Oh, it's a big great deal. He wouldn't want Marian Vajda doing his day-to-day conditioning or post-match massage!
After his initial complaints, I had suggested that players would need a trainer and physio, in addition to the coach!

I mean I didn't understand the push back to him wanting more than one person with him (Djokovic is just not playing without his physios at this stage of his career), and the idea that he was trying to boycott the tournament.

THE US OPEN LOOSENS UP
The Open has a new tournament director, former WTA chief Stacey Allaster, and she seems to have heard the top player’s complaints about the strict protocols that were floated last week. Today some of them were eased.
Players can now travel to New York on their own. Entourages will be allowed outside the grounds, and three people can accompany the players inside the grounds. Private houses, along with hotel rooms, will be available outside of Manhattan, complete with a realtor to help the players negotiate the New York real estate market (have fun).
The traveling to NY on their own is actually a Federal policy - an exemption has been made for pro athletes in many sports.
Private homes were always an option (AirBnb). Realtors were always available LOL - this is the Internet world.

That's the restriction.
The whole point is that restrictions loosen up enough for Djokovic and some other players to feel now comfortable with them, and be willing to participate. Of course not all restrictions will be canceled, but they are not nearly so severe now.

Also the difference in terms of COVID isn't too much. Few players can afford 3 team members, so only a few additional people will come, right?
Say only the top 20 can afford to bring 3 people instead of 1. That's only an extra 40 people, all of which will still be tested and quarantined.

I'm sure quite a few of the 236 mens and women's singles players (plus however many other doubles only players) have more than 1 player on their team. Like their agent, wife, girlfriend, brother, sister, mom or dad(wonder if they will discriminate if the parent is over 65 - already there is some acceptable discrimination allowed in rules for film and tv productions in CA with regards to older actors on set)
And many doubles guys have "teams" as Bartoli recently expressed surprise at in that thread from a few weeks ago. It won't be hard for most of the top hundred to bring 3 people, I'm sure.
I suggest you all watch the entire press conference, USTA was asked what if a player test positive when we are down to QF, SF, final stage. They basically said the tournament would be cancelled. This is surreal.

Apparently they never were at least insofar as the number of companions (three for those staying in the official hotels).
The top guys will try to find a private home and they can bring as many people as they want though the USTA hasn’t said how many may be on-site at the NTC.

Another one who didn't the read news... The USTA loosened the restrictions Djokovic was complaining about, so why wouldn't he change his mind?
Most guys at the top haven't played for years w/o personal trainers and physios, probably since they made the top 10. Why take any chances and start now?
Without proper treatment, the chances of them incurring a serious injury is much greater than catching the virus.
It's so funny! Several months ago, there were suggestions (including by myself) for USTA to move USO out of NY, into CA or FL. Guess what, now the pandemic is starting to surge in CA and FL, and NY is one of the most quiet United states.

or Med defeating them both en route to the titles
even if they didn't, he said that finally he will comply to decision of players.
lower ranked players wanna play and get prize money, so their decision is known in advance.

As usual in every walk of life, the squeaky wheel gets the oil. Nothing new here; in other sports the stars get protected so there are better chances they are available for the biggest games and can perform at optimal levels. Joe Kovic spoke up, the USTA/USO hierarchy listened and took action to mollify his complaints.
