Likewise. They've done so much for the sport and yet they get spat on on their way out. People projecting their insecurities. And then they whine about tennis having no competitors.I don't really get why people take pleasure in seeing 38 year old greats lose (same goes for the other Big 4 for the avoidance of doubt). I kind of get it if they're much younger and playing peak tennis, but that's about it
These guys have given it their all over a 20-year career, they're at the tail end, coming off career-threatening injuries. Just seeing them compete is something special.
That return game at 4-5 in the first was keyNadal looked really good at 5-5 then lost 9 out of the last 10 games
7-2 against Djoko, Nadal and Murray since January 2023.
2nd set was a car crash and will be interesting to hear why, was that deliberate to ease off or did he feel something.Nadal 11 winners 42 unforced errors, yikes
Unforced errors was his biggest weakness in the match by a mile.Horrible match from Nadal looking at the stats. 11 W, 42 UE.
Rafa is not in his desirable schedule. He and his team was expecting him to be reaching close to his best possible level by this time at the start of year in Brisbane.Rafa is clearly on schedule no question. Now he has to build fitness and consistency
7-2 against Djoko, Nadal and Murray since January 2023.
Makes Nadal look worse than he actually has he his moments in the first.Horrible match from Nadal looking at the stats. 11 W, 42 UE.
He only decided Barcelona like 2 days ago lol.Rafa is not in his desirable schedule. He and his team was expecting him to be reaching close to his best possible level by this time at the start of year in Brisbane.
He needs to fix few things and it's not easy to do that.
So somebody has done to Nadal what Nadal had been doing to everyone else for 2 decades.Unforced errors was his biggest weakness in the match by a mile.
It's clay.I don't think anyone with a realistic outlook expected Rafa to win this match. It was a good warmup, testing his current abilities and a very, very decent first set by Rafa. The only way is up from here.
2nd set was a car crash and will be interesting to hear why, was that deliberate to ease off or did he feel something.
Why are we including Murray
That's very unrealistic and unreasonable. I don't know why on god's green earth he played Brisbane. Should have directly started playing post AO.Rafa is not in his desirable schedule. He and his team was expecting him to be reaching close to his best possible level by this time at the start of year in Brisbane.
He needs to fix few things and it's not easy to do that.
Because Murray is an ATG.
Why are we including Murray
We've learnt to expect more from Nadal on clay than just moments.Makes Nadal look worse than he actually has he his moments in the first.
Not comparing to when he was young of course looks bad compared to just talking about the match progression in this match. We've learnt to expect more from Nadal on clay than just moments.
Nadal made a lot of UEs from balls he didn’t even have to move to reach. it’s not like he only lost hard to get balls that required a lot of movement.2nd set was a car crash and will be interesting to hear why, was that deliberate to ease off or did he feel something.
No he wont, but he may say he had a niggle, thats what im waiting to hear. If he says he feels good and no pain, this is all positive .I don't think you will ever hear Nadal say he deliberately held back, even if he was trying to manage himself a bit.
I'd replace beef with inflate.1. It beefs up the stats for ADM a bit
2. Let's be honest, in the "if, if, if" universe of hypotheticals Murray pre-surgery would have also annihilated the dude on most surfaces
That's forced errors. Unforced errors you do yourself. So somebody has done to Nadal what Nadal had been doing to everyone else for 2 decades.
Yes, but after such a long break, what can one expect... He played better than I expected..It's clay.
Nadal won 14 RGs, and De Minaur is pretty much a nothingburger player on the surface.
He should have ripped his shirt and shouted "who's the king of clay now"De Minaur almost looks ashamed of beating Rafa, good for him for respecting the legend.
On BH side yes. Which is why i wonder if he felt somethingNadal made a lot of UEs from balls he didn’t even have to move to reach. it’s not like he only lost hard to get balls that required a lot of movement.
Not just BH. But maybe he did feel something. Only the team knows thatOn BH side yes. Which is why i wonder if he felt something
To me there will always be a fine line between forced and unforced errors. Is an error extracted from insane defense unforced or forced? Hard to tell. That's forced errors. Unforced errors you do yourself.
To be honest he kind of had that worried look on his face instead of the usual game face that he has.Not just BH. But maybe he did feel something. Only the team knows that
No he wont, but he may say he had a niggle, thats what im waiting to hear. If he says he feels good and no pain, this is all positive .
We were waiting for you! Somehow the party just isn’t the same when you aren’t aroundfield... catching up...... happens
FH looked pretty good cross court and inside out, although DTLFH was way off. The BH and drop off in serve speed though is a concern for me as was De Minaur's body language at the end as he looked like an opponent who realised his opponent did something. Not just BH. But maybe he did feel something. Only the team knows that
Lets see lol. Time will tell, until then stay pressed. It's very positive that he feels good and has no pain. He's just old and washed
Yeah, he should win every tournament he plays after almost not playing for 2 years and a half. Give me a break. It's very positive that he feels good and has no pain. He's just old and washed
Not even closeBecause Murray is an ATG.
There can be a fine line. Forced errors are definitely caused by the opponent forcing pressure on you into making a mistake, while unforced errors are when the player makes an unexpected error. To me there will always be a fine line between forced and unforced errors. Is an error extracted from insane defense unforced or forced? Hard to tell.
I don't think anyone with a realistic outlook expected Rafa to win this match. It was a good warmup, testing his current abilities and a very, very decent first set by Rafa. The only way is up from here.
When he hit the FH well you could see traces of the Nadal beast. But I also noticed too many UEs from the FH, particularly from balls that landed close to his feet. and other FHs were slower than usual, giving AdM time to reach them, which would not have happened with prior versions of Rafa.FH looked pretty good cross court and inside out, although DTLFH was way off. The BH and drop off in serve speed though is a concern for me as was De Minaur's body language at the end as he looked like an opponent who realised his opponent did something.
Be interesting to see what happens next.
Actually it was very positive just some bad luck. That's very unrealistic and unreasonable. I don't know why on god's green earth he played Brisbane. Should have directly started playing post AO.
Now of course It's positive that he played the event and he is on right track could have been worse too. But i'm saying that his team and he was not expecting to not play any tournaments after Brisbane. So againt it was setback. Don't think he played better than Brisbane now but he had countless issues. He only decided Barcelona like 2 days ago lol.
To me there will always be a fine line between forced and unforced errors. Is an error extracted from insane defense unforced or forced? Hard to tell.
