Put 4 hrs singles on the X yesterday.

I was impressed.

Not plush comfort of Vapor 9, 9.5...

But very solid performance shoe.

Didn’t have the low to the ground feeling as the shoe is raised a bit due to beefier sole (which seems to be a stronger/stiffer rubber), but definitely felt like a well built performance shoe.

Less laying on the couch comfort of V9 and more Time to go to work at the office!

Looking forward to putting more miles on it and seeing how it holds up.

Shoe has Beefier sole and raised higher but it isn't as Plush cushioning like 9 and 9.5 ? I am confused

Vapor X - Narrow

Ultra React - Medium at most

Everyone with slightly wide feet have to resort to other brands.. Nike wtf are you doing?!

And give us at least some solid black Vapor X's in a wide fit with normal and clay soles!

I bought them, and unless nike has huge qc problems, the x is more narrow.

Logged a few more hours singles on the shoe.

Def feels very locked down and secure on top due to the lacing system. But the bottom of the shoe does feel awkward to me on court during play.

It’s definintely a different shape/design from previous vapors and I keep expecting it to feel like previous versions against the court. It’s just different.

To me it feels a bit unstable underneath, and perhaps it’s just getting used to it being a different kind of shoe.

By the looks of it, I thought this shoe would get torn up in a few hours of play - but that hasn’t been the case 7 hrs in.

They look good as new, and it will be fun to keep playing in them to see how they go over time.

I can’t remember if you have friends/contacts at Nike like a few other people on the boards: but if you do then feed back that they really messed up with those leaked X photos late last year - they were hideous and poisoned a lot of peoples’ opinions. In fact lately a lot of Nike product pics aren’t accurate; bad angles or lighting doesn’t show the actual color.

I loved BMS' shoe reviews for TW! She put on the X's, hit three balls, and was like "nope. too slippery for me." It was just neat to watch a high level pro know so quick what will or what won't work for her. For me, I have put about ten hours singles on my X's now. Very impressed all around. The sole does feel a bit "plastic-y"...but that's basically the only downside for me. Solid performance shoe.

I am happy that they are releasing Vapor Prestiges as well!

Tried them in a shop yesterday, in both HC and clay version, and tried Asics Solution Speed as well. Fit wise the X was a glove, I have to admit they're perfect for my foot, while the Asics are long and narrow, a bit weird if you ask me. But the HC sole of the X was a big no no for me, as it felt slippery even on the floor of the shop. The Asics sole was perfect but the fit was lacking, way too narrow. I usually play either on clay (but i have my Ubersonic's for that) or on synthetic grass (which usually has a fair amount of sand over it) so the X with the HC sole are not what I'm looking for. Maybe I could make it work with the clay sole though, which felt fine.

The Vapor 9.5 was known to have one of the fastest wearing outsoles of any shoes on the market. Many people had this complaint. Nike has probably gone to a harder, slicker rubber compound & so now it's an issue. I, personally never had an issue with the wear of my 9.5's or even the Babolat Jets that I have, both of which have had issues in the playtests for quick wearing outsoles

Got a pair yesterday and wore them last night to hit for about two hours. I had to get a half-size larger since my usual size would be way too tight (I have a wide foot). First thing I noticed was that the insole feels more snug in the mid-section. That may be due to the "claw" thing. Forefoot, toe box and heel were fine. Also noticed the laces are seemingly short and thus hard to tie a knot. Weird. They are also seemingly a bit stiff out of the box but once I wore them on court for about an hour, the shoe properly broke in. The comfort level does seem a bit better than the 9/9.5s for me. I did have a strange experience on court when I went for an inside out FH, the shoe sort of slipped - I thought I had stepped on a leaf or ball fuzz or something but, no, I just slipped. Another oddity. The shoes don't seem to squeak as much as my 9/9.5s. As a matter of fact, they never squeaked last night. Maybe due to the different compound or pattern? Not sure. I got them on sale so I don't feel bad about the purchase.

It remains to be seen what happens when I buy a third pair of X's. 9.5's a little easier to get on and off, lace up a little more user friendly but I'm more locked into the X's. Not same shoe but kinda close. Pro's and cons. X's and O's. Six of one... you get the idea. I'm gonna pull in a clay pair from TWE next, then the Wimby model and try the Zoom Zeros and on and on it goes.

which one has better cushioning ?? I heard Vapor X traction isn't very good and it is slippery on the sole, so it is good if you like sliding on hard courts but if not, it is hard to get off to great pushoff

Both super comfy. Always have been. Just 'cause BMS says they're slippery not too sure they are. Have not found that to be the case at all. And I'm way past the point of sliding on hard courts with my knees and that's assuming I even could. I move in the X's the same way as I do/did in the 9.5's. Would I have kept the bottoms the same. Probably but no problem with the new ones. And if you want the old bottoms just buy the "Prestiges" and maybe get the best of both worlds?

