How can everything always goes Nadal's way?

It's amazing...I was micking their jinx threads but it looks like Pantera and other Nadal fans' jinxing efforts have worked out. This royally sucks. How this guy is able to out grind players at 33 is beyond me. Federer had to switch racquets and completely change his game but Nadal apparently doesn't need to. Still runs around like the energizer bunny. No dip in his speed and stamina. This guy is going to keep outgrinding everyone until he is 50 years old.

Oh come on. I’m a Fed fan and not a supporter of Rafa but the guy has not been all lucky, he’s had a crazy amount of injuries in his career while Fed got pretty lucky to coast through most of his career without injuries or withdrawing from a slam as a defending champion or retiring from a match.

Was Federer outgrinding his opponents when he was 33? He had to sacrifice his racquet head size and playing strategy. Nadal has had to make minimal adjustments....

I don't think I've seen so much whine since I visited Provence... EVERYTHING ALWAYS goes Nadal's way? He's lost 2 Australian Open finals up a break in the 5th, had to pull out of 2 other years with injuries, he lost an Australian Open final to a guy he'd never lost a set to in like 12 meetings. He couldn't get out of the first week of Wimbledon for like 5 years, and could barely compete with journeymen, the guy literally drop into irrelevancy at any significant level for 2 whole years. He spent the second week of Wimbledon 2007 on court pretty much every single day. At Roland Garros in 2006 he went into the final having spent 5 more hours on court than his opponent. He went into the 2009 Australian Open final with a days less rest having played the longest match in the history of the tournament. How about when he won 3 majors in a row, became the youngest guy in history to complete the career slam, and then someone suddenly discovered that bread was not his friend, and the rest was history. Doesn't seem like any of these things went his way to me.

Nadal's minimal adjustments have included completely altering his entire serving philosophy, even rejigging his motion, hitting with less top spin than he used to, not running around his forehand as much as he used to and having to actually work on his backhand, and turning from the ultimate grinder into a guy who tries much more to get to net.

Nadal leads the H2H over Djokovic both at RG and the USO. At the USO Djokovic would be an extremelly dangerous rival for Rafa. At RG, Djokovic is dangerous but not Nadal's nightmare precisely. Nadal dominates the H2H over Djokovic 6-1 at RG. Plus, Nadal defeated Thiem in the RG final, and Thiem defeated Djokovic. So Nadal faced the second most in form clay player of the world right now. Thiem has had better results than Djokovic the last 3 RG in a row.

He's a champion and seizes the opportunities given to him. Nobody told Federer he had to cave in that fifth set against Dimitrov.

Or the fact his last AO win and Wimby win he didn't face rafa or djoker and faced cilic in the final of both.

Or the fact that fed has only won 6 of his 20 slam finals against Djoker and Rafa. Rafa has won 8 slam finals of his 19 against Fed or Djoker.

Tough to say Rafa has it easy....

Says this while the 38 year old was running around like a gazelle in the longest Wimbledon final ever with even more games played against Djokovic of all people and still looked like he could've gone on for more games after 13-12, and this coming right after beating Nadal.
i don't know the stats for wimby final but he was winning the longer rallies against rafa and i think djoker as well

I agree with all of this, but my favorite line:

"How about when he won 3 majors in a row, became the youngest guy in history to complete the career slam, and then someone suddenly discovered that bread was not his friend, and the rest was history."

That's a new look at the gluten problem! :)

As said before, Nadal won his favorite slam in 2018 and 2019; Federer choked his favorite slam in 2018 and 2019. This is why Rafa is a match-win away from being within one of Roger's slam record.

And that's why Fed will lose the slam record.Raw tennis is not enough without proper mental strenght and clutchness.

If everything went Nadal's way, he'd be undefeated.

And according to Nadal, he would also be undefeated if injuries never existed.

Please stop calling Rafa's injuries 'bad luck'.. it's like saying the difference between an office worker's injuries and a MMA fighter is all luck.

Players dread playing him because of his luck. I think both Matteo and Med both answered when asked what is the toughest thing about playing Rafa that “he’s very lucky.” You can't beat luck.

I’ll look back at their respective press conferences and try to find those portions so you don’t have to watch the entire interview.
LOL

:-D

Who cares? Nothing anyone can do about cakewalk king. His fans don't care, he himself doesn't care (on record said he'd like if Djokovic didn't exist). Slam's a slam, no? Future gens won't care. It's just numbers that will be left in history books.

Have you forgotten that your idol has just played the longest final in the history of Wimbledon with almost 38 years?
After playing hard matches with Nishikori and especially with Nadal?
And of the two players, despite the age difference, 6 years older than Djokovic, Federer showed no signs of fatigue after almost 5 hours of play!
And let's not even talk about AO 2017 and the amount of hours played for someone who had just recovered from his injury after 6 months without playing and resisting 7 matches of high energy demand, especially 3 of them that should have been his final stop but the guy showed signs of recovery for someone his age never seen before; and his Sunshine Double where he won with brutal matches with Berdych and then with Kyrgios, and showed no signs of fatigue in the final with Nadal.
And this season he has also played on clay, for the first time after 3 years, the most demanding surfaces according to the connoisseurs, and won a brutal match with Wawrinka of more than 3 and a half hours with more than 37 years and 9 months.
Never before in the history of tennis, has the amount of matches played by someone who would turn this season 38 years old been seen.

If you think there is no justice in this world, you cannot also see the other side when it comes to your favorite, since that would be hypocritical.
