Going with Norrie, Dimitrov in a masters final would be the cherry on top with respect to a poor/weak ATP season

I mean he's been super consistent all year often falling just to high seeds

The unexpected invitee is Grigor tbh
Indeed he has been consistent given the draw. You can't knock that. It just feels like with the absence of the big 3 and the consistent perennial top 10 they played against that today anyone can make qtrs and semis. Grigor has not been a threat since 2017.

Who beat fedr at USO’19 and made SFs???

I don't know. A gremlin perhaps. Aging and injuries have thrown him into a descent for a good while.
LOL. That was less than two months after he had 2 MPs vs Djok at Wimby. Dimitrov beat him fair and square.

You could simply admit you misspoke and be a bit bigger than deploy another fake excuse. All big 3 were in that draw and only The Nadal went further than Dimi.

Are you suggesting that Dim is some kind of wonder player, or a future slammer ?
It's is a little late don't you think ?....
Finland beckons for the MASSIVELY over hyped perpetual loser.
He even dwarfs Raonic in the massively over hyped stakes.
His main weapon is the double fault - FFS !

I keep Fed's MP loss and losses out of mind. No need to remember. I recall the silky smooth slice, volleys, and serve.
Oh, you mean Houdinitrov. His magic disappearing acts are legend.
Who leads H2H - 7-1 ?
Hint from the ballboy: you brought up Houdimi's only win.
age gap - Fed is older by 9 years 3 months.

He's had great past matches but needed to go deeper. Tsonga and Ferrer fared better career-wise than Dimitrov

Going with Grigor all the way. He is the only one still in the draw who has actually been in a master’s final (and won a master).
He seems to play a bit wiser now and actually believe In himself. His talent has never been in question.

Au contraire, this shows will, smarts and talent is in ample supply for all the top seeds to get bounced between 3R and QFs. Bring in more of these truly open draw contests!

If a 30 year old underachiever in Dimitrov and an ugly game Cam Norrie is the future tennis is in big trouble. We need a 2004-2007 Fed to enter the scene badly.

Agree to disagree. Why not try to base your judgement on the present level Dimitrov is playing, which is quite high? No, you have to sledge about age and so called underachieving. Another negative Nathan.

I’ve watched Dimitrov since the beginning and he has always been a punching bag especially for Federer.

I’m actually glad for these semi’s. If I had to see Djokovic v Nadal or Djokovic v some lucky stiff who made it through the draw because Nadal didn’t play I just flat out wouldn’t watch. Love playing and watching tennis. Having some different people up there is nice for a change.

What is "Quiet high" ??

Baseless nonsense.

Post of the tournament.

At end of 3R the talk was how only 4 seeds had gone out. Eight seeds did get through 4R to QF but there were several surprise breakthroughs in the Elite 8. Now, QFs really debunked the usual dominance by top seeds with the highest SFist at #21 Norrie.

Truly an open tournament! We need more of them.

I’m so torn. As a Brit (Scottish) I really feel like I should root for Norrie, but I love Dimitrov. Grigor’s play can be nothing short of exquisite and he should have won the sportsmanship award a long time ago. Lovely man. Doesn’t need some PR guy to tell him how to behave. Loved his post match interview after his QF win. This tournament has been fun for the upsets and really showcases how the tour will be more open after the Big 3 retire.

Looks like Dimi and Norrie are enroute to the courts...

Live odds -115 Dimitrov, -110 Norrie. About as close to a coin flip as you're likely to see.

Always shocked seeing the YTD prize money for Norie... 1.500.000 plus, only this year.. Wow, I am definitely in the wrong profession... Anyway match starting..

Open in a really bad way. The quality is so bad. This is a huge step down from the big 3/big 4 era.
