This thread is a treasure trove. There has to be some way where all reviews can be indexed somehow on one page @J011yroger? Will be so easy to navigate. Like just link to post for each string. I'm bored at home and wife and kids are at the inlaws. Want me to do that and shoot you a draft?

Currently looking to try the next setup in my two racquets. I've got a Blade 18x20 v7 (BHST7) and Pure Strike Tour v3 (with cyclone 18g). I love the spin with Cyclone but I feel like I must have strung it too high (52/50) as it felt a bit boardy and dead and Silver Tour felt very stiff at 48/46.

String sets I have lying around:
RS Lyon
Black Knight
Hyper G 18
Ghostwire
FireWire Boost
Half set of Klip and Half of YPTP
ALU Power

I'm thinking something in the Blade at 44 and PST at 46 but not sure what to choose. I'm a low end 4.0 with a heavy serve and like the connected feel of poly (as crazy as that sounds).

Leaning towards Black Knight, Hyper G, or FW Boost...

Previous favorites have been Hyper G 16L (spin, longevity, feel) and BHB7 (feel and extra power).

Check out TW's Chris's thread here on low tensions. You might find it very interesting.
Don't need "Chris's thread" to know what tension I need... I prefer to try on court.
And with the lots of strings and tensions I've tried, I know that I need minimum 24kg/53lbs.
Don't understand people who change tension, strings and frames everytime......
If you want to play good tennis, you need to have one and only setup that correspond greatly to your game. Then, you have to forget about it and be totally concentrate to your tennis.

I recommended you read that thread so you learn more about string setup possibilities and how various tensions pan out. I am not the one here complaining about arm issues with Cyclone, you are. Besides, I like to hear what everyone says and try various setups and see what works. And from the likes of it, you are on a tennis forum talking about tennis. If you don't need others opinions and ideas, why are you even here? Just go be on the court and play with your setup.

That poster has a new, favorite, best string setup every few weeks/months so their statement is rather ironic.

Right. Is that why you keep posting and raving about different strings all the time??? I've seen your posts, you are always talking about maximum crazy spin and trying to find that holy grail string. One week its Grapplesnake Cube or Neon dust etc next week or month its something else. Cmon man, don't be a hypocrite!!!! :sneaky:

All this talk about Hyper-G.. tried it once and wasn’t all that impressed. Felt a bit harsh. For kicks and color coordination, I then tried Signum x-perience.. was impressed enough that I just bought a reel. Stiffer feel, good snap back, and wasn’t harsh on the arm.

I tried many strings, right. It was my period of test when I was back on court two years ago.
So YEAH I tried MANY strings and I was ALWAYS going in the right direction for maximum SPIN, control and comfort. That's why I said it was always the best I have played with!!! It was just THE CASE.

First best test was X-perience, YES.
Then I discovered Grapplesnake Neon Dust hybrid and it was even better than X-perience.
Then I tried Hyper-G 16 in my new Prince and it was the HOLY GRAIL as you say, american people...
That's ALL and not too difficult to understand. I hope...
Then now I know that I could not find better string than Hyper-G. And I will keep playing with it for years. It's the best string for great spin, control, durability, tension maintenance, playability duration AND comfort. No other string is so good in EVERY category. Try to find it!!! You can't.
Bonsoir! ;)

Have you tried any other gages in Hyper-G. I asked because I loved it in 18g, loved it in 17g, but did not like it in 16L- felt like a very different string. I may try 16g on your (enthusiastic) recommendation :)

I’ll make sure to quote this when you change your mind again. I’ve strung and played more Hyper G than most people on this board (over 30 reels in a couple years) it’s nice, but there’s better stuff out there.

And let me know what string has everything as Hyper-G. With real great comfort.

Outlast, Black5Edge, Typhoon, ALU Soft, Adrenaline Rough, Element, Red Code Wax, and RPM Rough are all strings which, in my experience, play better and for longer than Hyper G.

Spin is a byproduct of technique Shaped strings might grab the ball well to start, but after an hour or so the edges have worn down and it’s just a comfortable, bright green poly.

I get Hyper G for under $100 a reel and I used it for almost 2 full years. It’s good, but there are plenty that out perform it

Isn't most of the criteria for a string that has "everything" different for everyone? Based on game style, funds, ability to restring, whatever.

