I don't know if this info has been released yet- but for the 16x19 versions being released, is this a cosmetic change only? Or are there other changes being made to this newer version? I went on their website and all the specs looked the same so I wasn't sure.

Yes, the throat is different and there is some sort of dampening in the pallet.

I think the only difference is the VMD material in the handle to reduce vibrations. NAMD was already in the throat of the current model. The other obvious difference is they will now also have 18x20 320g version in the line-up.

I am going to wait for a review on this racquet but most likely I am going to buy another old Vcore Pro 97. I like the stick as it is already.

I had been experimenting with 1g of lead at 12 on my vcp97 310. After some time with it, I still like the stick best with no lead. :)

there is a percentage increase with every line. im gonna hold out 20 yrs until they finally produce the frame with 100% ball bounce, 100% spin, and last, but not least, 100% repulsion
Hahahaha.. do it! You will just have to make sure racquet touches the ball and the racquet will do everything from there... rip winners all by itself

im ready to go back to the duel G

I agree with your sentiment
I don't know what to think now about the vcore line!?!?
I wanna go back to the vcore.tour myself
I know someone else whos playing with a cracked red/white yonex which he loves now that hes got one
yonex is making drastic changes and people are choosing their favorites
we "yonex players", keep trying the new stuff and feel unconnected

Did you try with lead at 10 and 2? Seems like a number of folks, earlier in this thread, liked weight at those positions. I've tried it there, and at 12, and not sure I've seen any substantial advantages so may try no lead as haven't done that yet.

I didn’t try it at 10 and 2. For me, it just comes through the contact zone so nicely in stock form.

Looks like the New update to the Vcore Pro 97 line has dampening in the handle?? (Re: TennisProShop LAFINO video review just out on Youtube) .... Hallelujah !! :))

Update on how my transition to the 310 is going after ~3 months now since making the switch. I mentioned in a previous post that I was struggling with hitting the ball in the sweet spot consistently and volleying. After more time, I attributed this to switching back and forth between the two 310s I bought and the variance between the 2.

I bought one of them from my local shop but bought the second from TW because my local shop only had 1 in my grip size. One of them felt noticeably heavier in the hand as if all the weight was at the tip, and was less maneuverable and whippy than the other.

I used both the TW manual calculation as well as the SwingTool app to measure SW and got the same results. The difference between the two was around 8 SW points which was enough to make me struggle with timing and consistency switching back and forth between the two.

For the past 3-4 weeks I’ve been playing solely with the one that is basically right on spec. Since doing so, I have really gotten dialed in and playing some of my best tennis. I’ve tried a lot of frames in the past year and a half and I believe this one offers the best blend of power/control that I have found for my game. I was previously playing with the PS one7 before it started bothering my elbow. I played well with it well also, but found it too powerful at times and lacked some feel on touch shots. The vcp 310 is much better in this regard in comparison.

So for now I am done holicing for awhile (famous last words) as I’m loving the vcp 310. I just need to find another one closer in specs to the one I’ve been playing with to have as a backup. In hindsight, I should have just bought a matched pair from TW and paid for the matching service, but I like supporting my local shop as well as it’s the only place around my area and want to see it stick around.

Not sure if this was posted.. but closer look of the new vcore 97 and specs of big foe!

Yeah its awesome. There are guys here who swear everyone needs a heavy frame to handle the “big” shots from some rando at their club, while Tiafoe is out there cracking it at the same specs as a stock Blade or Pure Storm..lol. Really great video. After he throws a grip on there with the big Yonex dampener its probably 332 or so in weight.

I think the days of the pros playing playing really heavy frames are coming to an end. These younger guys coming up now have played with lighter frames their whole careers and aren't gonna suddenly swith to a 13oz. racket.

Not sure how they get the VCore 97 310 to SW 333 with a strung weight of 324 g

Those are the kind of specs Yonex should put in a retail racquet to compete with the blades.

I have a yy98 from my old coach i will have to bring out sometime for you to check out. I think it has a bigger sw than stock but the feel is the same. I agree with you for sure on the weight.

So I bought a pair of 330's a few weeks ago and have been experimenting with different string setups. I also bought a dropweight and am new to both stringing, and to string awareness in general.

