Simona Halep press conference (SF) | Australian Open 2020

Garbine was more varied and energetic, and "braver," as Simona put it - she deserved it.

When I looked at the SF draws Halep-Muguruza was a toss up in my mind as both are slam finalists and also slam winners a contrast of styles. What surprised me was Kenin beating Barty. Looks like Kenin played a great match to pull off the win. Looking forward to the final.

Simona, unsatisfied with her current conditioning, seems to have fired her longest-serving team member, the trainer Teo Cercel.

Now it's just an unconfirmed report in the media. But I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out to be true, she is impulsive. It is not the first time she has fired him, it has happened before, but she called him back very soon. Darren Cahill used to joke they had been working so long together and Theo new her so well, that they were like an old married couple.

Thanks Marius. Great highlights, nothing like the WTA ones, you can actually get a good grasp on the match.
Simona played appallingly. So many balls in the net, no power at all in her strokes! Had Jabeur not had so many UE, she would have certainly won.

I can't help thinking that the problem is mental, as it is the case so many times with Simona. She must feel still crushed after the defeat at the hands of Muguruza. And I wonder where's Darren Cahill. She obviously needs him to be there with her, even if it's just a mental thing. Because she fired Theo Cercel, God knows why, she fired Daniel Dobre and now she finds herself alone, with only Arti for advice or company.

Anyway, if she plays like this against Sabalenka tonight, she is losing for sure.

Is there any report of injury for Simona as a reason for pulling out of Doha?

Too bad if she decided to pull out unless she is injured. There is plenty of time to recover for Sunshine Double even if she goes all the way.

She looks in pretty good form at the moment and she should capitalize.

Yes, her father said that she had develop like an inlfated, raised area in her foot that was bothering her on the serve, before the event.

Apparently Simona has a serious problem with her foot. It seems to be worse than she thought and apparently she will have to rest her foot for a month. This means skipping Indian Wells (not that she has many points to defend). Ion Tiriac, president of the Romanian Tennis Federation - an extremely shady person, I wouldn t trust him farther than I can throw him - is the one who broke the news to the media.

Hopefully not Plantar Fasciitis
That's what it seems she has. 45 days minimum.

Took me 1.5 years to diagnose (better with MRI today), find the cause (inflexible NB 800 shoes), find proper shoes to begin to heal (Sampras' shoes), heal.

Use this test

Mean green and white NB 800! Wore 4 pr of CT-790 and finally received the 800 as a replacement. Became a grass shoe. Hurt cutting the lawn.

Prague does not have a strong draw! Halep should be #1 seeded and should be able to add another WTA title!
Petra Martic will take her down. Wait, no... Kristyna P already took care of Petra.

Perhaps Elise Mertens. Won one of her last 2 meetings with Simona. Prevailed over her last year in Doha but the Halepeno got her revenge at the AO way back in before-lockdown times.
