my toes and have a really aggressive style, I get greater stability from hat plastic half peace on side and also am able to constantly take full advantage of the zoom air. So it's my kind of shoe for sure, just wish the old vapor pro 1 outsole that integrated the shank was still there but that's all. Feels a little to flexible without shank. When they introduce vapor pro 3 and vapor 11 I hope they bring back react foam. either that or a gosh darn shank.

So did everyone stay true to size for their Vapor Pro 2's? Be very appreciative of your take on them size wise.

VP2 feels slightly roomier than Vapor X in toe box at least initially, but half a size down (at least initially) felt definately to small as toes pressing against end of shoe too much.

I have the same size at both (VP / VP2) - works quite well for me

guys is it just be or does this shoe have a different toe guard and changed over time for more durability just like vapor 11. look at this early look and look at how the drag guard cuts off around pinkie.

Love the vapor pro 2s so much that after mine finally started developing a hole I just bought another pair. I know not everyone loves them, but they work for me!
same! The more and more I used them the more I got used to them. Not everyone sinches down the shoe as tight as me for every row of eyelids, but by doing that to the point where it was bending in on itself, I felt super locked in, and more glove like sucked in than vapor pro-1. And from there it wrapped around my foot better and better by use and became my staple for shoe choice. Excited for vapor pro 3, still love the vapor pro 1 and hope they make a compromise between what worked for both versions.

I would love a VP1 outsole and midsole with a more supportive upper. I’d also love if they brought back the runners’ knot holes, so much heel slippage with my VP2 on clay.
If I designed the vapor pro 2, keeping in mind what Nike was trying to go for, I would have kept the following and not changed from vapor pro 1:
-outsole (new one does not achieve anything but does not hurt. It does the same sliding and grip affect as original and just looks different. The other one was better sense it had a shank and less weight with cut out of rubber.)
-material (besides the heel counter material, I would have changed the thicker weave, and kept fly weave for breathability and weight)
-lacing system (although I do like the lacing system on vapor pro 2, I feel it would have been better to keep original and just update the Toung as they did with more poof.)

Lastly, something i would have added to the vapor pro 2 was the addition of reactx, zoom x foam or something with better energy return. I like the air zoom but it seems there holding back with technology like this, (which is still awesome) But they just have soooo much more to offer and just don't for tennis. This foam in the vapor line in general except for earlier days of lunar Lon sucks.

Finally grabbed a clay pair of the 2s — and have to say, completely different shoe compared to its bigger brother. The 11 is heavy, sluggish, hot, not responsive, and the 2s beat them in all categories. It's a fine shoe, so far my only cons are that there's a lot of wiggle room near the ankle, and the backside of my foot feels a little disconnected from the ground. Need more miles on it, but so far 2>>>NXT>11.

This is the most popular shoe in college tennis among D1 players . why is that ? is it just cause this is the model they get from the Nike ? i hardly ever see Vapor 11 among college players,, only the vapor pro 2

Based on my trying both models, I would go with the vapor pro 2 aswell. Its basically the same shoe but with a lighter built. Also for me personally, I do not need the god awful extra weight going around the heel. I last on my forefoot first so the half chasey the vapor pro 2 has is right where most players need it without the extra weight. Also for me, there is more material on the uppers that confound into a stronger lockdown, especially for quicker movers.

is this shoe really as good as TW saids ??
Um, I mean I like the shoe. I still use it. I miss the weight reduction the 1 had, and the shape was unbeatable, these are alittle more bulky but still lighter than vapor 11 and zoom air in forefoot. So i still use them. If they just changed the foam in the vapor pro 1, and put vapor pro 2 uppers, I would buy right away. the test was to much. Would rather have react foam or something responsive.

I absolutely love the latest colors for the vapor pro 2 but I ended up just buying an old colorway because I don't think I'll be able to find socks that match either the new wolf grey or the sand drift. I know it's a dumb reason not to buy it, but what can I say?
