I disagree with Jon McEnroe that he thinks Donald Young is an amazing talent. Isner is far better. Speaking of 18 year olds, Agnes Szavay and Agnieszka Radwanska are far better talent. These girls are far better mentally.

Donald simply got lucky - beating Gucionne and walkover by Gasquet (otherwise Gasquet would have gave him a lesson). Seeing Donald play tells me something - he doesn't have a clay court game. The top latin and spanish players will cream him on clay, Donald will not stand a chance on slow European clay.

He's much classier than Venus or Serena, that comparison is just stupid. Isner isn't 18 he's 22 and doesn't even come close to Young in total potential. You know nothing about Donald mentally, nor do you have any idea how good he is on clay because you never seen him play on clay. He's got many years ahead of him and to make such a prediction against so many tennis experts opinions shows you know nothing about tennis.

i would totally agree you. cause i always think that young was way overrated and all this BS.

i will agree with you on one brief point, i do think isner is better.

however, he made lopez earn this match and i mean earn it. a few points here and there and young would be playing fed man in the 4th round. but young showed why he deserved the wild card to the open. i cant believe im doing this , but props to him. i wish him luck in the future. it is also good to see american tennis on the rise.

but i have to say ISNER had that match. hahaha. ok maybe not, but damn i wish he could have pulled that off

yeah man ease up. Young has lots of talent, Isner can depend on his serve for most of his matches, young doesn't. He can crank it up to 130, go for winners, and I think his ground game is far superior to isner's. He just has to mature his talent.

The hype around him is annoying but I dont hold that against him. He does not control that and certain players being overhyped and shoved in your face is just part of the sport. He seems like a grounded kid and he plays interesting tennis, not just bang-bang like many others.

Give Donald a break. He had a great tournament. I was really reluctant to believe the early hype on Donald but he has really impressed me with his results this past month.

the kid is an amazing talent and it looks like he has the toughness to be a major player for years to come. only disadvantage right now is his height, but hopefully he's not done growing yet. right now, he's like a more powerful michael chang.

he played well and almost took it to 5 sets in the 4th round of the US open. you are right, he must have no talent and is a total waste of time.

Some people can only get off in the downfall of others, not a great personality trait to say the least :p .

I don't know how people can say Isner is better and has more potential, he's over 4 years older than Young and the only thing he has better is a serve and a minor mental edge, which is understandable when Young has had so many expectations on his back for years and Isner has just come out of nowhere and basically has nothing to lose.

I don't care what anybody thinks, Donald Young has the talent. For his 1st GS, he did well, plus he just turned 18 & has 3 more yrs to get taller. He'll definitely be a force to be reckoned with. He's a likable person & hopefully he'll stay down to earth & stay focused & dedicated to become a tremendous player.

BTW, Lopez is going to get his ass kicked by Federer anyway.

If not, then technically speaking, he won only won match (vs Guccione) since Gasquet was a no show.

From what I've seen from him, he seems like a nice kid. I understand that the American hype machine is all over him, but it's unfair to dislike him based on how he is treated by the media.

He's only 18 years old and gets twice as much criticism than most players. I think he will develop well and wish him the best of luck in his career.

No one said that he would beat all the top clay court players in the world on clay. He has a game that would be more suitable for clay then lets say Blake, Andy. But I think we all know that he can't take out Ferrer on clay or Nadal, Almagro ect. Your comparsion with Isner is bogus because if you didn't realize Isner is 6'9 and Young is 5'11. The women's game is much different then the mens game so let's not go their.

People are trying to compare Young and Isner to who will be better, so how is it bogus to compare them. Yeah their is the height difference, that is one of the factors brought up in that comparision though.
