Looking forward to this match Novak leads the h2h 27-25

This is a rematch of their 2012 epic final which Novak won in 5 sets.

If Nadal wins then he will be the first player in history to complete the double career Grand Slam.

Its looking like Djoke in three sets is a real possibility

But still going to give Ned a freebie 3rd set

Novak in 4

It's strange considering there hasn't been a 3 set slam match between the two since they hit their primes except for that RG match when Nadal was in crap form.

I guess the bettors think one of the two will be clearly better than the other guy. They just don't know who.

Djokovic in 4 sets. May have to resort to DVR. Not sure I can make it this time after all the lack of sleep already. Setting my alarm in case.

Think about it: If Djokovic wins tonight, it means that the Top 3 have evenly split the last 9 slams between them.

Both these guys are ready physically and mentally for 5 tough sets. Both had little trouble reaching the final and had short SFs to save energy. This will be a good match. I think Djokovic, 6-3 5-7 7-6 4-6 6-2.

Australian Open announces switch to final-set tie-breaks for 2019 tournament

The tournament director, Craig Tiley, said the move came after the most extensive consultation in the Australian Open’s history.

“We went with a 10-point tie-break at six games all in the final set to ensure the fans still get a special finale to these often epic contests, with the longer tie-break still then allowing for that one final twist or change of momentum in the contest.

Cheers

if nadal keeps on jumping before the introduction, then this means hes nervous. he will never be able to overcome the psychological edge of djokovic.

15 pages...700+ posts...and the match hasn't even started.
Seems like the Nadal/Djokovic rivalry has gotten people just as excited as the Nadal/Federer rivalry. Makes sense as every Slam being won nowadays between these 3 is historical. Djokovic either passes Sampras tonight and gets to within 2 of Nadal, or Nadal becomes the first player in the open era to win 2 or more of each Slam and gets to within 2 of Federer...and with his best Slam coming in Paris where he could get to within 1.
There's a lot on the line here. I wonder if Federer is going to be watching this match?

Starts at 12:30 am my time in California. Obviously not a fan of either guy, but the only thing making me miss this match is nuclear war, Ebola or a vague pandemic.
What about a topspin plague? :D

Here I am, at work in a Midwestern hospital in the United States on a big rock that is hurling through space.
In two hours my patients will be oversedated and blissfully unaware that I will be settling in to watch this historical battle in an empty hospital room, taking it all in with eyes filled with childlike wonder.
Life is just breathtakingly beautiful sometimes.

I disagree. But hey! It's OK to interchange different views here, and I enjoy reading your posts.

In my opinion, Nadal's biggest weakness always was his serve. Now that he has improved it, I think both Nadal and Djokovic are pretty much like robots without any particularly big weakness.

It will be an interesting match tomorrow.

I enjoy reading your posts too. The feeling is mutual.

It's just that I've been watching his ROS over the past 13 years and can't count how many times I've punched the wall when he dumps a simple ROS in the net , shanks a ball or just returns it so short that it's ineffective. I really feel that if his ROS were any better , he would have a bunch more slams.

Interesting match coming up in a couple of hours. I can't even sleep here and it's close to 2 am in the night.

Gosh you guys are so lucky being on PST. I have been watching AO at 4 am all these years and my weekend typically gets ruined because of lack of sleep. I just cannot sleep. It's going to be 2 am here and there is really no point now. You're also fortunate that you have no horse in the race.

Exactly. Or if whatever is written here will directly impact the match. :p
It's people like you who spend your precious time making predictions who feel what you predict has anything to do with the outcome of the match. I just wait and see.

Looking for alternates to ESPN announcers...
Any alternate streams available? Maybe with guys like Vijay and Becker commenting.
