How should I reduce? I have no idea.
Aaaaaand make sure that said wife never finds this thread :lol:Hmm, 180 changes or 1 change, which one is easier?
How many pairs of shoes does your wife own? Might be a good way to deflect her argument.
My husband used to think 500+ was too many, so I gave a few away (about 40 I think) to the local hospice shop. Most were aluminium, so no great loss, but they were gone within a week.
I think I have around 480 right now, but we have a large double garage, so I can display quite a few (the best ones of course) on the walls. I also have two clothing racks, that take 70 frames each. One is for woods, the other for graphites. The rest are tidied away in a large bin (around 120 there I think).
Plus I have all my new frames (new, old, if you know what I mean) on the shelves of a bookcase and a few more hidden away in a large chest of drawers. Oh yes, and some in a cupboard....

+1.Keep about 12 for yourself, then load up the rest and go to some public tennis courts and start giving them away to needy kids.
While I would never advocate lying to your wife, I have adopted the simple answer when a racket shows up at the house and she asks how many I have, "too many." Keeps things much more simple and saves me from needing to count.
I've got over 600 now....
OK, most of them are to be sold but still.....
Check out my site, go to Collectors Talk and click the "Opening VTG" album to get an idea how I managed to squeeze them all in a 3 x 6 meter garage box.

Check this link and see how I manage to hang 25 rackets per yard by using curtain rails...
^^^ I've been at it for about 4 1/2 years now.
Most of these frames are for trade but many find their way into my racket bag and will never be sold. I'm not really a collector but it does feel that way when you see the number I have today.
It will take me forever to auction these of and I'm constantly on the look out for more classics that are of any value.
The total value of all rackets is estimated at 35,000 euro and insured for 50,000 euro.

I have close to a 100. My wife has stopped believing the "it's a demo that I will soon sell" line a while back and of course she sees the credit card statements as well.
After every big splurge, I take a break for a few weeks to get things back to normal. There is no long time solution to this issue though. Recently I succumbed to pressure and sold about 10 and after a week, spent that money to buy another 12.

Located in one of the most exquisite neighborhood in the Twin Cities, MN, the house of DW probably has multiple car garages. Thus, storage space should not be an issue (unless he also collects classic cars), not to mention that bulk of his collection has recently been auctioned off with decent prices. The new Prestige 600s went for $400+ per racquet. Most of the racquets (PP600, PC600, PT630) were sold to only about 4 or 5 high bidders (rollers). They are either loaded or planning to resell them at a healthy profit margin. Is David Wheaton the OP?
I have to think the wife told him to get rid of all those damn old tennis rackets in the garage !!!
I was joking, of course, but I never underestimate the power of nagging.
Yes, the brown/green Prestiges went for 400 each and the same guy bought both lots (6 for about 2400.) Doubt it is a re-seller because they would not be able mark them up much, if at all. (Edit, Wrong! It was a re-seller and I shudder to think what he will ask for them, 1500+/each?) Seems true of most of the rackets as the prices were pretty high. (Edit, I spotted a couple of flippers, one is a minor flipper.) Paying full blown retail prices doesn't leave any room for flippers to profit. Hopefully, the rackets went to people who will actually play with them. (Edit: For the most part, that seems to be the case.) Seems like there were quite a few different buyers of the 22 lots.(Edit, Maybe 10 buyers) I think the flippers got priced out. (Edit, most of them did.)
61 for four volkls...
... I feel sick.