Hyper-G is a really good string which I string and recommend for clients/club members, but I also like BHS7T, BHB7, Tier One Tour Status and Firewire, WC Ultra Cable, among others in the geared poly family. All in a 1.25mm - I can't use 16g (1.30), just never liked the feel. But that's my own feeling for what like and I can restring whenever I like, and get strings at a discounted cost.

Trial and error is what kind of keeps us all entertained. With my Prince I used for about 5yrs, I only had Tour Status 17g in it. Never strayed when really hitting or match play. It was my go to. Now it's currently BHBS7T in my Angells because it feels great in that frame. In my Prince it didn't. To each there own ;)

Have you considered a poly hybrid with a smooth poly in the cross with some of your favorite strings?

I've tried a few textured strings with the following as crosses.

Cost effective suggestion
*Isospeed Baseline Speed/ Spin/etc (various name iterations to go along with gauge changes)
*ProsPro Red Devil

A little more $ than above suggestions
Tier One Ghostwire

Tried all except BHS7T who is coming in the mail soon.
They are all good but really don't offer, at the same time, great spin, control, tension maintenance, durability, playability duration AND comfort as Hyper-G. That's really for sure.
BHS7T seems to be nice but I already know that it would not beat Hyper-G in all that category. It will be more in the category of MSV Focus-Hex Ultra and Focus-Hex Soft, or Gamma Moto. Which are great strings.

And that's what I meant by we all have different criteria for what you listed above. I know you like Hyper-G compared to others for the reasons you listed, as well I like BHS7T and Tour Status for similar reasons (also based on the frame sometimes).

But I love testing string, etc, to know what my pro shop can offer, that players at my club could go for. It's a super fun process. A lot of people I know and play with love natural gut, and I recommend it heavily for certain clients with arm issues, but have never liked it in my own frames. Just my opinion though, you know? :)

I know. :sneaky: (y)

I also tried VS Touch 16/Max Power Rough 17 and it was so wonderful... But broke after 2 hours...

Fortunately I found Hyper-G and it is the best* poly in the world for a 40yo spin red clay player with acceptable level (5.0).

*because it gives you all (spin, control, tension stability, durability, playability duration AND comfort) you need with a poly at the same time without any default, compare to others that always lacking something.

Of course I will continue to try new innovative strings from different great manufacturers. And maybe, one day, Hyper-G will be dethroning...

Because I’ve played 8 sets to 3 reels of each string. You obviously struggle to understand the difference between subjectivity and objectivity, which is made worse by the fact that you can’t disagree with someone without being a jerk.

Post video of your hitting session man. After all this talk of yours, I'm curious to see how you play..

And I'm by no means an expert but it would do you good to start being respectful to other posters. Some posters here have a lot of knowledge and when you start being rude it shows you in very bad light. Your experience isn't the be all and end all when it comes to strings. A lot of posters know way more than you here, which is a reality you should accept.

My knowledge is as good as them. I only trust what I feel on the court and don't need any lesson from posters here. Really don't.

You, post a video. I'm also really curious to see how you play! :happydevil:
Even if it does not affect the fact that a string can excel in all areas...

lol, first I'm not American. My kids are but I am not. Second, I think I've learned all I needed to learn about you, man. You are rude, obnoxious and have sero sense of respect and I can only imagine how you are in person. And third and most important, if you know everything about tennis and strings etc, what the hell are you doing over on this lowly forum?? You are a walking talking contradiction, dude. Take that attitude over somewhere else. People are respectful here and no one has time for your pathetic attitude...

P.S: Also, I never claimed anything about my game. It was you claiming about all this attributes. And now you cant even produce a video of you hitting which tells me all I need to know about you and your posts. If you think all strings affect everyone the same way, you have a long learning curve ahead.

Now off you go.

It's hard to say since I'm not getting any consistent playing with it. It's going to break at any minute. I'd say it's average durability?

Have you tried any of those in 1.20mm? I like hyper G and ALU power at that gauge but I think Hyper G is better in the final stretch of the string life. I’m open to considering another string if you can recommend one with better playability throughout its lifespan.

Outlast, RCW, and RPM Rough are the only I’ve tried in a 1.20. I think all three lasted longer and performed better for what I like.
