New Nike Aust Open gear

^^^ exactly! Until anyone here tries it we don't know if it performs better and it's up to the individual to decide whether it performs better to justify the price increase. Having held a sample of the shoe months ago, I can already state that it is much lighter than previous models and for some that's enough. To each their own

^^^ personally no. I find the clothes to be a little expensive. I'm someone who really values footwear so I don't mind paying higher prices (within) reason as I feel footwear is more important not only to performance but also to health. Again it's my personal opinion and I do realize I am the minority. I just don't understand why people are saying the shoes crap before trying it just because rafa sticks to his own preference. Also I feel Nike will reconsider this high price because I spoke to the Nike rep out east in Canada about the shoe and he said the price was too high and that he had barely sold any

Id vapor? Or something meant to look vaguely similar to the 9.5's whilst retaining in earlier design?

From what I've seen on the internet, the LBs are even lighter than the V9s by 6.5 grams. They are listed at 391g for US10, which is quite the diet compared to the 4.3s.

Cheers for the pictures, nice comparison! So are there any differences other than the the reskinned upper?

There are barely any differences between the Vapor 9 and 9.5! Everything is basically the same except for the reskinned upper (and with a different fabric, which you can see clearly at the heel side), which I think is a good thing, since it looks more durable than the Vapor 9 upper.

Big Vapor 9 owner but not impressed with the 9.5. I'm digging the new Lunar Ballistecs more but hope for more color options down the road.

I too am doubting to switch to Lunar Ballistec:

The reasons I went to Vapor 9 were:
- Feet lower to the ground with Zoom Air
- Lightweight
- Superb ventilation, even in heat, because of mesh
- Comfortable fit

Now with the Lunar Ballistecs, they have the same advantages as the Vapor 9(.5) and more:
- Lightweight
- Feet lower to the ground compared to Air Max
- Durability

Now I just don't know the following:
- Are your feet lower to the ground with the Vapor 9(.5) or with the Lunar Ballistec (Zoom Air vs. Lunar)?
- Is ventilation gonna be a problem? I know there are holes on the front of the upper, but that's it. Everything else is synthetic leather, your feet will get hot really fast, especially when it's hot outside compared to mesh.
- How much more comfortable are the Lunar Ballistec compared to the Vapor 9(.5)?
- I wonder about the durability of the flywire that's keeping the laces?

I also find it odd that all the different tech used to build a new unique tennis shoe isn't even supported by the player (Nadal) himself. In pictures, you can clearly see a paintjob. But I don't know if he will actually switch in the future. In the case of the Vapor 9, Thinker Hatfield designed this himself and the player (Federer) made the switch to Vapor 9. This might be an odd reasoning, but I find it interesting :)

Ok so where's this stuff at?
I see websites have already built some of the new code in, but what is the release date TW?

Looks like it's tomorrow. Wonder when the tw review will be up. Would be interesting but for the price.

Strange that the line is not up yet... I wonder if it's a Jan 2nd release date?

It is.

"The new Nike Lunar Ballistec for men and women launches globally on Nike.com and at select retailers worldwide beginning Jan. 2, 2014. "

It would make sense the LBs rollout with the rest of the line. Looks like we have to wait one more day!

Strange considering TW Europe has the line up.

I see the line on TW Europe, but where are the shorts Nadal is wearing today, the grey ones?

Also, are they releasing day and night Aussie open stuff later?

Yeah. But no Dimitrov Stockholm henley. Saw the pic in the other thread with Harrison wearing it in Brisbane - sure hope it drops here in the US in the next few days.

Happy New Year to all the Nike tennis gear fans.

Did anyone notice on TW EU's site that the Fed AO shirt shows a 27 Jan availability? And the Nadal shirt.... get ready for it... 16 Feb!

Not such a good new year so far... :(

I love Nike, but if that's true and it's the same for the states?
How can you not release the gear until well AFTER the Aussie Open?
So much for waiting until January to purchase new gear....Wow.

^^^^ Nike has been missing dates with tennis gear fairly regularly in the last year or so. So while I'm not happy (would have run up to Niketown if I thought I could buy some of the new stuff), I'm not surprised.

And remember (not to make excuses for them - just reality) - Tennis is a pimple on their billion dollar elephant's rear. If they do use the same manuf facilities for other sports, I'm sure the basketball (Air Jordan and $220! Lebron shoes) takes precedence.
