Gotta beat Notre Dame or Florida State. I am not confident but these Canes have surprised. Hope Coach Rincon can get them motivated after the thrashings they have endured the last couple of weeks.

I went to the match versus Florida on Sunday and I was impressed by the Ole Miss international team, particularly #1 and #2. The lefty that plays #2 has a massive forehand.

He would do even better but does not think enough on the court, the other lefty that plays #3 also has all the shots but has been in a major slump the last 2 months, then the big Swede @ #4 has been playing great.

Ole Miss needs to win 2 matches at SEC to even sniff at getting into tournament, but the SCarolina loss is bad timing as was the Bama loss.

Really surprising to see Michigan has fallen off so far. They used to be automatic in. Not sure what is going on with that program.

a lot has gone wrong for them...every game they lost...was close..(only vs UGA and maybe UK / Baylor was clear games)
they lost doubles..vs teams like bama/auburn/Lsu and never came back in singles...with the doubles they would ve won at least 2 of this 3
and in other matches they took the doubles and played bad in singles, like vs MSU

Purdue needs to avoid losing to Indiana today to keep themselves in the safe zone.

Big match between VCU and VT today for two teams squarely on the bubble.

On a similar note it looks like Carlos Lopez-Villa (ODU) is going to miss out on making the singles draw. Tough for a guy who is 18-1 on the dual match season and also won a Fall Regional and made last 16 of the National Indoors. Further proof I suppose of how the formula the ITA use rewards 'quality' wins much more than it punishes losses.

And look who's right behind him. Tsvetan Mihov. A guy who was barely winning games for most of the season.

ITA does need to slightly tweak its rankings formula I think.

Not enough talent. No one wants to go there because it's too cold and you seldom play outside.

LOL, tennis is indoor sport. nobody likes playing tennis outside in the Wind and Sun penetrating your eye and making you develop cataracts. Not to mention skin cancer.............

Apparently, the coach cancelled most of the their ranked opponents after poor recruiting. He won the regional in the fall, but hasn't played against enough decent players in the spring. It's a shame, since he is very good!

Yea they had a couple of guys leave and couldn't get replacements in. Might have thought he could have scheduled a couple of matches to give Lopez-Villa a chance to get some higher ranked wins...

41st to 44th in the rankings should be the line for bubble teams
i think
it is too tough to calculate every conference tournament, or too much to search
but on 41st or 42nd u could be safe.

The bubble teams need Boise State to beat New Mexico today in the Mountain West Final otherwise that'll steal away an at-large bid.

TopDawg

G.O.A.T.
If Boise State wins today I think the cutoff will be at 42. If Alabama isn't eligible due to their sub .500 record that'd make it 43. Texas Tech, Auburn, Purdue, and Oregon will all be right in that range. Here is where they are right now if the rankings were run like normal this week - once they are run again tonight it'll likely change a bit but I wouldn't think they'd change enough to raise LSU up past Oregon but we'll wait and see.

37 Louisville* 23.14
38 San Diego* - Auto Bid 22.44
39 Ole Miss* 22.18
40 Texas Tech* 21.79
41 Auburn* 21.78
42 Purdue* 21.49
43 Oregon* 21.36
44 Drake* - (Auto Bid with win today) 20.85
45 Tulsa - Auto Bid 20.53
46 LSU* 18.60
47 Dartmouth* 18.52
48 TCU* 16.29