Clay, on clay. But they do well on synth grass as well.

Prob about 15 hrs singles now in the X’s.

Solid playing shoe - for sure.

I really thought they would get torn up easily by looking at them. But they have held up just fine, and I am rough on shoes.

Starting to notice a bit of wear in certain spots...but nothing major.

The hard rubber looks to be softening up a bit from court friction, so they may wear down rather quickly in the near future...

But no contest they are much more durable and sturdy than 9/9.5’s.

Definitely more towards performance and less toward comfort.

As poster mentioned above - previous vapor and this vapor are X’s ans O’s...not necessarily one better but pros and cons and depends what the person’s preferences are and hat they are looking for from the shoe.

My expectations were very low when I looked at the shoe - but putting time in the shoe it is definitely a legitimately solid performance shoe.

I bought the Flyknit Vapors at a decent discount but hated them because the sole lasted literally two weeks. It was also far too wide but that's fine, not everyone has medium-narrow feet like I do.

The Vapor X is pretty much superior in almost every way--far more flexible top and bottom, still low to the ground, light, and doesn't wear out as quickly. It's still more fragile than the CBs, LBs, and the Cages, but they are different shoes for a different type of player.

Speaking of Cages, I'm loving the Cage 3s as well. Hoping to get Rafa's clay swing or RG one off TW when the price is right. Those things are virtually indestructible, and I'm a toedragger on my backhand side.

Cage 3 is slightly narrower (Vapor X is a little narrow too) so I’d wear a half size larger on the Cage 3 in general. The Vapor X breaks in faster because of the way the uppers are designed. Cage 3 takes a while to break in but when they do they are much more comfy, albeit slightly taller. Instead I think the Cage 3 will last a year where for every 4-6 months the Vapor X lasts, depending on when you’re willing to replace your shoes.

Edit: the Cage 3 is very much the old Lunar Ballistecs with Zoom and a different upper. Whereas the LB uppers did not change much with break in, the Cages will expand to accommodate wider feet after a while.

They’re still on the narrow side though, so if the Flyknit Vapors are perfect for your feet, neither the Vapor X nor the Cage 3s will be as accommodating.

Hi, I also have medium narrow feet. I am between the Vapor Xs and the Zoom Cage 3s. My concern with the 3s was a comment I read about the toe box not being tall enough and rubbing against the top of the big toe. I dont think i have "tall" toes but i do wear a size 11 Vapor 9.5. Have you experiences this?

Tried the Vapor x yesterday and after liking it the first 10 minutes i ended up bring annoyed and not so impressed. It is a well made shoe but the outsole and sole really stood out in the heel, on the outsides just as you land. This caused the whole foot to kind of twist inwards, pronate in a pretty severe way as the bodyweight transferred.. i will go for the cage 3 now

I haven’t had any issues with either shoe giving me issues in the toe box. The Cage 3s WILL feel like a thick sock at first, but they WILL also change a lot after they’ve broken in.

When I first got my Cage 3s, the uppers felt a bit stiff (although the difference between the sole and the uppers in stiffness was minor, unlike say the Flyknit Vapors), but after a week or two of wear (I only play 4-6 hours a week), the uppers softened up significantly and the Cages would twist and bend when as one unit rather than two disjointed halves glued down the middle as I found with the Flyknit Vapors.

If you wear size 11 Vapors, do try out the Cage 3s in 11.5—although I would try them first if possible. Sizing with the Cage 3 is probably the most messed up part of the shoe...everything else about it is really nice unless you have wide feet.

Vapor Xs are nice out of the box, but even with the updated outer sole it wears out ridiculously quick. I’ve had my red Cage 3s since the day they were made available (about a year) and the soles on those look far less bald than the Vapor X I’ve had for a month. Not to mention the Cage 3s cost about 15-20% less...so if you can get a pair or Cages that fit, you’d be better off with those than the more expensive Vapor X.

Approx 20 hrs of singles play on X’s.

Could not be more pleased and impressed with sole durability.

Starting to wear a little bit, but not much at all.

What I do feel is happening is that as the outsole has worn slightly from play, it has gotten less “slippery.”

At this point I imagine I will have issues with the upper - the lacing system does look like it could tear and I wouldn’t be surprised if that happened, but it has held up so far - and I am one of those people who is very hard on their shoes.

All in all, impressed and pleased @ 20 hrs in.
