The feeling where there are twice as many posts here than in the Djokovic-Ferrer match.

And this match is played tomorrow while Djokovic is up 2 sets against Ferrer lol.

U ask some British guys, obviously they predict Murray to win.If u ask some Swiss journalists it will be the other way around.

Commentators would usually suspend their bias when making objective predictions.

So that means even if they're all Murray fans (which they're not) they would still say who they realistically though would win irrelevant of who they support.

V. Wade is a Fed fan btw.

Murray in 3 or 4, the guy would've had a harder time talking a walk in Albert Park than reaching the SF in this years Australian Open.

I think the first set may mean everything tonight. If murray takes it i wonder if fed checks out knowing that if he puts in another 5 setter that he wont have enough for nole in the tank. But if he can take him in 3 tight sets then the recovery is realistic.

I agree with joeri888 - Federer has had a great AO. I have been throughly entertained by his play and his matches. And despite whatever happens tomorrow, he has had a good run and managed to navigate through a pretty tricky draw to get to semis.

They said something similar before Wimbledon 2012 final.

Never said otherwise. You're the one whining about age and tiredness. I think he's perfectly fine.

I never whined, as you incessantly do about Federer's "cupcake" draws. I simply said I hoped Federer would recover and they would have a good match. Of course, you took issue with the word "recover" in that context as one is wont to do when ignoring realities.

Whoever wins tomorrow is going to have the dubious task of facing a rampant Djoko who just crushed poor Dahveed yet again. He will have had a nice, relaxing 3 day rest come Sunday's final, one more than his opponent and especially if said opponent had to play a bruiser to get through.

When he's in this mood, I cant' see either Fed or Andy stopping him somehow!

If God-mode Fed turns up after an energizing session at the CVAC Egg, then Fed in 3 or 4 max. But mostly Murray in 3 or 4. I want the next gen to win more GS titles! It will be good for mens tennis.

I really don't consider Murray to be a "next gen" or "young gun" anymore. I have heard about this guy so much since 2006.

Or by next gen, you mean't Dimitrov, Raonic, and Tomic?

Picked Fed in 4, but not with much conviction. And of the 6 choices are equally likely. Fed could get worked if his level isn't high; Murray could lose if he can't raise his level after the easy matches.

Whoever wins the 1st set will win.

I love how Fed told Jim Courier "don't worry I'll be fine..." with a smile on his face when Jim asked how he will be manage to be ready for the semis. I can't wait for Murray to get his ass kicked once more in a slam by Roger :)

All had easy draws except Fed and he is ready to maul

Murray had a cakewalk of a tournament...its a crime...he faced no one, once he sees what Fed has in store the first two sets will be gone...he will eeek out the third then succumb to greatness in the 4th.

Murray is calm and confident. And he is the one fresher. Federer will need to bring up his A game + desire.

Yes, but Murray only played second zone players until now. Fed has played amazing tennis and has been pushed in the tournament already. Hard wake up for Murray tomorrow...

Either for him or you - will be interesting to see which.

I think Fed will try and literally sweep the first set asap before the occasion actually hit Murray. Fed knows that he needs to be the frontrunner in the match. It's one of the reasons that I think he prevailed against Tsonga without too much pressure in the 5th, because he was on the front foot during the whole match: won the 1st set, won the 3rd and serving first in the 5th.

Indulge me - how might a player "literally sweep" a first set? Will he be using a broom between points or something?

When you said 'literally', you literally meant the opposite, didn't you.

Apologies for the grammar fascism but the mis-use of the word literally gets right on my breasts - figuratively speaking of course ;)

Not to be a Goebbels to your Himmler, but sweep has numerous meanings. In sport, one meaning(more of an American usage) is to blank your opponent. In this context, a sweep would presumably mean a 6-0 first set.

Murray has had an easy draw but so did Fed. But Tsonga pushed him to the brink while Murray cruised.

I predict a fairly comfortable victory for Murray in four sets.

I'm a huge Murray fan, but something just doesn't sit well in my head that Murray will be able to pull off the win tomorrow.

Here's two examples why...

World Tour Finals 2012: Everyone expected a Murray win, RF was playing/serving like junk. Murray started off SUPER quick, he threw the kitchen sink at Federer. But in the process of playing so well, it released the inner GOAT Federer which made Federer SUPERBLY well. (Federer playing his best >>>>>> rattled Murray attempting to play his best e.g when he gets broken back)

The same thing, IMO, happened at Wimbledon. A quick starting Murray just forced the best out of Federer.

I just feel, deep down, that Murray's just going to trigger something in Federer to play at a totally new level that will leave Murray packing.

So, I shall say with all due respect to Murray...it's Federer in 4.

Sweep in the context you describe is still being used figuratively/metaphorically i.e. to mean something else, not what is literally stated (unless in american English, the verb 'to sweep' can also be defined as winning a tennis set 6-0 ;) ). Even if 'to sweep' did mean win a set 6-0 the use of 'literally' is still completely superfluous.

The word 'literally' should only be used if there may be an element of doubt in the reader's/listener's mind i.e. to qualify that one isn't writing/speaking figuratively.

Again, apologies for the grammar fascism.