I ordered my first 330 with NRG 17g mains and Cyclone 17g crosses, strung at 54 and 51 lbs respectively, knowing that the setup likely wouldn't survive long. Mostly what I was looking for was a little free power, along with a moderate amount of spin and comfort to protect my wrist. It fulfilled those goals relatively well, but I wanted something a little more economic.

Next setup was Cyclone 17g mains and OGSM 17g crosses, strung at 47 and 44 lbs. I thought I'd love the setup, especially with the low tensions leading to more power and comfort, along with the shaped Cyclone being in a better position to generate more spin. Plus OGSM is far cheaper and more durable than a multi like NRG. But nope - it felt like hitting with a wooden plank. I lost the feel of a direct connection with the ball and could no longer reliably predict the launch angle of my groundstrokes. Plus I was getting very little free power for some reason. Since this was only my 3rd ever string job, I worried that maybe something was wrong with my stringing procedure/technique.

Noticing that many people in this thread have been mentioning that smooth round polys really shine in this frame, I made the leap into a full bed of Head Lynx 17g for my next setup, strung at 51/48. Up till now I had been hesitant to try full poly because of my fragile arm (wrist in particular). But the folks in this thread know best - this round poly was an immediate upgrade, supplying sufficient power and reviving the feel of the racquet. Not to mention that I didn't feel like I lost any spin at all. This also confirmed for myself that I wasn't seriously botching my stringing jobs in any way. And as yet another bonus, the blue Lynx looked absolutely sick in the frame. That being said, the setup wasn't particularly kind to my wrist. It was relatively manageable, but at the same time I'm unsure about being able to use full poly long-term.

Now I'm thinking of hybriding a round poly (possibly/probably Lynx again) with a more comfortable multi in the cross. Has anybody tried any such setup yet that they like? I'm not super familiar with multis in general yet, so I'd appreciate hearing any suggestions.

I apologize for not wanting to go through all 48 pages, but what have been overall thoughts on string/tension for the 310? Just picked up a couple but need to be strung. Thanks!

I string PTP 125 at 52lbs and Iso-speed control at 55lbs - I find this set up good for pocketing with a good amount of spin. I get a lot of control out of my shots with this set up.

VCP 100 300g is a great racquet too! I find the 100 sq in is much more forgiving (easier to hit the sweetspot consistently) while also providing the control of a thin beamed frame. I added wilson shock shield grip + TW leather grip + 2 grams lead tape at 10/2 to weigh down the racquet for more mass -> more power. The control of the vcore pro line is amazing. Absolute surgical precision.

@Epicular Would recommend trying Yonex Poly Tour Pro 1.25 in the low 40s. I was using Yonex Poly Tour Pro at 42/40 in my VCore Pros and the comfort was excellent.
Hey thanks for the recommendation. I've seen YPTP get mentioned a lot in this thread, but I've been hesitant to try it - mostly because Mikeler ranked it somewhat poorly overall in his poly review thread, and because I'm concerned about a general pro-Yonex brand bias in this thread. Maybe those are silly reasons to not try a string, but there are so many different strings out there and I can't demo them all...

Head Lynx has gone great for me so far, so I'm gonna stick with that. I ordered a set of Prince Premium Control to try in the crosses along with Lynx, but it was once again reminiscent of my Cyclone/Syn Gut setup, which took away crispness, touch, and pop. Maybe this is a tensioning issue... I tension full poly in this frame at 51/48, but I don't change those numbers much when I add a multi or syn gut in the crosses. Has this been my mistake the whole time? People keep talking about how the sweetspot feels expanded in the isometric head shape when they reduce cross tension, but maybe I actually need a higher cross tension to compensate for the lack of stiffness in a multi or syn gut compared to a poly?

@Epicular Yead does read a bit like Yonex bias but its actually a really well rounded string in my experience. Have also hit Head Lynx and I like it, has some similarities to PTP in that it's a nice, soft comfortable poly.

I have tried a couple of hybrid setups in the VCore, mainly with Natural Gut and I always end up going back to a full poly setup. Haven't found a hybrid that I like in this frame. It plays really nice and comfortable with poly strung in the low to mid 40s, even the low 50s is nice, but it really opens up in the low to mid 40s. 'I string for myself so I can afford to go lower tensions and restring every week.

