Ok, thx to deleted thread, here we go again:

Fed has no chance. Will be gassed. Easy wrap up victory for Nadal.
I tend to agree, but let's not forget that Fed has never been more confident returning the Nadal serve. if he can serve lights out and get up a break early (as he did in IW), then who knows.

Again, the rallies need to be short.

Also, Fed ABSOLUTELY needs the first set to have a chance.

Yeah. As with most of your posts, I agree.

Nadal is red hot at the moment and highly motivated for this match. I'd go so far as saying that Nadal has a 65% chance because of Fed's added fatigue.

A Fed win would mean more than a Nadal win at this point, as Nadal has the clay season to look forward to. A Fed win would be HUGE and would establish him as Roger 2.0.

Did you know Nadal lost to Sam Querrey in the Acapulco final? How did that happen? Strange things seem to await Nadal in finals nowadays.

Haha yes, but Nadal will be extremely motivated.

In a way, this will be a ONE SET MATCH. If Fed wins the first set, Nadal's confidence will be a serious question mark. If Nadal wins the first set, Fed will find it very tough to muster the energy to come back and win and the old patterns may re-establish themselves.

Logically, 2017 Federer will supposedly win. Fatigue should not play a very big role in this. TennisAbstract has this match at 63% in favor of Federer.

BUT, I have a funny feeling that Federer will finally lose a big match. I just have visions of him getting to break point at 3-3 or 4-4 in the second set and being five points away from winning the match before getting cheeky and tentative. From that point, Nadal will start to step in more and change Federer's timing beyond his comfort zone.

He got pretty lucky to defeat Kyrgios and Berdych. That's why I'm going with Nadal in 3.

I don't think fatigue has anything to do with this. We're talking about professional athletes playing 2-3 hours and then having a day and a half of rest. Nadal has been looking good - aggressive, hitting deep - and Federer has had some tight (sometimes oddly so) performances. I think tomorrow, though, is tabla rasa and the Fedal matchup will revert to the pattern of the past few months: it comes down to Fed's serve & aggression vs. Nadal's consistency & aggression. My guess is 60-40 in favor of Fed.

After Kyrgios match, Fed is favoured. It depends who appear tomorrow: the guy who almost lost to Berdych or the one we watched yesterday

No doubt its - NADAL. Now its Federer turns favor Nadal to win his maiden Miami title. Guys, relax its Nadal year!!

It's interesting to see so many people confident that Federer will win tomorrow. The guy has played a lot of tennis this tournament. And he is 35. Nadal is much fresher.

Anyway, whatever happens, it feels like a dream to see Fed in the finals in all 3 of AO, IW and Miami. The fact that he won 2 of these 3 finals is even better. So no matter what happens, he is still the best player of this season so far.
This is a good attitude. Fed was fortunate to get past Berdych and Kyrgios.

I never thought he would be in this final.

You have a point about the cheekiness. My heart had palpitations after he did that ridiculous dumb drop shot in the second set of the Indian Wells match v Nadal. Thought it could be a turning point. Luckily it wasn't. He pulls that crap out here, he might lose a nut.

Have a feeling Rafa will win this one. Oldman has been winning far too much lately, probably time to step down a little. It would be great to see Nadal finally capturing that Miami crown.

Fred got #18, a win over Ralph, and then a demolition over Ralphie en route to an IW title.

If Freddie steps up tomo, it's icing on the cake. Otherwise no shame in letting Ralph hoist the hardware this time.

Are you nervous? I am. It's a Masters final on outdoor hard court that I just don't want Fed to lose.

Don't think so. He should get as many wins as he can against Nadal when he is still playing that well. Who knows how long can he maintain his form? Maybe an injury will stop him for good next year.

First off, as a Carolina fan we got our butts pulled out of the fire big time in the game that just happened, no way did we deserve to win that. Have to play way better against the Spokane boys.

On the tennis, the only two questions are how many times the ESPN guys will orgasm, and how many of the folks paying for 500 dollar tickets will get drunk on mimosas and bloody mary's. Fed 6-1 6-3.

I'd love a Fed win, but I won't sweat it if it doesn't happen.

At the rate they're going, this will hardly be the last Fedal of the year, and with fresh(er) legs Rogi now has the strategy and tactics to rack up the Ws.

This just might be one helluva year.

Nadal did serve well against Fognini. He was very sharp against Sock as well. But difficult to say how this would have been if he had to play any top 5 or Kyrgios /zverev kinda player. Though I believe there is not much difference between Todays Berdych and Jack Sock. Berdych declining and plays particularly bad against big 4. In race to London Sock is 9 while Berdych 20.

