i would totally agree you. cause i always think that young was way overrated and all this BS.

i will agree with you on one brief point, i do think isner is better.

however, he made lopez earn this match and i mean earn it. a few points here and there and young would be playing fed man in the 4th round. but young showed why he deserved the wild card to the open. i cant believe im doing this , but props to him. i wish him luck in the future. it is also good to see american tennis on the rise.

but i have to say ISNER had that match. hahaha. ok maybe not, but damn i wish he could have pulled that off

Yes, Donald Young is the most overated & overhyped player at the moment. Young players like Juan Martín del Potro, Ernests Gulbis & Evgeny Korolev are far better results and have higher rankings than Young and yet the media doesn't cover them. Why is the media so focused on Young? I think because he's unusual - he's black.

BTW, Juan Martín del Potro, Ernests Gulbis & Evgeny Korolev are all about the same age - 18 or 19 years old. So, Young is no longer the youngest or some phenom.

So when does being black makes you "unusual" ?

You better be careful buddy, it's very easy to sit behind a computer and pull smart scenarios out of your a** like you've doing over the past week. From what you have been saying it seems you’re the only one preoccupied with his race.

Donald Young can't control the media attention that he's getting, but the kid has some talent. In the end he may live up to the hype, or he may not but he won't be the first or the last.

Ok, first all of those players you mentioned are older than Donald by a minimum of 10 months. If you've seen the great strides Young has made in the last 10 months you'll know that it is definitley a possibility for him to improve to be at the level or better that those 3 guys play at. That aside, your right, he is overhyped, why though? 1st, because frankly he's American, 2nd, because he was the worlds top ranked junior at the age of 15, thats special no matter who you are.

the kid is an amazing talent and it looks like he has the toughness to be a major player for years to come. only disadvantage right now is his height, but hopefully he's not done growing yet. right now, he's like a more powerful michael chang.

Oh come on now!!! wait just a second....how is this guy right now like a "more powerfull" Michael Chang? LOL...LOL...LOL...
Sorry, I have nothing against Young and...sure... he (Young) might be really talented but show some respect for Michael Chang who won his first Us open match at the age of 15 and became the youngest Roland Garros and Grand Slam champion (17 years, 3 months)...
nothing wrong with Donald Young...just showing some respect for Chang ;)...

I admit I was sort of down on Young like so many others before. But after I watched the Young/Lopez match I'm starting to like his game.

Nice quickness.
Big 1st serve.
Real nice fh..specially the flick crosscourt under pressure.
At times he hits on the rise on his two handed bh.

Good instincts at coming to net...but needs to work on his volley more.

Nice looking game actually.

Donald Young just needs to sit back and just play tennis and not get caught up with this media thing. The media is just puzzled now which male phenom to focus on, now that Donald Young has lost.