I would try the hybrid strung at the same tension on the mains and crosses at around 53 to 55.

PTP is a good, no frills round poly. It's not my fav string, but it gets the job done, and that's a feeling a lot of players have, regardless of diff in (string) preferences. There's a reason it's a popular Yonex string on tour. Great for hybriding too, esp w other polys. From Yonex I prefer the Strike, but that's way more expensive. The Spin is also a great playing string from Yonex that ime, when stringing at 46 lbs, is softer, with more ball pocketing, and more spin friendly than the PTP.

I've landed on the MSV Focus Hex Soft, which should be stiffer than the PTP according to the data, but is way softer, and even a bit less expensive.

Well my favorite is luxilon 4G but its not my go to string because of the price. I find PTP suitable for my game and the price for it is reasonable. Since I do a hybrid job on my sticks this is the best string option for me.

I'm liking Volkl Cyclone 17 @ 48lbs (not sure if it's round). Had my best hit in a while last night. ** this is with the previous (blue) VCP97 310.

Loving this stick now after overlooking it (chose the WUT over it, jumping on then off the ClashWagon, among others).

Interested to see how the Emerald 97 310 compares - but I'll try to groove with this one for a while and if my Holicing flares up, I have that to go to (without a huge change). :)

Cyclone is a gear shaped poly. It’s round with splines. Cyclone does work well in the vcp97 310. 1.25 is great except that it needs to be restrung after about 4-5 hours. 1.30 works better because it remains playable and lasts longer.

I recently got the old Vcore Pro 97 (310), but I noticed that it is about 0.5 cm (or 0.2 inches) shorter than my DR 98's. Could anyone confirm if the Vcore is a bit shorter or is this a QC issue?

It's the butt caps that are Sony Sensor compatible... they make the racquet a smidge longer.

Just picked up a matched pair of the VCP97 310. Both weigh 318gm unstrung (leather grip), 12pts HL. Going to string them tomorrow with PP Red Devil 1.24 at 45# to start. Excited to try them.

Strung or unstrung? I noticed my new one was a bit short compared to my others but after stringing the length was identical to 1 of my other two.

As far as I can tell most have experienced the Vcore 97 (310) to play best in stock form without lead. Normally I get a grip 2 and build it up with leather. Have anyone had a positive experience with only leather on the 310, or leather and a bit of lead to balance it out? I need to build the grip up one way or another, but would it be better to do so with a thicker synthetic grip, and maybe 2 og. I guess that would still mess up stock figurations, but not as much as a heavy leather grip.

I do not have experience with VCP 310 but there’s an app called Racquet Tune that you can simulate custamizing your racket with weight anywhere and it calculates balance, swingweight, static weight, etc

I have played with the 330 VCP 16x19 for the last 6 months with Tier one black knight 17g at 48#. I was excited to see the new paint job in person at my local store and was not disappointed. My store had my grip size so I decided to take the plunge. Better yet, they gave me the old racquet discounted price, $189!

I had the new one strung with Yonex tour poly 17g at 48, so I can’t make an exact comparison between the old and new 330. Loved it! Then again, I love the VCP. It actually felt a little light and more maneuverable, but that may be my imagination. It may have been the strings or the new cushion grip (which felt the same to me) but it felt more comfortable. the racquet seems a lot like the EZONE 100, so maybe it’s a tad stiffer. Definitely more responsive (probably the strings) or the stiffness.

In conclusion, I don’t have any complains with the new version, but I also didn’t do a fair comparison because they were different strings. Nonetheless, they were soft poly strings with 17g at 48#. I will have no reservations buying more of the new model with the new paint job.

I have kimony leather on all 3 of my sticks. I never had a issue with it. people have mentioned that leather w/o lead messes with the balance of the racquet but I never had a problem with it. I could lead it up if I wanted a little more plow but i do just fine without it too.

Thanks! But kimony is really light and thin, right? I'm afraid it wouldn't make the grip thicker

Yeah it won't - if anything its just a bit heavier than the stock grip and a good option if you want leather without changing the specs of the racquet too much.

Anyone just added TW 1.5mm leather to a 97 310? I’m curious as to what the weight and balance would be. I’m guessing (assuming) 316g since I believe Power Player added leather and 4g and it was 320g.
