Nadal and Djokovic both have to win their final match. Exciting! But I KNEW this would be tough against Medvedev, he's in excellent form. Called it before the match and this is a good chance for Zverev!

It's mostly just the forehand.

That's where the big "funk" is, but even little things like the tight/collapsed shoulder (not sure if that's a great description) on the backhand and the racquet face up at the beginning of the serve - are little unique looks to strokes.

So there is another "quarterfinal" with Djokovic against Zverev. Not often that we didn't have anything to calculate on the last day of both groups.

I had a feeling this match was going to be a disappointment.

I was just wrong about why.
So, Djokovic didn't play well? I didn't watch the match, but my theory of people on this forum underrating Djokovic and overrating Nadal looks correct again based on comments. Djokovic is still winning the title.

I just realized why Med's strokes come across as particularly funky - other than the aesthetics. It's that there's often discord between the swing and the result. Like sometimes with that long back swing it looks like he's going to absolutely crush the ball, then he won't extend all the way out, collapse at the last second and it's a mid-speed spiny ball, but other times it will be crushed. Still other times, it's a shorter stroke that ends up being a rocket (or relative rocket in terms of Med's particular game).
My favorite is the rarely seen heavy topspin forehand, it has so many moving parts!

I hope that Novak left shoulder and arm will get better from the injuries. If not, he will lose in the first or second round of Australian Open and than he will take two months off to properly heal his body. That is the reason why he is doing dropshots instead of hitting his backhand down the line.
