Cricket is not much popular in UK compare to other sports, tournaments will be watched worldwide, there will not be any conflicts....

Who the heck watch cricket? I know it's very popular in India and some former British colonies. My British friends talk about football or soccer all the time. Wimbledon too. I don't remember that they ever even mentioned cricket.

Sorry to be so ignorant but I don't even know what's all that about. I don't know the rules at all. Nobody cares in North America. Most people would think you are talking about insects, lol. I've never seen a single match. I guess I should visit YouTube to check it out.

Again.. WTF.
Last time it was Football WC final and Wimbledon finals.

If RF is in Wimby final then unless India is in the finals and Rohit is GOATing, I m not watching Cricket.

Edit - I want India vs England in WC finals.
No offense to Aussies, time for a change, they win everytime.

Ya i remember when I was in the US there used to be an ad for a cellular company cricket where a reporter kneels down at the insect and says that we wonder how the British can watch it for 5 days

I think it's maybe like Canada and curling. Britain is one of the best countries at it so people assume it's popular there. But the reality is that there just isn't much competition. Same with Canada and curling. I don't know anyone who watches it. It would never compete with any big sporting event.

wimbledon should have taken it easy and allow the moment for the second biggest world cup in sports - the cricket world cup.........except usa and a few scandinavian countries whose population is not that much, nobody will be watching the wimbledon final if india plays the icc cricket world cup final.........billions will be watching cricket, billions........

Isn't it basically just Britain, Australia, Pakistan, and India that watches cricket?

normally a grand slam lasts 2-3 hourse

where as cricket matches are played 9am-5pm

so it shouldnt be problem to follow both matches

plus where i live, all the tv channels are broadcasted live on internet,

so if thats the case in britian you can watch one sports on tv and other one on internet device

If Its India Versus Pakistan in the Finals,
Wimbledon finals will be a flop show this time around..

I don't watch cricket much, but will watch finals.

India has a population of 1.4 billion people.... but how many of them ever watched Wimbledon?
Ever watched Wimbledon, my guess 40% who got access to TV. On yearly basis, not much sadly.
There was little buzz back when Sania was playing, now not so much.
Still Tennis has little ground in South India and they should be tuning in even during world cup.

I give Pakistan zero chance of reaching the finals but if they do and it's India vs Pakistan, it is going to create a lot of buzz here. It is always epic when they meet, even non cricket fans tune in. I wouldn't call Wimbledon a flop but it will surely pale in comparison.

Side note - I don't think India is making WC finals either.

I also don't think Pakistan will reach the finals.. Not sure about India either. I don't trust Kohli's captaincy, he is a weak negative captain. If Dhoni or Rohit was Captain I would be confident of reaching finals.
But just imagine if its India Versus Pakistan in finals, half of humanity knows these are the biggest enemies/rivals and all of media will be focused there .
Wimbledon will suffer forsure.

Why did they decide to host both events on the same day? I am sure these events are both being shown on BBC in UK? Wouldn't that hurt their ratings?

I'm amused reading this thread. ICC should do something to spread the sport, it's pathetic one of the oldest games is played only by hardly 15 countries.