Fognini match could have been better barometer if he had played to his potential. He was totally off colour that day. Though i felt that Nadal was serving very well in first set. In second set he lost some of intensity coz of the response he was getting from Fog.

Anyways, I'll put my money on Roger for this. He is high on confidence and playing care free tennis.

Nadal won't be firing 138 mph bombs. Nadal's 1st serve as good as Kyrgios' 2nd serve. :) So that is advantage to Federer.
Only disadvantage to Federer is that he is old. I think one of these guys will take it in 2 or 3 sets. We will have to wait and watch.

Yes but tie breaks are usually more lengthy in nature and it was more of a "serve fest" yesterday for a 3 hours match. Fed played just 1 TB in his three 5 sets matches at AO in comparison.

To those asking why it got deleted, I am not exactly sure but my guess would be people were bringing in the Kyrgios match in it and started bashing the crowd and were offtopic.
But obviously someone reported it, for it to be deleted. Can't understand why someone would be so anal.

Nadal is older in tennis years. I don't have a problem with people giving Fed a fair amount of praise, but this "ZOMG FED AT 35" stuff from the media goes way overboard. Sorry, not mad at you, not your fault but it gets tiresome from others.

This will be interesting.

Ralph doesn't have the power or serve Keerios had. Lord Fedr was returning Nick's serve pretty well on Friday, Ralph was hitting 120-125 on his serve against Father Fabio which I think he'll be looking to do against Rog. The conditions are slower than Indian Wells so Rog won't be able to dominate with just 1-2 tennis. He'll have to probably serve and volley more and play longer rallies.

Really just depends on how much Roger has recovered from playing 9 sets in 4 days. He rested yesterday but who knows. I think the court will play faster in the daytime, so that should help him a little.

With Miami being so bouncy, this will be the first time we get to see how Rafa's forehand to Fed's backhand plays out

I think Fed either wins in a tight two-set contest. No blowout like Indian Wells.

Bold prediction.

I predict tomorrow it will either be sunny or it won't be. And the temperature will be under, over or equal to 76 degrees F. :D

Don't forget guys this is 2017 - the impossible year.

So which scenario is more impossible?
Federer winning AO-IW-MI in the same year for the first time in more than a decade, last and only time was 2006.
Federer beating Nadal for the 4th time in a row, which he has never done before.
Federer recovering from 5 hours of tennis played across 2 days to beat his greatest nemesis who has had only 1.5 hours of play across 2 days.
OR
Nadal winning Miami for the 1st time in his career after having lost the final on 4 previous occasions.
Nadal beating Federer in the final of a hardcourt masters 1000 tournament for the 1st time since never.

Lol. I predict boldly that someone must be umpire of the match.
Man, I can just feel the tension.

One of my adult students, a guy who is an avid player, told his wife that he couldn't eat during the Krygios/Fed match. I tried to explain the history to my wife, who likes tennis about as much as watching mold grow. The timing and importance had no impact on her at all.

But I have another friend who made the trip to Miami and saw all the great play there last Monday.

What is happening right now is really good for tennis. I just wish we had one top guy in the US to reignite interest in the sport on the men's side. Can you imagine what a Federer-type top dog would do to tennis here if he were American? Agassi at some point came close but he never established himself as a Sampras-level ATG, though he got close late in life, and Sampras just never caught on as a guy who was at all exciting for most fans here.

I sort of think Kyrgios would be huge here if he were American. Bad boys do well here - think of Gonzalez, Connors, McEnroe. ;)

I'm about as "unnationalistic" as any American can be. Years ago my favorite player was Borg, and I liked Edberg as well as anyone who has played the game. I didn't like Connors or McEnroe, though I did enjoy watching both play.

I don't care at all about any of the older Americans playing right now. Sock? Could not care less. Isner? I'd rather watch paint dry.

But it's a mystery to me how Switzerland can have two guys in the top five but the US can't produce one guy who threatens the rest of the tour.

For all of us who were young when Connors, Evert and McEnroe were huge what has happened in this century has been totally unexpected.

Hoping for a good, classic match between those two. After AO and IW my expectations are as low as they can be, which is not a bad thing. Nevertheless, I believe in Rafa.

May the better man win and may both fanbases stay polite and respectful to each other during and after the match.

I have nobody on ignore and it seemed perfectly fine to me. Odd.

Are you sure you will cheer for Nadal? Or will you be switching during the match? ;)
Nadal deserves this omission on his resumé, doesn't he?
Also, it would be nice to see folks exaggerating Nadal's current so-called 'bad level of play' finally get *shut up*.
He's already reached, what, FOUR finals on his 'worst' surface this season!!!

Would be nice to see Rog finally get a Rome title in reverse, but not counting on that, LOL. :D
