Making this thread just for ananda, seeing as there is no ladies thread.

Although it's the 3rd round, and many players have taken the flight back home, it's not over.

This is the draw as of now.

3rd round matches to watch: (that haven't been completed)
Chakvetadze vs. Kirilenko
Williams vs. Mirza

4th round matches:
Dementieva vs. Sharapova
S. Williams vs. Vaidisova
Jankovic vs. (I'm guessing) Mauresmo

Venus for #7.

I like Venus, but she has to clean a few areas in her game, starting with her serve, and unforced errors.

Mirza should be a good match to get her gear.

I'm hoping for a final of Dementieva vs. Radwanska, Radwanska winning in a close 3-set match of high quality... But yeah, that won't happen. However, I'm really anxious to watch the Kuznetsova vs. Radwanska match tonight. Radwanska seems to go into the big matches better than the smaller ones. Who knows what could happen.

But realistically, I think we'll see a top half semifinal between Henin and Vaidasova, and on the bottom half, Williams vs. Chakvetadze.

Kuznetsova lost! There goes the no. 2!
The bottom half of the draw is a joke now compared to the top half. Venus or Ivanovic shoul play the final.

Just like the US Open, and Radwanska was the one that took out Sharapova from the bottom half last year also. The girl is on a rampage.

Anyone watching Chakvetadze vs. Kirilenko? Maria looks sooooooooooo tight.

It's been a while since we've had two cute girls play each other and it be telivised. It's nice to watch, both from a tennis and visual standpoint.

And you also get the sense they don't like each other. Lots of head games going on.

It's tough to say who I want to win more. Kirilenko and Chakvetadze are both nice to look at. But Kirilenko is workin' it.

Do any of the men here like Kirilenko? I think she's quite attractive.

She's hot, but she never really had any success. Good looking women who aren't good at tennis are everywhere. Heck, they usually are on the other courts when I'm playing. But to get both aspects together, now that's something to be happy about. :)

And good for Maria in this win. Anna's meltdown is one most people who play can empathize with, but she takes it so seriously.

What sucks now is that we may have Hantuchova play Kirilenko in the 4th round. Another battle of two attractive dames, and sadly one will have to leave.

Thank you gentlemen. As a woman I often have very different ideas of what's attractive in other women than men do, but I'm glad to see I'm not alone on Kirilenko. :)

Radwanska serving for the match against Kuznetsova, 6-3 5-4.

What is it about this girl that bothers the bigger players?:confused:

She is very consistent, and crafty, but not the most powerful.

Yes, I called it. I wasn't really doubtful though, I knew she could win it. Hopefully it'll be replayed on ESPN or Tennis Channel tomorrow.

She did beat an Injured Venus at Luxembour 06...Venus wouldn't play another match for 6 months and she had wrist surgery.

I know that match all too well, after 3 all in the 1st set Venus was just hitting one-handed backhands for the rest of the match. But, although she was injured, she didn't retire and just took the defeat. That's why I say on paper, she is really good.

The final score was 6-3, 6-0 or something like that...

I mean the girl has pushed some of the big players and beaten Sharapova, Venus, Sveta...

On paper this girl is the truth.

May I ask the two of you, what do you see in Radwanska, abilities wise, and how far do you think she can go (or conversely, what do you think might hold her back)? :)

That's the question I asked in an earlier post, because I saw a little of her match against Kuznetsova, and also a little against Sharapova at the US Open last year. She is very fast and crafty, but those players can easily hit through that, but maybe I am missing something.

Okay, now I see what your earlier comment meant. I thought that you had seen her play and that's what your 'paper' comment meant. I get it now. :)

I've seen her play so little as they barely play her matches on TV unless its against a big name like Sveta or Maria. She's also no where to be found online or on YouTube really. However, from what I've seen, her quickness, craftiness, and strategic game is there. She happens to choke too much (loss to Flavia Penetta earlier this year... I think she was up one or two breaks and lost it), and she doesn't have one huge weapon. However, she's only 18 and a more all-around game like hers can take much longer to develop than that of a baseline-basher's. Not sure if this is a good example, but Sharapova won her first slam at 17, Henin won her first at 20/21.

Thank you swimntennis, I appreciate your comments. :)

She sounds similar to Hingis, but perhaps more powerful. Would that be a fair comparison?

Yeah, that sounds right. I'm anxious to see how she'll do in the rest of the tournament. The draw has opened up so much. If she can beat Sveta, I think she could also beat Petrova and Makarova and get into her first GS QF.

She also has a younger sister, Urszula, who won a few Junior Grand Slams last year in both singles and doubles. She also won a WTA doubles title with Agnieszka.

Man, we Poles are proud of Agnieszka, granted Kuznetsova played like crap, but it's not everyday that we see a Pole in the last 16 of a Grand Slam. I hope she won't get overexcited and lose to a weaker player, like she did in the US Open against Peer.

I'm Polish also and its great to see her this deep into the tournament. Also, Marta Domachowska is in the 3rd round right now. She's playing Na Li right now to get into the fourth round. She's down 3-1 in the first set though.
